noticed some quirks when using the new version on Samsung Galaxy S2.

#1. message notification within viber does not go away properly. i was replying to my contacts via viber. then closed the apps (not exit). when i opened viber, there was notification for new messages (the small number icon above the message icon) -- but they were not new ones. i have already viewed it earlier when i was having the text conversation with my contacts.

#2. something similar also happened with the phone's notification (top of the screen). i was having a text conversation with a contact. the notification at the top of the screen did not go away. it still indicated a few messages not read. clicking on that notification did not remove them. i had to open viber, click on the messages to clear it.

@mydragoon - thanks for the report. we will look into it, and see if we can find the source of the problem.

May I ask what OS you are running, and whether or not you're running a customized ROM?

Also - if you have time, screenshots would be very helpful.

Install viber today but weren't unable to activate it since I never got the code number. No SMS from viber after I entered my number. try the voice call one but the sound wasn't clear and I'm unable to hear the code number. Now have to wait 24 hours before I can get another code. Is there anyway around it?

SGS2, stock ROM, android 2.3.3

same goes for missed call as well. The icon wont disappear after checking the missed call.
need to clear my notification bar manually.

this notification does not go off properly.


from the above, i pull down the notification and get this screen. i click on the area pointed in red (viber notification).


it brings me back to the message in viber but the notification does not go off. it's still there...


a similar thing as well with this number showing 'new' messages:


i have actually read the so-called 2 'new' messages but it is still there.

but i think another way is to actually go to another screen in viber (like contacts), then go back to messages and then exit. something like that... i tried a few things without clicking clear and it suddenly did clear by itself.

@Shizuru - sorry, there's no work around the problem. Are you getting the code now? Is everything OK?

@mydragoon - thanks for the info. A new 2.1.2 version for Android is now on Market. Please try it out and see if it solves the problem.

i'm not getting any prompts for updates when i check my apps from market. will wait till this evening and see how it goes.

viber went missing from my apps in the market. seems it's a known market issue. have reported to goggle that I'm facing this problem.

that probably explains why I wasn't getting the update prompt.

I would like to suggest the location button be relocated to somewhere else. currently it's in the text box and it's annoying.

We will look into it, but so far we haven't received a common complaint about the location button.

So I understand now that you managed to download 2.1.2? Did it solve the notification problem?

Thanks viber for always listening to users man. Yeah i know some N*ver L*NE app is out and people are saying it's better and all but please, battery consumption and RAM usage more than viber, not stable, some cant call, many dont get verification.

Good things? Better VOIP quality no doubt. And more emoticons and sticky and better interface. (which is why the iphone fellas are like WOW THIS IS THE BEST BETTER THAN WH*TS*PP...) they did not even port to android properly.

So Viber guy. THANKS A LOT of course. But if people are not recognizing you guys, I dont know why. maybe you need to see what's with the sound quality of viber compared to L*NE. cause viber has more noise i can confirm that. But i dont care at least Viber can call without problems. L*NE cant even call for me. (i tested the VOIP quality on my gf's phone, not mine)

Lastly, maybe more emotes or interface tweaks or maybe ringtone change.

All in all i still think viber is best for me now since 2.1.2 because of A2SD and much more stable.

We are aware of the occasional noise on our new sound engine, and we're working to fix it these days. Customization options (changing ringtones and adding emoticons) will probably be added in the future, but we still don't know exactly when. I'll let you know, as always, once it's ready.

Meanwhile, you can add emoticons inside Viber texts through an external app, for example Emoji.

actually i dont care much about emoticons, im one that use very less to none emotes because i wan things quick and straight to the point. i use none but this =x (haha). it's just im wondering why people are saying L*NE is the solution for call and messaging apps when there is so many bugs in their port. i was suggesting that maybe people like these apps with better emotes or interface or things like that. just my suggestion. To me, a2sd, batt life, ram usage, more technical things like that interest me more. See i dont choose android for nothing =) (oh ya i use this emote occasionally too haha)

sorry... still no luck with the download. the new market does not even show viber as one of my apps. this seems to be a known issue.

i m going to just uninstall the new market and get viber updated later today.

i have to say... the new market sucks.

tried again just now and still didn't received the code through SMS but are able to hear the code number clearly this time from viber automatic caller. its working fine now
