Josh totally impressed me. He proved me wrong, I never liked him before.
I have mistaken that wholefully. Now I can say, he is our future.

QUOTE(Kerplunk @ Aug 1 2011, 10:50 AM) Lovely game vs aston villa the other day, especially in the first half! We seem to be making definite progress as each pre-season game takes place and this is an indication of how effective AVB’s team preparation is going. i do think we still need modric. because you have to remember, benayoun and josh aint going to be fit through out the season. you have to consider if one or both of them is injured, then we have almost no creative force in the midfield. still, i love to watch benayoun plays more than lamps nowadays. Our passing and movement looked sharp, and we made aston villa look really-really ordinary although they did appear to be tired (for some reason). Anelka was causing mayhem with his movement, josh composed as usual with a nicely taken albeit slightly fortuitous goal, and torres scored with his first touch. Studge was a bit on the selfish side, but definitely should stay and fight for a place. I’m against any loan move whatsoever because he can be our game-changer. Just needs to keep his head up a little bit, and look for a teammate when he runs into too much traffic. We still looked very disjointed with a 4-4-2, and if we plan to use this as our ‘plan B,’ there’s much work to be done. But with the little time we have left, I’m not sure if this should be a priority. Can’t wait for us to take on rangers, as AVB mentioned that the team which starts will more or less be the first eleven to face stoke. Doubt he’ll go for the didier and torres partnership again, even though nando got his goal in that formation. Fact is, its malouda’s misplaced shot that lead to it more than anything else. But I still credit torres for his good awareness and deft touch. Oh and best of all, we haven’t conceded a single goal in pre-season! Now i’m not so sure we need someone like modric, because benny and josh seem to be capable of handling that role? Luka’s expertise lies in his ability to make the midfield ‘tick,’ linking defense and attack and controlling the tempo of play. Is this what we desperately need right now? I’d prefer if we got someone who can improve our wing-play, such as juan mata or Ibrahim afellay. At the moment our team looks reasonably quick, but could do with more speed down the flanks to stretch the opponents' defence. and yes, i do agree we need pacey wingers. i said this many times before, as a chelsea fan, i want wingers like we used to have in Robben and Duff! |

I guess I’m just pretty optimistic about the both of them making an impact on our squad, rather than splashing a ton of money on a player, to a club who obviously don’t want to sell. But an over reliance on benny and josh might be our undoing as well, like u said. Benny is susceptible to injury and as much as I hate to admit it, josh it still relatively raw. I just think for the amount of money we’ll probably get extorted for, I’d expect more of an ‘x-factor’ kind of player who can create something out of nothing, which modric isn’t.and yes, i do agree we need pacey wingers. i said this many times before, as a chelsea fan, i want wingers like we used to have in Robben and Duff! Whoever comes in, we just have to hope it greatly enhances our squad. Ahh the good ol’ duff and robben combo. It seems almost every Chelsea fan feels the need for that type of player, except those who run the club! I’d settle even for just one winger right now although the lack of names we’re being linked with suggests it’s not an area we’re keen on strengthening. |

QUOTE(nanamiwashio @ Aug 2 2011, 02:50 AM) lol dat time he was more like an 'raw talent'. sure everyone wants him.it's not just chelsea & roman That's a huge risk for us to grab Modric that time. He was small, he was not physically strong, he was not fast. No one thinks that he can suit EPL.like sneijder at ajax, though many praises on his performance..he was quite 'late' to be in another level (la liga w Madrid) Overall, it was Modric years of hard work in spurs which turned himself into a world class player. And he did it. Well, I prefer wingers than Modric anytime now. Look at the friendly matches, we're slow in both flanks(which are the fastest sides other teams have,eg: MU). We can't stretch opponent defense with flanks, causing our strikers have no space. (This is the reason why our strikers rarely score nowadays.) We need some quick wingers, that can stretch opponent defense and CROSS. Our crosses were freaking terrible. I see AVB got pissed of by that too. Hope he can do something. Besides that there’s always messi, ronaldo, etc. neymar and eden hazard can also be inserted into this category imo. In our current squad, I have high hopes of kakuta reaching those heights as he’s shown he definitely has the ability, but it’s still early days. but we will have piazon by next season is it? thats why. so boring! sikit sikit city je. sneijder is tempting, but his wage demands are..scary to say the least, and i think its also one of the factors we didn't go all out to get aguero. yepp piazon will be arriving in january if i'm not mistaken! too bad he's not with the squad now, so AVB can assess him. I don’t like where we’re going with the zhirkov situation. We intend to sell him off and bid for modric, so who’s going to cover for malouda when he has an injury / a dip in form? Again spurs have reiterated their ‘stance’ and its getting really old now. Hoping against hope that we get someone to compete with malouda for the left wing position. No competition can only mean one thing as demonstrated by last season, i.e complacency. |

i don't like the fact the Mr. Ron announced that there will be not many offload activity. if we based on that, the likes of Kalou, Malouda & Anelka will be staying much longer when obviously they not even qualify to be sit on the bench. Anelka still considerable but Kalou will always be Kalou. it's up to AVB to figure out how to rotate his players while controlling their ego in the same time.

In the most optimistic corner of my mind, I feel that AVB thinks he can get the best out of these players, which is why there hasn't been a spending spree. Maybe he has astounding powers of psychological persuasion to coerce the likes of Malouda, Bosingwa, Kalou, Mikel, Ferreira and Anelka to NOT mess things up and actually EARN their paychecks.
Having said that, HAHAHAHAHAHA. No, that's really quite far fetched. I think Roman has tightened the purse strings again after divesting 70mil of his fortune in January. We track Aguero for years and then we just let him run off to City? All that talk about Neymar and Lukaku has resulted in nothing again, as it never will. Modric? Nope. Pastore? We didn't even stand a chance for some reason. Even a transfer that had seemed straightforward like van der Wiel hasn't materialised. And we DESPERATELY need a new right back. AVB better have something up his sleeve, otherwise we're in for a horrendous season. |
