Bro , His personal bank statement is only 30K yearly. Ambank calculated at 54K because as a half-owner, He is entitled to 50% of the monthly turnover and they decided its the salary. Ambank is our primary bank hence no other bank have our details in it . Would other bank such as CIMB and Standard chartered accept the ambank bank statement and his income tax receipt
*
I think he should not have any problems getting a credit card if he got income tax receipt showing he earns more than RM24K.year.

Bro, which is better only you can decide. I guess you did not read my article on UOB One Card where I gave an example and prepared a table on cash back based on various transactions. What you should do is go determine yourself. But if you pump at Petronas, then go for UOB Once Card.

Click below link to read my article on UOB One Card and workd out the cash back you can get based on where you spend your money. Also note UOB Once CArd earns you 5% Cash Back at GSC.

What you want a card for when you don't know? And what are your montly expenses. Do you know you got to pay RM50 to the government yearly even if you don't use the card?

Seriously, if you do not know why you want a credit card, don't get one because you may have headaches when your card is cloned or used for fraudulent charges. Or worst still, you may spend beyond youe means.

Anyway, click here to read my artilce Into to CC 101

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: No

3. Card required for: List all your needs. Petrol and entertainment with customers and if can have some rebates in additional would be perfect

4. Existing credit cards if any: Nil

5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: Citibank,HSBC,OCBC,Public Bank

6. Others: I am just started to work and might want to use that for petrol, touch n go, lunch or dinner with customers and buy household products for the family.

7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: Less than RM1K to RM1.5K
Any advise?
*
For Petrol, I would recommend UOB One Card as you can earn 5% cash back at all petrol stations.

If you entertain a lot, check if they accept Amex, if they do, once your salary hit RM30K, apply for Maybankard 2 Card. Most night clubs in KL accept AMEX.

I would like to enquiring you regarding the requirements for credit cards.

Does it applicable by providing the documents like eg. IC, company profile & bank statements?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks.

Income can come in many forms and not necessary salary. Dividend are also considered income and taxable and should be reported.

It is most unwise to withdraw cash using credit card as the interest rate is very high.

3. Card required for: Petrol, Hotel, Shopping, Paying bills, etc

6. Others: I travels a lot.
7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: RM1K to RM5K

Both of you are looking into entry level cards and just your luck that UOB just revamp their One Card where you can get 5% cash rebate for petrol and 2% for groceries i.e. TESCO, GIANT etc. Go to UOB Thread to read more or click below

Click here to read my article about Revamp UOB One Card - It's A Pure Cash Back Card July 2011.about

However since both of you are new to credit card, you application may be rejected.

Franc, since you need at least RM5K credit limit. Bank Negara Ruling is that for people earning less than RM36K, they can only have credit cards issued by maximum two banks and the max credit limit is 2X your monthly salary per bank. So let's say if you monthly salary is RM2K, the maximum credit limit per bank is RM4K. So for your case you may need two cards. If you earn RM30K, get Maybankard 2 Cards on top of UOB One Card.

However, since you travel a lot, you have other options -

1. apply for American Express Charge Card where there is no fix credit limit but depending on your usage.
2. get a debit card, where at least you can withdraw cash for emergency while overseas and not subjected to interest charges.

Click here to read more on my article on BNM ruling for credit cards.

1. Annual Income:  RM48 to RM60K
2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must
3. Card required for: Petrol,  Cash Back/Rebate Only, AirMiles, Overseas Transactions, Online purchases
4. Existing credit cards if any: HLB MTV, has been using for more than a year already.
5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks:
6. Others:  I am used to pay debt via interbank transfer, has account with CIMB, HLB and HSBC. Preferably cash back and rewards point, would want to use the point to pay off service tax.
7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: Less than RM1K, normally. sometimes my spend reaches 3k-5k a month.
I am looking to change because HLB implemented a new security feature which is not accepted by a number of merchants, for example Valve software as their site do not have options for the feature to take place. Hence no purchases can be made and as for benefits, the MTV card does not give as much as others do such as insurance or movie or dine-in
*
Sorry Bro missed you post doh.gif

However please note that you got to choose if you want pure cash cash back or airmiles. Anyway with you spending only less than RM1K per month, pointless for you to go with airmiles card, your points may not be even enough to offset GST.

As ben83 mentioned, I agree with him in your case go for MBB 2, OCBC TMC and UOB 1 Card. However note than MBB Amex not accepted by most insurance company except Takaful. And as for online security, I got no idea what you talking about sweat.gif go ask at the relevant card threads and see other can assist you.

Click here to read my article on OCBC Titanuim MasterCard. And from there, go click on MBB 2 and UOB 1 Card links.

Anyone knows best credit card for use overseas eg. Singapore? I'm assuming different banks got different exchange rates and have different rebates/benefits.

Which of the following cards are good for paying hotel, phone, internet, food, shopping, etc :-
Alliance platinum
Standard Chartered infinite
UOB platinum - rebates still applicable overseas?
HSBC visa signature - overseas got 5 points per ringgit = 2%?
OCBC titanium - rebates still applicable overseas?
*
For now UOB Platinum earns 5X UniRinggit in Singapore.

Click here to read my article on Overseas Transactions. I have a table showing transactions in SG.

Since it it not often you book hotel online, I would say go for a card that gives you free annual fee.

If you are booking hotels overseas, MBB cards are good since the conversion rate is the lowest. But MBB cards, minimum income requirement is RM30K p.a.

5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: CIMB Islamic PETRONAS, Maybank Islamic PETRONAS, Bank Islam (basically I'm interested in Islamic ones.. and PETRONAS ones)
6. Others: I have a savings account with CIMB (both Islamic & Conventional). I mainly need a credit card because I travel frequently and often need a credit card for my hotel bookings & whatnots. I fly at least once in 3 or 6 months and more frequent than that if there is any emergency as my hometown is in East Malaysia. I just started work for <6 months.
7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: RM1K to RM5K
Thank you for your recommendation.

Well you have answered yourself what card to get tongue.gif For overseas transaction, MBB Petronas card will give you lower transaction rate compared to CIMB. As for Airmiles and petrol. you can check out RHB Travel Money Credit Card but it is not an Islamic Credit Card.

online transaction and hotel bookings for overseas or local?

If local and for future petrol usage and cash back, you can consider UOB One Card, OCBC Titaium MAsterCard and Maybankard 2 Cards. Go with OCBC TMC first choice as you get 5% cash back for Petrol, Groceries, dining and Phone bills.

If overseas transactions very frequent, then I guess get Maybankard 2 Cards where the Visa or MC will give you the lowest conversion rate. The MBB 2 AMEX will earn you 5% cash back on weekends.

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: not a must

4. Existing credit cards if any: already has my Amex platinum credit card, so recommend me a Visa/Master card.
5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: recommend me pls.
6. Others: i will pay outstanding balance in full every month, so interest rate is not my concern at all.
7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: around 1k.
thank you notworthy.gif

For less than RM1K spending per month you can consider OCBC Titanium MasterCard where you get 5% cash rebate for Groceries, Petrol, Dining and Phone Bill. But the cash back is capped at RM50/month. Therefore, you may not earn anything when go traveling but got the convenience of having a MasterCard.

Or get the Maybankard 2 Cards where the AMEX card you'll get unlimited 5X Treats Points for all transactions, and on weekends you get extra 5% cash back for all transactions but also capped at RM50/month. It comes with either MAsterCard or Visa which is good for overseas as Maybank's conversion rate is the lowest.

Click here to read more about Maybankard 2 Cards. In this article, I have done a comparison versus OCBC TMC.

For your case UOB One Card. Click here to read my article, REvamp UOB One Card - It'a A Pure Cash Back Card July 2011. You get cash back and no reward points, but I think the cash back better than points comparing to other banks' classic card.

haha, like chem said, from post above it has been decided it got to be CitiBank and you already got OCBC..

However Citibank Cards do no have auto annual fee waiver. You got to ask for it. So get the Clear Card where the annual is the lowest (I think) and you movie free tickets at TGV. Go to Citi site and check it out.

Good overseas benefit - I can't really help you. You got to go check HSBC and AMEX site to see their offers worldwide. Click here to HSBC Global site where they list down offers for different countries.

Maybank Visa and MasterCard gives you the lowest conversion rate overseas. HSBC conversion rate is higher than MBB's rate. Having said that, HSBC Visa Signature does earn you 5X point for hotels and dining for overseas transaction but limited to RM1500/month. EON Bank Visa Signature does earn you 2X points plus 1% cash back for overseas transaction but with T&C and their conversion rate is also higher than MBB. Alliance Bank Plat also earns you 2X evergreen points plus cash back for overseas - go with their MasterCard instead of Visa, can't explain why but the MC conversion rate lower. MBB Visa and MC Plat (not MBB 2 cards) earns you 2X points overseas.

Saw many promos for Citibank in SG recently.

Based on the above, I guess you petrol not much, so you can go with UOB One Card. If you think you will be spending RM3K a year, then can get the UOB 1 Card Plat to meet the requirement for annual fee waiver, if not get the non Plat only need swipe 12 times. However, check out UOB Thread, there's something about online purchase security feature not being able to used for online transaction if not mistaken.

Kindly please advice on which card should i keep and go for
1. Annual Income: RM 80K to RM100K
2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Not must
3. Card required for: petrol,
4. Existing credit cards if any: UOB PLAT, SCB PLAT and AMBank PLAT
5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: anybank with good offer
6 Others: Used one card to pay bills and insurance, two card for fuel and other purchases for biz
7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: Total 3 cards about 25k.

What type of card should i go for?
*
Your AMBank card can use for Petrol on 1st weekends of each month until next year. Click here to read my article on AMBank promo.

Or if your cars pump RM1000 a month of petrol, then get OCBC Titanium MasterCard where you get 5% cash back but capped at RM50 per month, that's why no point using more than RM1K for petrol.

UOB Plat, useless unless you pump at BHP and what you get is like nothing. SCB you get nothing at petrol stations.

Well, you if your insurance premiums are like RM5K per month, get Alliance Platinum where you can earn up to RM68.75 max cash rebate plus unlimited points.

The card I recommend that you get is Maybankard 2 Cards American Express for your transactions where there are no offers with your existing cards. Say you pump petrol RM2K (with AmBank or OCBC Titanium), insurance RM8K (with other cards like Alliance Bank), balance RM15K can be used at merchant that accept AMEX, you will get 75,000 points per month or 900,000 Treat Points in a year drool.gif drool.gif drool.gif That's equivalent to RM4,500 in terms of vouchers and not including maximum cash back of RM600/year that you can earn on weekends. And if you pump at Shell or ESSo, they accept AMEX.
Click here to read my article on Maybankard 2 Cards.

If you are very free, click here to read my article titled CreditCard No.8 Fool where I did mentioned briefly the advantages of my different cards.
