How is this different from WhatsApp or Skype?

generally, not much different... but if you wanna go into details...

viber vs whatsapp:
* limited messaging functions in viber. no mms, video sharing. but supposedly this function will be released soon.
* viber has got voice call. free too.
* viber is currently free for life. you need to pay after 1st year for whatsapp.
* see below for more info on viber

viber vs skype:
* skype video call is available for certain phones
* video call function also supposedly coming soon
* viber integrates with your phone contacts. you dun need to create ID, etc... it detects your contacts's phone numbers and will alert you as to who is using the service. whatsapp got this too. with skype, you need to create ID and add people.

I change my phone to sgs2, installed viber but... I can't activate my number. Waited for the SMS, but didn't get any. Asked it to call me for the code but didn't receive any code too... Tried several times ady ... Whats the problem? I used viber previously on my htc desire n it's ok 1

Landscape typing for messaging is a MUST in your next update, I hope you release it ASAP.
Some small suggestions:
- Add some emoticons on the message
- Make clicking on the Viber Call icon won't directly going to call the person, I made many missed call because of this, should have make 1 more confirmation screen or message before calling the person >.<
- +1 to previous suggestion, an option to change ringtone and message tone.

There is a known issue with inability to receive our SMS in Malaysia. We are currently investigating it and hoping to find a solution soon.

- Emoticons can already be added to Viber messages. You need an external emoticon app (usually defined as a keyboard), and then it should appear inside Viber's messaging page.
- About the extra-confirmation: we will consider it, but we don't see a reason at this stage for making a confirmation dialog. It usually annoys most users, and to be frank, we didn't get this complaint from any other user before. We apologize for the inconvenience
- Changing the ringtone is planned for the future. Not sure when exactly though.

Install free Call Confirm app from Market. Useful for all other phone access apps too.

You might be able to install it, but it's probably not going to function 100% smoothly, because Viber isn't officially compatible with Tablets yet.
We're developing it these days and will announce once it's ready.

Right after installing Viber, it force close. My stock samsung galaxy ace (Froyo 2.2) launcher failed to launch. Forced to install Launcher Pro. Uninstall Viber and reinstall. Same problem encounter by the stock samsung launcher. Anyway ditched the samsung stock launcher.

Viber works great with CM7.03 HTC Legend. The stability is top notch compared to Whatsapp. Hoping that there are more users aware of Viber existance.

Any chance to have the messages being listed as threaded instead of single message to and from a same contact?

Don't really know which program that is colliding with Viber. All I know immediately after installing Viber, the Force Close error message appeared and can't launch any icons. Have to then install Launch Pro through the internet to get the phone working again.

Does Viber offer you to generate a crash log?
