hey , newbie question here , just wondering if FX4300 is 4 real core or 2 real core 2 virtual core and also same goes with FX 6350 . one more thing , what to see in a processor to determine which is good ? Thanks
can u define good? if in term of IPC (instruction per cycle), power efficiency, multitasking etc, intel are generally better. FX still got alot to catch up but not really that bad for 24/7 machine.

Ever since the launch of bulldozer series, FX41xx/61xx & 81xx AMD has been using module system for their cpu's cores...
They have what some would call 1 1/2 core per module system where certain elements in the cpu are sharing the same resource..
well said sir...

Reading all about Kaveri has really gotten me interested on how it would work out - if you see those leaked slides from AMD the current FX series will be used till 2015... That just sealed my decision to not buy one. Can't make myself buy something when a new release is on the horizon

It's already been reputed by AMD that the alleged slide showing AM3+ socket is dead is actually a hoax slide..
AMD never made any slide stating their cpu release plan more than a 2 years timeframe..
http://www.gamersnexus.net/news/1240-futur...cpus-fx-not-eolimo u should wait n see bro, nowadays AMD is learning fast (from intel), new chips most likely require new socket (d trend now is white socket for older gen while black socket for new, eventhou they are quite similar). kinda disappointed with d news that Kaveri APU confirmed (from what i read) need a new socket (fm2+, black socket) mobo in order for it to run, older fm2 mobo can't accommodate d new chips. pretty sure non APU streamroller will be on newer socket (than AM3+)...
