@Viber team, I have enabled bluetooth in setting, however it seems that I was unable to get the call to stream to my bluetooth heatset. Is it a bug or is there additional setting that I have to go through. Using a HTC One X and jabra handsfree

Hi,

First, please note that Viber does not officially support HTC One X yet, and that may be the reason for the problem you are experiencing. Here is the full list of officially supported devices: http://bit.ly/rqbZEw
We are continuously working to adapt Viber to more and more devices, and we hope to attend to the problems with your device soon.

In addition, note that Viber does support most Bluetooth/headset devices in general. However, some are not supported, due to the restrictions within the phone itself (sometimes certain iPhone/Android features or external devices do not function smoothly with 3rd-party applications). We have fixed Viber in our lastest versions so MOST of the BT/headset devices can work, but unfortunately some others are just not fully compatible yet, and we're continuously working to adapt the app to more and more BT and headset devices

For more info, please contact our support team at http://support.viber.com

Hi,

I apologize, I must have missed your original post.

There seems to be quite a bit of confusion (and rumors) about the information we collect and what we do with it, so allow me to once and for all clarify it and explain it thoroughly so all doubts are removed smile.gif

First, it is important to be accurate – we only collect names and phone numbers, nothing else. Naturally, we collect users' information not because we are curious of its content, but in order for functional reasons, and for us to enable the service we, as a company, promise to provide. Without that information, Viber cannot function. This is not different from any other major social network/communication service provider in our world nowadays.

I would like to clarify again: we DO NOT sell users' information to anyone, and we keep this information WELL locked in our servers, with extremely limited access to it. The line in our Privacy Policy that refers to giving the information third parties does not mean that we sell it. sometimes it is necessary to pass to one or two companies in order, for example, to send an SMS with activation code (again - functional reasons).
In our contracts with those companies, we make sure the information we send it deleted immediately after its functional use.

In short - your crash reports (and any other information that arrives in our servers) are completely anonymous, and used for trouble-shooting purposes. Nothing to worry about smile.gif
If you have any other questions/doubts, please do let me know.

Regards,
the Viber Team

Is there anyway that i can know about the follow up on the report that i have sent ?
It would be meaningless to me to be sending crash reports if no action were taken, or if the action is taken and verified and completed but i would still have no knowing of its actions or when the tasks was rectified.

in total i have sent roughly several crash reports. I can keep sending crash reports and but i will never know whether the 1st crash that happened on my phone was the same as the 2nd crash and 3rd crash. In order to avoid multiple similar crash reports being sent, would there be a way for notification ? It is not feasible for me to keep sending the same crash report anyway and you definitely do not want to be receiving the same crash reports.

And also after you have dealt with the crash reports, can there be a notification saying that the crash report i have sent has already been rectified. This is might be a good way for me to not send multiples of the same crash report.
However i still feel that there should be an indicator on the crash report.

for instance maybe error #132 caused the force close on viber. So i send out the crash report on error #132. And if that happens again on the 2nd time i might ignore it as i know error #132 has been sent out by me and i'll give it some time for action taken. And if after 6 months error #132 pops up again, i'll send another crash report.

This is just an example per say.

My apologies if i'm being too detailed.

You're not being too detailed - we actually highly appreciate the time you are devoting to this smile.gif

Well, first - the reports are anonymous, for privacy reasons. If they are anonymous, this means we don't have a mechanism to identify the sender of the crash reports, hence we can't get back to the users.

However, we must admit - getting back to each and every user who sent a crash report would take away many, *many* resources and manpower from us, and we are not sure this is a beneficial investment wink.gif
I can tell you that I am working in the company and I know for a fact that these crash reports are looked at. Some of them are repetitive, some help us discover new problems, but remember that they are coming in millions.

Also, about the mechanism that you described ("the report has already been rectified...") - this is indeed a nice idea, but again, it means that we'll have to literally develop a mechanism, supported by our servers, that check through our logs to see whether or not certain TYPES of crash reports have already come in through other users.

As you see - this beats the point of having a light-weight mechanism to find user reports - it'll just make things much heavier and more prone to bugs ironically wink.gif

However, I will certainly pass your ideas on, and we'll see if it is feasible to come up with some kind of indication for crash reports usage. We can't promise anything though..

Hi,

Unfortunately, we currently have an issue with Bluetooth integration on many Android devices, and not only HTC One X. Our teams are working around the clock to complete the development of the BT integration as soon as possible, within the resources and time frames of other projects. Once we have news on that, I'll keep you posted.

We apologize for the temporary inconvenience :\

1) and 2) Both parties need to be connected to Viber via Internet

You won't know your contact is online or not, you only know if he/she is registered with Viber. Think of it as a phone contact - you have them on your phonebook, but you don't know their phone is on/off, in coverage or not, etc.

1. Viber need internet connection! So use public wifi whenever u can..

2. Cannnot reach, its like MSN/Skype... The tone is same online n offline..

3. No, just try send message, whenever u see status DELIVERED means he is online, but that not guaranteed the message has been read... Whenever u get SENT status, that means the person is no online.

Can I know:

1) If I have viber installed, will it be useful if I am overseas but not connected to the internet ? Can I still receive call without roaming charge ?

2) If I use viber to call someone who has viber installed but if he is not in the internet, casn I still reach hi, with viber ? If not, what is the ringing tone or message ?

3) Will I be able to tell from my viber list contacts which of them is currently to the internet or not ?
*
1) No. u need internet
2) You need interent to get free call through viber. however viber will direct u to a normal charged call. basically u will be using your normal celcom/maxis/digi/etc call.
3) Yes. when u insert a new number, viber automatically scans that number and if that number is a viber user it will automatically insert it into the viber contacts. oops, to answer your question, just send them a message, if the message status is delivered then he is online and the message is delivered.

in summary, to have the best of viber, the caller and calle need to be on internet, either wifi or 3g.

if u use "Call Viber (free call)" and he is not online, then call won't get through. that's all.
if u use "Call Mobile" then viber just redirects u to a normal call where normal charges apply. the callee will get a call through the phone line, and not thru viber.

Thank.

Pls reply my OP no, 2) last question.

I know cannot call but if I call, what do I get ?

So a viber to viber call is still a local charge call ?
Someone told me a call from M<alaysia to Malaysia in viber is free, no ?
*
viber to viber call is free! even if the callee is in the north pole.
yes its free, but you must be online and he must be online. if either of u are not online. then although u can make a call thru viber app, it is actually a normal call where charges apply. normal call means call thru you phone line (e.g. celcom/maxis/digi etc......)

Subconsciously, ignore that Call Mobile button. It's just a shortcut to call him with your telco line. Either Call Viber or send a message.

Will Viber switch to 3G line seamlessly without notifying, then get big Maxis charge for call to North Pole, need to beg Santa for funds!?!

hi,

Currently using on a viber digi prepaid sim card.

If there is wifi and 3g connection, which network viber would use?

Does viber priorities Wifi over 3G?

Possible to set viber to use Wifi only?

Thanks.

Hi,

Viber utilizes the network to which your phone is currently connected to. If your phone is connected to 3G, Viber will naturally use 3G. If to WiFi, then WiFi.

It's not possible to set Viber to use WiFi only at this stage (it remains available at all times), but you can simply choose not to make calls or send text messages when you are on 3G wink.gif

Sorry for a noob question and I lazy to flip through 29 pages for answer.

I have a dumb question. Does the recipient Viber apps need to be on or resides in the background (memory) in order for the call to be successful?

There's no such thing as dumb questions - we are here to assist users with all kinds of questions smile.gif

Viber remains available even when it is running in the background (and even completely shut off, but it is not recommended).

Thanks but I don't think you get my question.

Let me rephrase it. If a caller initiate a call using Viber, does the recipient phone need to have the Viber apps to be ON or running under background in order for the call to be successful connected for both sides to chat?
