Maybankard 2 Cards = you not only get 1 card as standby but 2 cards  tongue.gif If the place you frequent accept AMEX, with Maybankard 2 Amex, you get 5X Treats Points  thumbup.gif Click here to read my article on Maybankard 2 Cards.

Furthermore, your existing card is a sub card, you should get a principal card yourself as next year they'll be sending you sms for every transactions. You don't want your principal card holder to receive an sms eveytime you use the sub card outstation, would you?

Hi Gen-X .. firstly thanks alot for your website, it's alot of reading. Makes me wonder you must be some hardcore banker or something? smile.gif However, I'm a newbie and I hope you don't mind explaining a few things to me

# Enjoy a low Finance Charge of 8.88% p.a. on your outstanding retail balance, and save up to RM2300 a year¹. All you have to do is promptly settle your minimum payment of 5% or a minimum of RM25.
¹Based on RM3,000 monthly spend with minimum repayment of 12 months.
#Enjoy lowest finance charge of 8.88%³ per annum on your outstanding retail balance. All you need to do is promptly settle minimum payment, 5% of the outstanding balance or a minimum of RM25.
³Maybank reserves the right to revise the Finance Charge as and when it deems necessary, with 21 days prior notice.

1) I don't really understand that. If I pay my monthly bill on time and in full, I don't get that charge at all right ? Is that for like the total amount you owe the bank or something ?

# Lifetime Fee Waiver with complimentary supplementary cards.
# 2 Credit Cards for a single GST of RM50 or shall we say RM25/each.

2) That means there is no yearly payment right ? So let's just say I get these 2 cards just for spares and I don't use it for like 5 years at all. I don't need to pay a single cent right? The GST is just the one time payment ?

3) Just to confirm, I don't need a savings/current account with Maybank to get these cards right ?

4) This is probably stupid but I just want to try my luck haha .. Can I get 1 visa and 1 mastercard instead of 1 AMEX and 1 master/visa ? tongue.gif

5) What's the deal with American Express ( AMEX stands for american experess right? ) ? People are saying that it's bad and no one wants it and everything ? All I know is that AMEX charge the shops more only right ? That's why they don't like to accept AMEX ? For us consumers, is there any disadvantages of using AMEX ?

6) Will the banks take your pay slip to make sure you have that much of income ? Or they just see then ok already ? I mean I don't feel safe giving out my pay slip, or it is supposed to be a very normal thing and I shouldn't worry about it ?=/

7) After doing some reading, I noticed there are different types even for the MAYBANKARD 2 CARDS ? Normal, gold and platinum ?? What's the difference ?

Hope that's not too much question bro tongue.gif

1) Always pay in full and you won't be imposed interest charges.
2) No annual fees for life but you got to pay annual government service tax RM50. But if you use the Maybankard 2 cards, you can use the Treats Points to offset the RM50 i.e. spend RM2000 x 5X Treats Points = 10,000 Treats Points. Use to 10,000 Treats points ro contra RM50 GST. And if you spend RM1,000 on weekends, you get EXTRA RM50 which would offset the annual GST.
3) No need any CASA with MBB.
4) Nope. Amex with Visa or MC.
5) Those who don't have AMEX cards are just not that smart or not living in Klang Valley, hahaha
6) Since you first time applying, you have to provide pay slip, Borang BE, or any official Income Tax documents.
7) Plat got Travel Insurance and Purchase Protection Insurance.

click below link to read my article Malaysia Top Ten credit card where there is a brief coparison between MBB 2 Gold and Plat.

Firstly, your income now needs to be RM24K to be eligible for a Credit Card according to BNM new guideline. If your salary closr to RM30K, then apply for MBB 2. If your salary around RM24K, please read back previous post.

Firstly, what you meant by INSTANT Cash? Never withdraw cash with credit card unless you are freaking desperate.

For Cash Rebate AND Reward Points - you can choose either Alliance Platinum or Maybankard 2 Cards. Since you did not mentio0ned your expected expenses monthly, I guess MBB 2 Cards will do. And yah, apply for Plat as more benefits.

MBF provides Purchase Protection! - no idea what is this. Does the MBF Gaia benefit you with this? If so, go calculate how much you can earn with the MBF card.

Since I not sure what you using your credit card for, I cannot really recommend a card to you blush.gif But I can tell you that you can forget about Visa WAVE or MasterCard PayPass features because what do you actually benefit from it?

Yes, photocopies of your documents will do. Best place to apply if you are in Klang Valley is at MBB roadshow when you see one BUT make sure the agent is a MBB staff and not freelance so you can fax to him/her next day documents. 1U MBB Card centre also can.

1. Annual Income: RM30K to RM36K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must

3. Card required for: Petrol(shell), Restaurants

4. Existing credit cards if any: Nil.

5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: Considering citibank shell but need annual income 36k which im below

6. Others: Main reason i want a card is for convenience at shell. I drive around alot (800-1k petrol/month) and my job requires me to entertain ppl to lunch/dinner. Its a hassle always keeping 1k+ cash worrying not enough to pay at restaurants.

7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: minimum 1.5k up to 3k+

Please advice if its possible to get the shell citibank gold or a better alternative to that.
Also my parents are shell citibank gold holders, is it easy to supp me a card?or can they reference me?

Well with your AMEX Plat CC, you can enter Lcct and KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge unlimted times. With MBB Plat you already have a card that gives you lowest overseas conversion rate.

For foreign banks, Citibank PremierMlles do award Airmiles instead of reward points. You get to enter KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge with it and LCCT with Priority Pass. But the overseas conversion rate won't be as competitive as MBB Plat. Also you can check out Citibank website to see if it is worth it to get the PremierMiles card in your case where you only spend between RM1K to RM5K per month. Generally those who benefit most from Airmiles are those that spend much more than RM5K per month. Read back few post where hye gave an example.

Read the 1st post.

Is OCBC the only bank with auto-GST waiver? Which card is that? Got other benefits?

Why other banks always say cannot waive the tax due to regulations, but when i cancel card, they said can waive ?!?
