guys, can recommend the cheapest working motherboard pair with i5 2300?
looking into garage sale, the model no is not 100% same with tonymacx recommend

example:
tonymacx recommend Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3P but in garage sale only got GA-B75M-D3V
*
GA-B75M-D3V works fine. Ethernet, audio, manual sleep and even USB3. Only thing that doesn't work is Mute. Very straightforward install. What GPU you plan to use?

Agreed, for casual gaming, a single slot GT640 1GB can be had for as little as RM280. Nice and cheap and low power. Even HD4000 is enough if not into much gaming.
B75M + i3-3225 for a budget build.

ya. invest money for other key components like Ram 8GB is more than enough under mountain Lion. SSD is a must because you will get the best overall performance improvement.
Now all my laptop, pc are upgrade to SSD.
My MBP13 is just 60gb SSD with 500gb at optibay for data/ storage. This setup is more than enough for surfing, word processing and media streaming

That sounds like a manually managed Fusion drive you have there. :-) SSDs best bang for the buck upgrade I've ever done.

why dont you just list down all the components in you desktop first? most important is the Motherboard and VGA card. Other components still secondary

Not complicated at all. You just need to buy these 2 components, plug in the mini pcie wifi card to the adapter. Plug the assembled into your motherboard. Your Hackintosh will recognized straight.
I am glad with its performance especially dual band support. My house is full with 2.4Ghz devices. With my recent upgrade to dual band router (Asus RT-AC66U). Now only got 3 devices (Hackintosh, MBP and Ipad3) connected under 5Ghz band. Less crowded.

Thanks for your advice.

I bought the above for rm89. Mac drivers are for Lion but installs and runs fine in MLion as well as Windows 7 smile.gif

doh.gif Nevermind, I thought it was a Bluetooth adaptor.

Here's an article on hack-compatible WiFi adaptors.

Personally I'm using the AR9285 mini-pcie that came with my motherboard.

Not sure about ATI5470 but HD2000 won't work. Suggest a i3 3225 CPU which has HD4000 or use a cheap GT520 or GT210. Or an old GPU like a 9500GT or 8400GS is good too.

If just normal use and no gaming. Goes for Ivy Bridge with Intel HD4000. More than enough.

For those who're thinking of trying to install OSX on your PC, to less you headache, go with the current iMac, MacMini, MBP or MacPro specs, least you should go with -1 version. Any lesser specs will not worth to continue with your dream.

They can alway install OSX Lion or even snow Leopard. I dont think there will be the problem for older, compatible hardware for a PC/Laptop

Your hardware is rather old. I did a google search, it seem like your best suitable OSX is 10.5.2 with limitation to 1 core and also no QE support.

I think best not to try. Save yourself the headache. It'll be hard to find people doing the same thing for help or ideas. The oldest chipset that I'm confident of installing OS X is Intel 945G.
