They can alway install OSX Lion or even snow Leopard. I dont think there will be the problem for older, compatible hardware for a PC/Laptop

Added on October 29, 2012, 12:32 pm
Your hardware is rather old. I did a google search, it seem like your best suitable OSX is 10.5.2 with limitation to 1 core and also no QE support.

ok, tq bro.. maybe i'll try to get another old time rig.. then post it here.. maybe the one with c2d.. but i'll post the info once the hardware confirm ok.. heheh

I think best not to try. Save yourself the headache. It'll be hard to find people doing the same thing for help or ideas. The oldest chipset that I'm confident of installing OS X is Intel 945G.

tq bro.. i'll find some other old rig that might be compatible..

you left out a key component. What is the motherboard brand and model.
Alway remember, motherboard is the most important part for a Hackintosh.

I found this from old tonymacx86 forum : http://legacy.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=21862

Have this working on my old HP..

Note on HP hardware for this machine:
Enable VT in the BIOS (its under Security for some reason)
Enable AHCI
Must use PS/2 keyboard and tab through installation until you can get multibeast installed with User DSDT.aml on the desktop. (then USB works more reliably)
Audio works with newest VoodooHDA
LAN working with BCM5722D.kext
Has no onboard video, using Quadro FX 380 fully supported

so should not be a problem install OSX Lion 10.7.1

That ITX case is useful only if you're happy with integrated graphics and low watt CPU. Notice it doesn't give you any space for PCIe slot. And low watt means no quad core. A much better case for ITX would be this one from Antec.

The PSU is evidently sufficient to power a Core i7.

But the further you look at their cases and count the cost, you'll inevitably come to question whether it's better to flat out get a real Mac Mini. After all it's only 1899.

If you can boot up with -x then most likely one of 2 things.

1. Oemsmbios.kext
2. VT-d needs to be disabled

What board and CPU are you using?

k processors don't have VT-d so hopefully it's just a simple matter of deleting OemSMBIOS.kext.

Whoops sorry its non K, it does have VT-d support.

I couldnt get it working anyway, it wasn't OemSMBIOS....I tried various things but still didnt work..very strange.....

The furthest I could get it was till it was stuck in the grey screen with the pattern behind...booting with -v ran all the way through. this was when I used the HD4000 instead of my 6850's display. With the 6850 I just got a white screen.

Safe mode doesnt work....-v showed that it was stuck in AMDRadeonAccelerator I think....I renamed a couple of Kext's, tried all kinds of bootups, etc but still couldnt get it to work. Ended up doing a restore with time machine, booted from Unibeast then ran Multibeast again. Haha

Live to fight another day....will probably do more research before I give it another go...

Does anyone know what the default values are for npci and PCIRootUID that the Unibeast installer uses and for Chimera after installation to a HD?

Did you did a full backup to another HDD before you applied the update?
If yes, then boot via the backup. Then do a repair permisson on the HDD you just install the 10.8.2 update. I solve a few CP and unbootable situation using this method

Not sure. For a success Hackintosh, it is not just about can install and run. Also about backup and contingency plan to recover from "shit happen" situation.

I ALWAY do a full clone on my current working HDD to another separate Backup HDD BEFORE I apply any update/Patches. If "shit happen", I can still boot from Backup HDD and clone back is I cannot resolve the problems.

I do hope anyone who use their hackintosh as Main rig should have this kind of practise.
