OCBC Titanium best for spending below RM1K but you need annual income RM36K. So next best card where the cash back is also capped at RM50 is Maybankard 2 Cards. Click here to read more about it.. also go to MBB 2 thread http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1791925

Hi guys,
Planning to apply CC but not sure which one. These are the requirements..hope u all can help me...
1. Annual Income: RM28320
2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes/No also can
3. Card required for: Cash Back/Rebate, airfare , Overseas Transactions, cheap hotel bookings
4. Existing credit cards if any: Nil.
5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: Air asia and HSBC
6. Others: nil
7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: Less than RM1K
*
Try Maybankard 2 Gold card, the Visa has the lowest overseas transaction conversion. Gives you cash rebate too with the Maybankard 2 Amex for shopping locally.

Click here to read more about Maybankard 2 Cards at my blog.

If you cannot qualify for the Maybankard 2 Cards, then apply for the other Maybank Visa/MasterCard.

Air Asia card is by Citibank, good if you fly Air Asia often and you get to book a day earlier than others when Air Asia has offers/promotion.

Citibank and HSBC overseas conversion rate would be higher than Maybank's credit cards. Click here to see comparison of rates between credit cards.

1. Annual Income: RM85K
2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must.
3. Card required for: Petrol, Overseas Transactions
4. Existing credit cards if any: Citibank Plat Visa, EON Bank Plat MC
5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: Planning to apply for the new HSBC Signature.
6. Others: Going to apply using cc, not pay slip, with the cards i have and my annual income, is it possible to get the application approved? or it is strictly >100k income p.a. only? Nice payment records, frequent user of other CCs.
7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: RM3K

In your point of view, how easily does HSBC approve c/c application?
*
For your case, because you listed petrol and overseas transactions, I would recommend you Maybankard 2 Cards.

Maybankard 2 AMEX gives you 5X TP at Esso, Shell, Caltex and BHP, click here to go to Petrol thread.

Maybankard 2 Visa or MasterCard would give you lowest conversion rate. Actually, you can get more in returns with the AMEX but you would have to pay upfront and then redeem it for vouchers. Click here to read my articles on Overseas Transactions with various cards.

The HSBC Signature annual income requirement is RM100K. Having said that, if you have a credit card more than a year, HSBC can check your credit history and I guess the best place for you to apply is at Mid Valley where there are many agents there who are more than willing to assist you on your application. But if you ask me, I would still recommend you Maybankard 2 Platinum over the HSBC Visa Signature unless there is a specific merchant that the HSBC CC gives you discount where MBB 2 does not.

Click here to read my article on HSBC Visa Signature where I did a brief comparison versus the Maybankard 2 Cards.

1. Annual Income: 20k-29k
2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: No preference..
3. Card required for: 1. Mainly on electrical appliances and furniture which required like few years installment plan.. 2. Petrol.. 3. T n G
Of course preferably card with the max benefit. On rebates, discounts, freebies.. Shopping voucher etc etc.. LoL!
4. Existing credit cards if any: Nothing..
5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: Maybank, Cimb and maybe Citibak
6. Estimated Spending per month with the card: Should be less thank 2k/monthly
*
Firstly, you have to make sure you can proof your annual income to be at least RM24K.

Looking at MBB website, the minimum income for their cards are RM30K rclxub.gif Cannot seem to find classic card. So if your salary is indeed RM29K/yr, try apply Maybankard 2 Gold Cards and your needs would be satisfied.

Citibank, there is no generic card in your income range that gives you anything for petrol.

For Petrol, you can go with Ambank Carz CC wher eyou get 2% cash rebate at all petrol station but capped at RM20/month or go with co-brand cards:

1) CIMB Petronas Gold Click here to CIMB website and download form. Minimum income RM24K for Gold Card. The classic card no more rclxub.gif Looks like CIMB updated to suit BNM ruling.
2) Citibank Shell - but this card got annual fees from 2nd year onwards and to enjoy maximum benefit need to have balance carried forward which means you be working for the bank and you living beyond your means.
3) UOB OneCard where you get 2% Smart$ Cash at BHP
4) Public Bank Esso Click here to PBB website.

Also look into Alliance Bank Classic card where they do give cash back based on tiers. Click here to view Alliance CC cash back tiers for Classic, Gold and Plat.

As for electrical goods, harvey norman accept almost all CC for installment plans. Or go to your favorite electrical shop and find out what cards they offer installment plans and apply for that card.

As for TNGo, not sure what you meant by it but if you want a CC with built in TnG, I would not advise you on it because it will give you headaches when your card is lost or when you have disputes, just go get separate TnG card.

want to have a card which has the best cash back
*
Besides OCBC Titanium, there are many cash back cards such as Citibank Platinum Cash Back (o.3% for general transaction), HLB Essential (1% except for petrol), HLB Fortune (this one complicated), OCBC Gold (0.2%) & Plat (0.5%), CIMB Visa (0.5%) and several Debit Cards such as from Alliance and Public Bank.

But since you only spend RM1K to RM3K, the returns from the above mentioned cards won't give you more than RM30 in cash back monthly (excluded petrol since you did not state as a requirement). Therefore, if you not not considering insurance premiums, best card to get is still Maybankard 2 Cards where the AMEX earns you 5% cash back for all transactions on weekends and capped at RM50/monthly.

Click here to see comparison of cash back cards, OCBC vs CiTi Plat CB vs HLB Essestial vs AMEX Gold CC For an idea on Maybankard 2 Amex card, just assume it is like the Amex Gold CC (instead of cash back redeem for cash vouchers) but with additional benefit of 5% cash back on weekends.

Click here to read comparison of Maybankard 2 Amex vs OCBC Titanium MasterCard.

Click here to read brief comparison of Maybankard 2 Cards vs Citibank Platinum Cash Back.

Click here to read my article on the innovative HLB Fortune Visa Cash Back.

If after reading above, you still don't want Maybankard 2 Cards, go get Alliance Platinum or Premier Debit Cards where you get more than 1% cash back for all transactions.

how about if want cash back including the petrol?
will the choice still the same?
*
if you include petrol, for your case you have mentioned that OCBC is out, Iwould say you can consider Citi Plat Cash Back where it does give you 5% for ALL petrol stations but capped at RM30 a month (or petrol RM600). But overall, MBB 2 Amex still better since you gives 5X and 5% (weekends) for other transactions compared to Citi Plat CB 0.3%. Do read the link I posted earlier on Citi Plat vs MBB 2 Amex at my blog.

Try apply Maybankard 2 Gold Cards and your needs would be satisfied. It will be easier to apply if you have got your PBB >1 year. Because you spend less than RM1K per month, this card with 5% cash will will give you most cash rebate compared to cards below:

1) Ambank Carz CC where you get 2% cash rebate at all petrol station but capped at RM20/month.

Any comment of this card.

Best feature of SCB Just one is the cap is annual not monthly and therefore you can use earn the entire cash back based on a single tramsaction. But why you ask? SCB reintroducing it to the public?

1. Annual Income: RM60K
2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must (pref if can waiver the annual RM50.00 as well)
3. Card required for: Petrol, Overseas Transactions, Free LCCT/KLIA Premier Lounge Access, Online Purchases. Best if can accumulate multipled points per dollar for gift exchange (lame i know...). Good reasonable (non cut-throat) exchange rate when buying overseas would be good too (are there any cards with such benefits or catered for such needs?) - just wondering out of curiosity.
4. Existing credit cards if any: HSBC Gold Mastercard
5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: Standard Chartered Platinum (currently offering RM188 cashback)
6. Others: Please be specific. I need the card before 19th April 2011 (flying off for biz trip overseas)
7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: varies on mood....... sometimes less than 1K, sometimes a few K. Sometimes 0 if my darling scold me for overspending... sigh...
any good recommendations? all much appreciated! smile.gif thanks in advanced.

Petrol+Overseas - As chem mentioned Maybankard 2 Cards. Click here to read my article and from there you can see comparison with OCBC Titanum and Citibank Cash Back.
To read more on CC for Petrol click link below to petrol thread http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1798403
To read more on swiping CC with lowest conversion rate for overseas transaction click here to read my article.

However MBB 2 cards don't grant you access to KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge, so go get the SCB Platinum you want as it will grant you access to KLIA plaza premium lounge and same time gives you RM188, consider it as paying for GST.

click here to see card that have auto annual fee waiver and grants you access to KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge.

For immediate cards - call Citibank and Maybank Customer Service and ask if they can issue card on the spot.
Click here to see Customer Service contact numbers for Malaysian issued Credit Cards. s

Is there any successful case that annual income <RM30k get approval for Maybankard 2 Gold Cards?

btw, should i attach along my PBB CC when applying for Maybankard 2 Gold Cards?

thanks for the info
*
For people having credit card more than a year, yes, MBB can check CCRIS. But for your case, less than 1 year they will be strict.

Yes, you need to bring your PBB card for them to photocopy and since your card less than 1 year, you may need to bring along proof of income.

4. Existing credit cards if any: Hong Leong Gold Mastercard, EON MATTA Gold Mastercard, Standard Charted Gold Visa, UOB ONE Platinum Visa
6. Others: My application to HSBC Gold is approved; My application to OCBC Titanium is in process.
7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: RM800 to RM1K

I need recommendation on which credit card is more suitable for me, so that I will cancel my existing card, or apply new card. I want only 3 or 4 cards at the end. Thanks.
*
If your OCBC Titanium approve, then your needs solved. But also look into Great Eastern CC from OCBC and work out if the cash back from your monthly premiums is more than enough to cover the GST and annual fees (if any). Example

Great Eastern Premium RM200/month.

With OCBC Titanium you get RM2 per month (1%).

With OCBC Great Eastern you get RM4/month (2%); therefore Casb Back < GST RM50. but this card also gives you cash back for other transactions. click link below to read more about it.

Another question here, in what condition, Maybank 2 Card is better than OCBC Titanium?
*
Depends on your needs.

Click here to read my artilce The Best Credit Card in Malaysia - Is There Really One? and

Click here to read my artilce on MAA 2 where I did a comparison to OCBC Titanium.a

Main advantage of OCBC over MBB2 is 5% everyday.
Main advantage of MBB 2 over OCBC TMC is that 5% on weekends plus 5X TP for any type of transactions.

but since you only spend less than RM1000 per month and on top of that you paying for 2 insurance premium, OCBC better since MBB 2 AMEX cannot be used for insurance payments for your case.

For petrol, cash back and overseas transaction. the Maybankard 2 Cards is good.
But since you spend less than RM1K per month, OCBC can be considered too except that for overseas transactions their rate is higher.

As for Air Miles, I think someone asked before and there's isn't one that have free annual fee. Anyone else got idea on this? Also most air-miles cards have higher annual income requirement. Are you willing to consider RHB Travel Money? click here to read more about it. this card got cash back for petrol too.

As for your credit records, it has been more than a year since you settled, do less us know if the banks reject your application.

CIMB World MasterCard (2X points) or Visa Infinite (1% cash back) where it would reward you twice your existing CIMB Petronas MasterCard (1X points) for overseas transactions.

labtec, please note that AMEX Gold CC IS NOT Maybankard 2 American Express.

This is AMEX Gold Credit Card

The AMEX Gold CC only gives you 5X Membership Reward Points for Petrol, Groceries, Utility bills and at Bookshops.

labtec, if you are holding a American Express Gold CC, I suggest you go apply for the Maybankard 2 Cards where you be better rewarded with it compared to AMEX Gold CC.

As for Amazon and GSC, hope someone else can assist you as I don't do online transactions except for buying air tickets.

Your case similar to bill_clinton case. Post #168. So I will just copy and paste same reply. Please note you get nothing with HSBC card for petrol which is your one and only requirement.

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1798403

Try apply Maybankard 2 Gold Cards and your needs would be satisfied.
Because you spend less than RM1K per month, this card with 5% cash will will give you most cash rebate compared to cards below:

1) Ambank Carz CC where you get 2% cash rebate at all petrol station but capped at RM20/month.

Else get PBB Esso Debit Card.
