My GE 620 DX - HD just got problem. The speaker on the left side has got "krek krek" sound. Just bought this notebook last 2 weeks. I made a call to MSI Malaysia with numbers 603-22828599, and ask them for on-site warranty, and they said they don't provide it. It is all under dealer responsible. However, during purchases the dealer told me that MSI is giving the on-site warranty. I wonder why MSI got so many problems one....this thing has happen before when I purchased a MSI GPU. And I thought it will never happen again, tho It is happening again. MSI relations between dealers looks very bad, and even worst with customer.

Edit: Oh btw, I guess I'll have to retake back my compliment/simple review on MSI GE 620 DX model in previous post of mine. It's totally contra. vmad.gif vmad.gif

fit, you can still find the old version, depending on the stock. It really depends on the dealers whether to order or not. If not we will stock bringing in.

rd33, I believe you purchased the laptop during Malaysia IT Fair. Actually the extended/on site warranty is given out solely by the reseller if i'm not mistaken. They cover all the extra charges. This is one of the way they try to beat off other competitors (dealers/resellers) by offering more service. I'll make sure tomorrow ask the reseller person incharge to give you a call. So the onsite-warranty can be arranged according to what being advertised during Malaysia IT Fair. And we truly thank you for bringing this matter up. We will review this matter accordingly. We will warned all the dealers not to misguide customers in their special/added offers which actually does not involve MSI Malaysia, especially matters in regards of RMA. But rest be assured that we are always there to support our customer and i'm 100% sure you will get the on-site warranty.

PS: Could you PM me your contact number so that i can ask the person incharge to give you a call for the said arrangement?

I did not buy my MSI GE 620 DX from IT fair. I bought mine at Lowyat on 8 October 2011, around 1PM - 3PM, there is a shop in front of All IT Hypermart selling the laptop. The salesperson told me that MSI Malaysia provide on-site warranty for 2 years. I do not know how you guys monitor the dealers, but it seems you aren't. So now MSI is trying to blame on dealers, and right now I am very confuse with your after sales service. I know, if I were to send this laptop to MSI, its going to take few months. I have few experiences with you guys edi, ask ur partner MSI-MY.

I'll give u a pm.

Dear rd33,
First of all, i would like to apologize on behalf of MSI Malaysia. Here i would like to share with Lowyat.NET community that MSI Malaysia does not provide any extended warranty or onsite warranty. All our notebooks come with 1-2 years warranty only and customer is required to send in to our ASP, unless your location does not have our ASP. And do take not that our notebook ASP is different from our component ASP. Anything above that is not provided by us. Lately a lot of dealers start selling their own extended RMA solution regardless of what brand. Such RMA solution/pack is not by MSI and anyone could check if they have bought it. In this case, it was really unfortunate that our dealers passed the wrong information saying that MSI Malaysia provides onsite-warranty. We believe that it's a misunderstanding here. Ok, that's our part on the explanation. And now the most important part is the solution. We would need your help to send us as much details or better a soft copy of the receipt and the on-site warranty card (if any). With this, we could identify the dealer and investigate further. We are really sorry for the inconvenience caused. If the response from our dealer is too long, we will take our own initiative to pick-up your unit by tomorrow and send it to our ASP on your behalf.

Once again rd33, we apologize for the inconvenience caused. Rest be assured, i'll personally look into this matter and make sure everything goes smoothly.

Dear MSI-MY,

Thanks for the clarification. I believe that MSI products are quite price competitive but it's the after-sales service that might worry some prospective customers e.g. me.

Is it possible to put up a list of your products on your Facebook/MSI-MY website together with the USUAL STANDARD warranty period that MSI provides? This would save you a lot of queries as well as provide valuable information for prospective customers. The difference between 1 and 2 years warranty is quite substantial for customers.

If the information is already somewhere in your MSI-MY website, my apologies. However, what I see is there's a 12 month warranty from date of purchase or 24 months from date of manufacture. I understand that this is not the case of your MSI CR650. Unfortunately, unless your prospective customer has the patience/time to query, they'd probably not know that it's actually 2 years warranty.

Just some feedback. How I don't get flamed though.... sweat.gif

Dear agewisdom,
Thanks for your suggestion. It's really a good suggestion and we will look into it. Perhaps i can advice a little here abit and perhaps people here can treat it as an official announcement. I'll try to keep it simple and easy to understand.

1. The standard warranty for MSI Notebook is 2 years while MSI Netbook is 1 year.
2. The warranty period starts from the day you purchase. Therefore the receipt is the ultimate reference for your warranty period.
3. In cases where our customer lost their receipt, we will trace the manufacturing date and it will replace the receipt as the ultimate reference.
4. The last reference is from your product registration online.
5. For RMA cases, customer can walk-in to our ASP, E-Maintenance which cover almost nationwide. http://my.msi.com/service/msinewmap/
6. MSI Malaysia does not provide on-site warranty but we do provide on-site pick up if customer is located far from our service center.
7. Our warranty procedure for Notebook is different from Component. For component, customer has to go back to reseller. Reseller may help you to RMA it on your behalf. If they do not, then they will advice you to send to which disti for RMA.
8. Components RMA is handled by local disti and they will send it to our ASP, which is a local ASP.

Dear tongaz86,
I'm sorry that currently our dealers from JB has not ordered GE620. While courts only has GT683. I'll update you once there's a dealer order it. Cheers.

I hope that clarifies enough.

Dear MSI-MY,

Thanks. Now this information is really crystal clear. rclxm9.gif
At least, if any of your prospective customers go to your website/facebook first, they'll have a clear idea what to expect. So, if the dealers says 3 years warranty or it's on-site warranty, they'll know it's not covered by MSI but the dealer's own package. Easier to bargain/make decision. laugh.gif

Dear Batusai and Swordsmen,
I'm sorry that upgrading is really out of our hand. It lies on the hand of the dealer/reseller you purchased from. We hope you understand.

Swordsmen,
It's up do the dealers you purchased from whether they accept upgrading or not. However, i'll try to bring this issue to the management and let's see if can do anything to Lowyat.NET community. No promises but i'll try.
