I wish to post this again here as I have been receiving too many PM from new users these past few days asking me about rooting and flashing. I have post this in page 1 post #4 but seems most new users all want instant mee answers and just do not care to read the page 1 :
MY TIPs on Flashing and Rooting : I STRONGLY suggest you readup the features of the roms you wish to flash. You will get yourself into trouble if you don't do that. Do not just jump in to flash the easy way trying to follow some rules without understanding the features of the rom you wish to flash The different roms in XDA has these features : 1. Some will wipe clean your phone while some will not 2. Some will auto root for you while some will not 3. Some requires you to root it yourself after flashing using an insecure kernel method 4. Some roms required you to wipe clean ( ie factory/hard reset ) ; some will not - is optional step. But my advise is it is better to wipe clean ( hard reset ) so you start with a new plate , again is optional I always recommend for new users, the easiest way of getting yourself started : ROOT ONLY - easiest method use Supercurio Rom flash - start with Litening - as using it , you learn how to use Odin. Also flashing this rom will NOT wipe your phone clean. Flashing this rom will AUTO ROOT your phone and a ClockworkMod recovery installed at same time Recovery - use Chainfire v4.0 . You will need recovery installed if you wish to do a nandroid backup and full restore of your rom. Some roms required you to flash using RECOVERY mode and not through Odin. Some roms even auto installed Chainfire recovery when you flash it So the GOLDEN RULE is please READ the features of the rom you want to flash - check whether it use Odin or through recovery ??? Does it install recovery auto for you ?? Does the rom wipe clean your phone ?? Another GOLDEN rule : ALWAYS ALWAYS wipe clean cache partition and in ADvanced mode - clear Dalvik cache BEFORE you flash a new rom - this will avoid reboots keep looping or phone fail to boot after flash. This also means it is in a way compulsory you install a RECOVERY first before attempting to flash a new rom. If you are lucky you could have a successful flash; if you are unlucky you will curse yourself because you want a fast way REMINDER AGAIN : NEW users - PLEASE read page 1 - spent some time - I have put in much effort to complie FAQ n Tech issue matters ; Most of your answers are most probably there . This thread is growing so fast , I have even problem maintaining it . It grows so fast because of repeated questions and new users just too " lazy " to read page 1 This post has been edited by benny888: Jul 9 2011, 09:38 PM |

I was in Johor Baru City Square yesterday. Maxis has a booth promoting the phone and its packages. talk to several promoters - generally response is poor and getting the phone on the spot is easy
Maybe all Johoreans ( including me ) prefer just go Spore to buy and the amount of type of accessories in Spore is just amazing. Johor Baru cannot even find one decent shop selling good accessories - all are mainly chap piau Everyone in KL screaming to buy IPAD 2 - I went to Machines - no issue of buying on spot too This post has been edited by benny888: Jul 9 2011, 09:43 PM |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Jul 9 2011, 02:03 PM) Why don;t you list it here I already recognize csc and modem but other 2 file have no indication whether pda or else.i cannot post the file name here since i dowbliad frm my work station.but i can confirm all tar files not pit. FYI i download the rom (xwkf1 touchwiz) from sammfirmware.there is guideline but didnt help much.Anyway - just look at the file names - is obvious : the one you see with word phone or modem - PHONE, CSC = CSC, main file - PDA . The other file is probably the pit file ?? List here so I can verify fro you |

finally got my unit from senq, uncle benny please add my name to list.
sgs2 + rm2099 plusone membership + rm12 member discount - rm50 pwp sd card & bluetooth + RM99 6 mth installment + RM0 and get a umbrella and a football from lucky draw. first impression, the phone is so thin and light, couldn't really feel it in pocket and feels like it can easily break into 2 pieces, lol and opening the rear cover can be a nightmare... also facing 2 times suddenly screen turn black and need to power on again on the way back to home, but the battery is not really empty, now charging 8hr and hope that will not happen again. and a question, where can check our phone born country? i found made in china for the battery, but the phone itself only wrote "made by samsung" well who don't know it's not made by htc =.=" even the box didn't write anything... currenly using this funny casing lol ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us This post has been edited by xakarix84: Jul 9 2011, 10:44 PM |
