QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Aug 20 2011, 08:39 PM) I have to disagree though lolx.. maybe so.. ^^.. i noob.. I always believe it depends on model lines... Aspires will never be as good as TimelineX etc. As astria sifu said before... they must've cut corners somewhere which makes them capable of selling at cheaper prices, and I doubt the low price is because of their good marketing connections like Apple's production of iPads Added on August 20, 2011, 8:41 pm dayum, if I need a laptop, I'd definitely get that one from you So a nice deal.... [dreams shattered] Anyway, grats on your sales bro~ Told you sure can sell one ~ haha.. agree wit ur comments too... XD |

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Aug 19 2011, 02:39 PM) You need to make sure the laptop is covered by international warranty I'm looking for something less than rm1700, since this probably wont be my main working computer. I need it for doing my office work (word/ppt/excel) on the go, do some blogging, and also for watching movies during long travel or when i'm away from home for some time.. need it to be light, something i can always carry around with me. wont hurt also if it can run spss statistical softwareOther than that, Dell M102z is a great choice~ Anyway, you're buying here or there? Mind sharing your budget? Usage? Something lite below RM1.7k, so i was gunning for either 10 or 12 incher.. looking for the best value for money within that range.. among my finalist were hp dm1, thinkpad edge 11, sony vaio Y, fujitsu lifebook ph521 and asus 1215b-e350 (but never available). then i came across dell m102z which seems better than hp dm1, only a bit more bulkier.. and cannot cuba pegang tengok cause no one is selling.. online only.. then i happen to also be going to taiwan in october, so just wondering whether i should try and get an asus there with better price, but really dont know what to expect over there.. so if im not confident with buing a lappy in taiwan, i'll probably order that dell m102z online from dell malaysia, though i really hope i could hold it in my hand first before buy.. thanks Nik |

Closest, Dell Inspiron 14, i5-2410M + AMD HD6470@RM2099
But Core i3 model would get you better GPU... Toshiba Satellite L745-1050X, i3-2310 + Nvidia GT525M@RM1999 |

Acer/Asus has weaker GPU for that budget, nVidia GT520M..
I can't comment on the sound, the Y570 has the weaker GT555M, its using the weakest GT555M which just a upgraded GT540M, the HD6770M in DV6 would do better. |

Need a recommendation for a new laptop based on the requirements below:
Brand: No idea...as long as its reliable. Usage: Mainly work, Excel, Word, with lots of referencing to PDF graphics files, photo-editing with Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop. Daily surfing and some light gaming...don't need mind-blowing graphics and bass-laden sound effects. Budget: About 2k to 2.5k Size: Anything 13" and above Thanks! |

That was quick! Thanks for the recommendations.
Do I really need a 2GB graphics card? When I said gaming...well, let's just say that I'm the kind that still finds the old Counterstrike with bots fun... Hoping to keep the price about 2k to 2.2-2.3k |

Can consider
Dell Inspiron 14R, i5-2410M + AMD HD6630@RM2299 Not necessarily need 2GB GPU, its just that they offer it and no 1GB option.. and those price mentioned are RRP, you could get it lower on market.. |

Hoping to keep the price about 2k to 2.2-2.3k And we dun usually judge the GPU performanc by the amount of VRAM hehe~ Still can consider Acer's TimelineX4830Tg Otherwise, can consider these too: Acer Aspire 4755G, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT540M(2GB)@RM2299 , 3 years warranty Asus A43Sv, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT540M(1GB)@RM2349[2.44kg] Dell Inspiron 14R, i5-2410M + AMD HD6630@RM2299, *Big Giant Plaid!Lid |
