This is a fanboy comment. If more people use Viber (regardless of platform), the app becomes even more essential.Viber for Android

QUOTE(fcuk90 @ Jul 21 2011, 12:42 AM) What? With Viber, ipad2 also can talk and make calls?QUOTE(loselegend @ Jul 21 2011, 05:54 PM) I not that like this "feature". I, on the other hand, love this 'feature'. When I don't want it to run anymore, I end the Viber process. Didn't like Whatsapp's always-on-no-way-to-exit nature.I prefer it like WhatsApp or Viber (iphone) or fring where I no need to open the application to receive call or message from my friend who also using the same application. |

QUOTE(mydragoon @ Jul 27 2011, 05:02 PM) anyway, though i can safely say none of my friends are using viber, i might still install it... coz i personally feel more comfortable with viber over whatsapps (dunno why also)... Hey I feel the same thing, don't know why also My colleague's hubby (Galaxy Ace) is now calling their son in Australia (iPhone 4) every night via Viber... the call quality is just like normal international call... As for battery, I usually keep Viber killed, unless I know I need it, since not many of my friends use it. |

Hi Viber,
Have been using Viber on and off for a week. Only tried calls once, I can hear the other person but she could not hear me well. Colleague was calling son in Australia nightly and she says call quality is good. Messaging is nice and fast, like IM and SMS combined. Did not experience problems with battery as I only use it when I'm expecting someone to Viber me, and I kill it thereafter (and it stays dead). Requests: 1) landscape mode (easier to type) 2) disable the auto keyboard popup when I select a message thread to view 3) better able to detect new users in phonebook using Viber (but can add manually so not a big issue) 4) exit button (low priority) 5) ability to change notification sounds and ringtone (low priority) I'm using SE X10. Thanks! |

The Exit button didn't work for me. I exit and Viber came back instantly. Same thing happens when I kill the Viber task. Meaning it's always there unless I uninstall it... the previous version would stay killed if I kill it. Just an observation. And Update Contact List has improved. Samsung Ace 2.2.

QUOTE(kuro0314 @ Aug 6 2011, 04:06 AM) hi everyone newbie here, just wan to make clear that is the viber allows to call or text even without wifi? or it charge on 3g? one stupid question to ask, any difference with skype? May consider buying 1 android phone for this apps =) thanks Viber uses data, so you need either wifi or 3G. Useful if you have a lot of contacts using Viber. Not sure about Skype, never used before, maybe someone else can help |

QUOTE(Viber @ Aug 7 2011, 03:21 PM) @Dannyl - No, I'm on stock firmware. It doesn't bother me, though. We haven't gotten reports of misfunctionality of the Exit button yet. Are you using a custom ROM that might be causing your problem? On the issue of custom ringtone - is there a file somewhere which we can replace? Where is the original call and notification ringtone stored? Or is it embedded in the app itself? |

QUOTE(onscreen @ Aug 11 2011, 04:18 PM) Viber works great with CM7.03 HTC Legend. The stability is top notch compared to Whatsapp. Hoping that there are more users aware of Viber existance. Works well with Legend stock 2.2 firmware too!Any chance to have the messages being listed as threaded instead of single message to and from a same contact? |

QUOTE(Viber @ Aug 22 2011, 04:26 PM) Hi all, Landscape modeWe're running a quick survey among our users (in Viber-dedicated threads only). We'd like to hear your opinion: What is Viber missing the most? If you could choose the most important feature that you'd like to see in our next big version - Viber 2.1 - that's coming up soon, what would it be? Let your voice be heard |

QUOTE(Viber @ Aug 23 2011, 04:29 PM) I'd like to explain to all the users who requested an "online-indicator": we've taken your request into account, but you need to know that in the meanwhile you do have an indirect way of knowing who's online. Yeah, that one is sorta logical. When I send a message, I wait until the hourglass is replaced with an arrow. If it doesn't change to a tick sign, I know the other person is offline and he'll get the message when he's connected in Viber. When you make a Viber call, if it says "Ringing..", it means the other side's phone is literally ringing, meaning they're online. If it only says "Calling..", it probably means they're offline. Same for messaging - if you send a text and you see the "✔" sign, it means the message has been received at the other side's phone (he's online). If you only see the arrow sign, it means it's been sent from you, but pending the other side to come online (their offline at the moment). Think of Viber as a "substitute" for your real phone. When you call/text someone, you're not sure if they are currently available or not. Right? |

QUOTE(mydragoon @ Aug 24 2011, 01:42 PM) honestly... for those who are asking for online indicator... is this what you really want? Haha! Next they'll ask to block people, black lists, white lists, etc coz next thing is... you want invisible/ offline status so you can ignore ppl you dun wanna receive calls from (and only at certain times). |

Feedback from SonyEricsson X10i on stock 2.3.3.
1) The typing is laggy, sometimes I press a few letters and nothing happens, then suddenly the letters all appear quickly. 2) No problem with notification bar, but in the app itself, the unread message count always shows even when the messages have been read. Everything else works fine |

1) and 2) Both parties need to be connected to Viber via Internet
You won't know your contact is online or not, you only know if he/she is registered with Viber. Think of it as a phone contact - you have them on your phonebook, but you don't know their phone is on/off, in coverage or not, etc. |

Subconsciously, ignore that Call Mobile button. It's just a shortcut to call him with your telco line. Either Call Viber or send a message.
