You just need to press F9 or F11 (not sure anymore) and there you can choose to restore your notebook to factory settings. But the thing is that I dont need all that crap that is installed with the factory settings.

Hmm never tried that before.
Anyway you can(or should) do a full reinstall with Windows 7 DVD, then install back the drivers that are necessary. nod.gif

download a copy of win7 HPremium, and burn it onto a disk (there is a tool call windows 7 dvd burner)
then boot up into ur dvd (boot>esc>boot order dvd 1st hhd 2nd) then install following the steps.
then use the sticker under ur comp as a product key.
later when all is done, just go in the system page in ur comp and activate through sms/phone
itz a 1300 number so ur bill is gonna skyrocket.
F9, is the ASUS OEM version, bringing back to the mint condition u 1st got the laptop from shop.
the only flaws is that the bloatwares actually do more harm that fresh installing through f9 again.

fac reset through the copy of win 7 Hp means itz totally clean n u choose what u want.
but u nid download all the drivers later.
-this is the way to go if u want to play games and work on a better system.

BUT with all advices i give, factory reset is pointless if
-u want to degrade ur HHD faster.
-you dont maintain and sort ur comp properly.

Pressing the F9 during boot or at the desktop? rclxub.gif

Mind to explain more about the "degrade of HDD"? I often defragment my HD drive, will it degrade?

when reformatting, u are basically wiping the hhd all with 0000, then loading 00101011 back on it.
which will stress the disk because
-each disk has limited read/write times before errors occur
-constant running prolonged r/w through reformatting and reinstalling and installation of programs and music data etc will have an impact or ur drive mechanics (r/w head, and spin motor) as well as reducing the number or r/w avaliable

I always say when ur seriously broke something then only reformat. (like my very nice case where i got a boot up with a white background with ERROR in red and jams, yeah i cannot do any shit that time, just go asus scentre .)

defragging should be fine but not too ofthen. (once ever 1-2 weeks is fine) i havent done mine since months ago, itz still fine.
just keep stuff sorted, registry not clutted cache etc and itz should be fine.

hhd degrade through r/w, r/w head bumping into disks (bad sectors) and motor failure is the main problem with hhd.

f9 during boot.

Wow learned something here. rclxub.gif Thanks. Always thought that only SSD will "degrade" if defragment. notworthy.gif

But just to be clear, by hhd you actually means hdd, hard disc drive right?

So I can just download Windows 7, burn it on a dvd and use that to completely wipe my hard drive and do a fresh install?

I can download the drivers here I suppose?

Don't worry about reformating, it won't do more damage compared to just normal use.

OK guys im having trouble on burning CD/DVD im sure my dvd drive working fine. the problem is i tried to burn simple data files on cd. I have tried using nero12, roxio and the worst i tried windows explorer burning but still once completed burning. When i check back by inserting the CD/DVD it shows empty at times the light on the dvd drive keeps on blinking. Any solution in this?

i tried burning on my friends laptop just using windows explorer. It works perfectly fine.

Im using windows 8.1 pro 64bit.
