Hope you all can help give some suggestion about which kind of card would be the best and not much hassle. notworthy.gif

Since you have been doing fine with cash and now looking for a card with best interest rate, I think you should not get a credit card but get a Debit Card that is linked to your account.

Question about cards that has no automatic annual fee waiver ... any that gives very good cash rebates and points benefits?

Saw a roadshow for RHB ... seems good ... any spending get rebates up to rm60+ max.

Also saw a lot of signs at shop entrance for HSBC promotion ... 30% rebates ... need to sms to register. Any info on this? Never mentioned max rebate amount tho.
*
The RHB and HSBC you mentioned are limited time promotion. And I can tell you the HSBC one not guaranteed you will get the rebate.

If there are other cards offering VERY good cash rebate and points besides MBB 2 and OCBC Titanium, there will be a thread on this card by now.

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must

3. Card required for: List all your needs. Example Petrol, Cash Back/Rebate , AirMiles, Overseas Transactions, Free LCCT Lounge Access , any others would be a plus

4. Existing credit cards if any: Maybank Visa Petronas Gold (pay goes into Maybank so decided it was convenient, now considering other CC cos I think it's not giving me enough value)

5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: Ambank, RHB, CIMB, SCB, Public Bank.

7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: RM1K to RM5K
Thank you so much!!

well since you got MBB Petronas, go apply for Maybankard 2 Cards and get 5X TP for ALL Transactions and 5% cash rebate on Saturdays and Sundays. But this card don't give you AIRMILES not access to LCCT PPL. Goto Maybankard 2 Cards thread for more info.

BUT most Petronas don't accept AMEX. Goto Petrol Thread to read more on credit cards for Petrol. Check out the revamp UOB OneCard too.

For Airmiles, I guess you can consider Citibank PremierMiles and it comes with 2 Priority Pass to allow you to enter LCCT PPL. Click here to read my article on credit cards that gives you access to LCCT Plaza Premium Lounge. If you fly Air Asia. check out Citibank Air Asia where you get to book a day earlier for AA offers.

click here to read my article Malasia Top Ten CC.

You may also click below link to read my article on Maybankard 2 Cards and there is a link to download the application form. Just fill in details and fax to them

5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: CIMB, Public, HongLeong, any bank in Connaught

6. Others: i need to swipe fully my credit limit my current cc n do a balance transfer to other cc with 0% interest, so i'm getting a no interest loan.

7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: RM1K to RM5K

May i know if i could apply for a cc with 0% balance transfer interest?
*
Well, you can use last year Borang BE and EA form, moreover you got card with good record more than 1 year so that's good.

So for cash back and petrol, Maybankard 2 Amex and OCBC Titanium MasteCard. Goto to MBB 2 and OCBC TMC threads.

For Loans with interest, well I guess that would be either HLB or EON Bank. Click below link to read my article.
http://creditcardsmalaysia.blogspot.com/20...fer-2011-0.html

For BT 0%, CIMB offer ending soon. Maybank have extended 0% 12 months until end of the year. Public Bank also got 0% for 6 months (when ending no idea, you got to go check). FAst fast go apply for another card and then you can either transfer to the new card or into MBB.

Thanks so much for the info, but just wondering ,in your post you state Maybankard 2 Amex Visa and Mastercard... I looked at MBB website, but no mention of any Visa card available, just Amex and Mastercard.. Can you confirm? It would be difficult to pump petrol here if they dont accept Amex, cos I live in a small town, only have Shell and Petronas.

Could I possibly have the link for the Petrol Thread? Didn't see it in your post.. Thanks a lot for your trouble..

Also, in your articles abt the credit card, maybe you can consider adding the eligibility (Min p.a income) for the cards, so that it's easier for the reader to know if they are eligible... Hehe thanks!!
*
As for Maybankard 2 Cards, it comes with either Visa or MAsterCArd. The previous application form I posted at my blog did state that MC only available from April onwards (today I have revised the link to the latest form). And no wonder you are confused because the application form at MBB website don't mentioned or allow you you chose Visa or MC. But that's normal as Maybank info never complete or accurate.

And if most of the merchants in your town don't accept AMEX, then no point getting the MBB 2 Cards.

Click here to Petrol Thread. and Click here to MBB 2 Thread. And after clicking these links, you'll now know what I meant by threads.

As for income requirement, I cannot be spoon feeding when the info is easily available at banks websites AND I usually do post a link to the banks website too . But I did write a general post on it. Click here to read my article Malaysia CC Annual Income Requirement and Credit Limit.

As chem mentioned, OCBC Titanium is good for you since you spend less than RM1K and your requirement is Petrol and Cash Back Only.

I would like to add, if you are currently pumping petrol at Petronas, then OCBC is great to replace your current card since you'll be getting 5% cash back versus 5XTP. After you get the OCBC TMC or if you willing to swith to another petrol brand (tha'is if your application for OCBC is rejected) you should consider replacing your MBB Petronas Visa with Maybankard 2 Card which is also Free For Life and after you get the cards (if you apply) transfer all your Treats Points to the Maybankard 2 Card Account.

Click here to read my article on OCBC Titanium MasterCard. For further info on OCBC TMC, please visit OCBC Thread where there are many members there willing to answer your questions. Also please visit Maybankard 2 Cards Thread for more info.

Bro, as alexwsk mentioned for Islamic cards not much choices.

I happen to be at CIMB bank today and there were few girls promoting their cards. So I asked if they got i-Platinum cards and the girl said yes but not shown in brochure and I also did not see it in their website. Why don't you call CIMB CS service and asked if they do have Platinum Islamic card because CIMB Petronas card do earn you 2% cash back and 5% on 1st of every month. And if it is a Mastercard, you can enjoy some of thier promotions too.

As for Astro Digi prudential and others, any Visa and Mastercard will do. DiGi do accept AMEX. Yah might as while get the AMEX card you mentioned and get 2X points which will work out to be roughly 1% cash back instead of getting only 0.5% with HSBC. And AMEX card do earn you points for petrol.

3. Card required for: petrol & retail purchase(not only limited to certain merchant like a store card) cashback, better if can earn points at the same time.

4. Existing credit cards if any: MBB Petronas gold card (collecting treats point only, no retail purchase cashback), PBB gold card(nothing much, applied it last time to do balance transfer, going to cancel after finish installment), CIMB Petronas gold card (currently using this card to do al my purchases because they got 5% cashback on 1st of everymonth and 2% cashback other days when u buy petrol in petronas. Other retail purchase i'm not sure how many%, quite low i think, because my statement show lump sum at the end of the month, so i don't know which purchase qualifies for cashback. This card has no points collection like treatspoint. if there's any card better than cimb in terms of cashback and points collection, i'm willing to change.)

Additional info : previously used MBB amex and CIMB visa, I left employment for own business in last year but its failed, move myself back to be employed in May 2011. There were certain months which I failed to pay any amount, now reached an agreement with the bank for monthly installment, balance outstanding of 1.5K and 6.1k will be cleared in 1 month and 6 months period. I owned a house paying regular monthly installment and no other debts in hand

Since my credit record is bad and work less than a year, is there a chance to get approved if I apply for card?
*
For your case best card would be OCBC Titanium MasterCard and Maybankard 2 Cards.
I don't really know about how banks evaluate their customers but since you got a bad record for CC, that is not good for your application. If you still have your MBB AMEX, then maybe you still be issued the MBB 2 CArds since the CL is shared, but I am guessing, no harm trying to apply tho.

Hi Gen-X,

Thanks a lot for your reply, i have cancelled my cards and now need to get one for business trip purpose. Would appreciate if you could help me on below questions:

1. If i apply CC with few bank at once, would it shown in CCRIS or other credit report of the status and affect the chances of getting approval?
2. Worst case I will ask my brother to get me a supp card from CIMB but will my outstanding accounts affect the result?
*
1. When your application is being process, yes, it will be shown as pending. Not sure if it will state rejected. Go to CCRIS Thread to ask.

2. Don't know lah since you also need to give your details. But no harm trying, nothing to loose. Technically I would think your brother will be responsible for the account and as such they should approve the supp card.

OPTIONS -

1. Call MBB CS and ask if they can reinstate your previous card or what are the chances of you getting your application approve.
2. Or goto MBB center at 1U New Wing and apply for new card, many people reported that got card approved within 24 hours, so you will know for sure.
3. Worst come to worst, get a Debit card.

Sorry Bro, can't assist you much on your case.

Hi everyone, I have been following up on this forum for quite some times, just to see any recommendation from the master here on my existing card...

1. Annual Income: RM 150K above

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: not a must

3. Card required for: Petrol, insurance premium, F&B , grocery

4. Existing credit cards if any: ESSO-PBB gold master/ ING-PBB gold master, Ambank Platinum master, HLB platinum master, CIMB Visa infinite

5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: no special preference

6. Others: --

7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: Petro i use esso/mobil so using PBB card, my family insurance preimium mosly ING so use PBB card.  Petrol average about RM 1k per month, Insurance premium about RM 30k per year. For F&B , grocery about RM 1 to 2 K per month.

Any recommendation on my existing card, do I need to get MBB 2 or OCBC Titanium or UOB one card as i think these cards are hot favourite nom , appreciates for reply
*
PBB ING 2% cash back for your case thumbup.gif

Generally you got to determine yourself if currently you are earning more with your AmBank card which gives you 20% cash back on weekends for groceries until next March 2012; and does your current cards benefit you in terms of discount at F&B outlets that you frequent.

For OCBC case, you'll get 5% for groceries and F&B, therefore by spending RM1K you would have hit the cash back cap. So you need another card. I guess coupled with your AMBank card, good combination, max cash back per month RM130.

As for Maybankard 2 Card you got to decide if the F&B outlet you go to accept AMEX and that you only eat out on weekends?

I've tried applying for personal loan and was told one of the main reasons of it getting rejected is because I don't have any credit history and it's difficult for them to approve.
So best way suggested to me was to get a credit card with banks first.
1. Annual Income: RM48k.

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: If possible then best, as main reason getting CC is for the future loan application.

3. Card required for: Just to have a few credit history going, but will mainly be used for petrol and shopping.

4. Existing credit cards if any: Supplementary cards from parents.

5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: Not really sure what's the difference, but prefer the lowest interests/annual fees.

6. Others: I am mostly located overseas, hence spending will be overseas.

7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: RM1k for petrol overseas.

And I was actually off the company for 2 months (April and May), only back to work on June and have payslip for Feb, Mar, and June, will that still be considered as "recent" 3 months payslip?
*
I wonder if cards that are entitled to cash back locally for pumping petrol are also entitled to cash back overseas.

Most banks offer cards with free annual fees nowadays. Check your bank website or click below link to read my articles below:

The best credit cards in Malaysia. Is There Really One?

As for interest, if you pay in full every month prior to the Due Date, no interest will be imposed.

Click here to read my article titled Credit Cards are Cash Cow for Banks. Are You Working For The Banks?ash , In this article I gave an example of interest imposed on Oustanding Balance. If you are new to credit cards, please read it.

7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: Less than RM1K

Petrol and Grocery get OCBC Titanium Cash Back 5% everyday.
For installment plan, go check the furniture shop what card they accept but I would think MBB cards do have many merchants accepting it for installment.

Its actually for my Brother. We are in a family business and the only real solid proof that most bank will accept is the bank statement as payslip is insufficient as we can forge it easily with our power.

Ambank calculated his yearly salary at 54k based on 50% of the monthly turnover.  The problem i see with ambank is that there is not much promotion going on. Will we have any troubles applying from other banks?

You earning more than RM100K and don't pay income tax? Boy, how long have I been subsidising you tongue.gif

Just go talk to any banks like how you approach AmBank, I am sure they can work something out. Maybe initially the credit limit will not be high, but with time, they will increase it once it is proven that you can pay. Best you see the banks where you have your business account, they will have your info and your transactions in their system. If your brother a signatory for the cheque, better still.

As for AmBank, click link below to read my article on thier promotion.

Education, OCBC got GE card that gives cash back for education but with T&C. Yah get the Maybankard 2 Cards and your monthly cash back cap will increase to RM100 smile.gif Or you can also look into UOB One Card for petrol. CIMB got pormo until end of year where you can covert Education and Hospital Bills to 10 months 0% interest installment.

For cash back, you can look into UOB Once Card where it will give you 5% cash back for petrol and 2% for groceries. Goto UOB Thread or click below link to read about it where I did a table comparing cash back cards. Annual fee waive if swipe once a month.

Well, Citibank, until end of the year, you can get free 1 for 1 free movie ticket at TGV (max 2 for 2) on weekends smile.gif However, you mentioned that annual fee waiver IS A MUST, for Citibank cards, there are no auto waiver but you got to call them to request.
