Hey guys, got a friend gonna be in the market soon for a laptop. Usage very normal, little/no gaming at all. Main usage is typing documents, bring to lectures, watching movies and dramas and whatever else girls normally do... k drama? facebook?

Anyways, budget is around the RM3.5k mark requirements are (in order of importance)
- 13.3" maybe up to 14"
- built quality
- slim profile but still has dvd drive built in (if not possible then nvm)
- very little keyboard flex
- good screen

mac air too ex, and not big enough hard drive also no dvd drive...

Guys, need your recommendation for a new laptop for university.

Brand : A reliable one. (good international service as i'll be going overseas for studies )

Price : Below 3.5k preferably

Size : maybe 14' or 15' ?

Usage : mid level gaming, movies, surfing.

If you guys need any more info, pls ask. Not sure what other info you need to determine a suitable laptop for me. :/ Also, maybe you guys could give me a couple of choices so i could go down to lowyat plaza to have a look at the laptops. THanks in advance guys!

What's the price range for these two? And do they both have international warranties ? Or do I have to buy the warranties separately.

Under RM 3.5K depends the spec.
Asus has 2 years international. Dell has one year default, but onsite warranty.

Does the Vaio VPCSB26FG, i5-2410M + AMD HD6470@RM3299[1.72kg], colors: White/Silver/Pink/Blue/Black come with DVD drive?
and i saw on Sony website the list price as RM2999, any difference in configuration? > http://www.sony.com.my/product/vpcsb26fg

The U46Sv should be able to do a lot more than that hehe, especially with the Nvidia GPU driver updated wub.gif
As for the Vaio units, the prices and specs were obtained from the latest Sony product catalog, which appears to be slightly different than online specifications, so I can't really say which one is correct laugh.gif
But of course if possible, go for the cheaper one laugh.gif
How about ThinkPad Edge E420/ E420s? brows.gif
Lenovo
ThinkPad Edge E420, i5-2410M + Intel HD3000@RM2799[2.2kg], W7P; 18 months on-site warranty
ThinkPad Edge E420, i5-2410M + AMD HD6630@RM3099[2.2kg], W7P; 18 months on-site warranty
ThinkPad Edge E420s, i5-2410M + Intel HD3000@RM3299[1.88kg], W7P; 18 months on-site warranty
ThinkPad Edge E420s, i5-2410M + AMD HD6630@RM3699[1.88kg], W7P; 18 months on-site warranty

They're slim, solid and user-friendly wub.gif

As long as you started your customization with the variant starting at price RM2359 at Dell's website, it'll have backlit keyboard nod.gif
Just look out for "Dell Keyboard with Touchpad with Backlit(English)for WW" in the spec sheet laugh.gif
