exactly what i'm trying to say, nothing crucial enough to make me change my current setup to get this official 3.2

by the way, rooted users doesn't need to to wait for Asus to release the source code, I remember i was already on Prime long before Asus release the source. I think what you referring to is those OC kernels.

I'm hoping the zoom feature will not be similar like what ipad is having, IMHO that is UGLY !!! images are stretched and things looks rough

but early kernals are unstable and doesnt have some of the Asus only feature, like NTFS support and the keyboard dock info, and looking to the trend right now, new kernals will only be available once asus has release their source code also, means if they don release at all, rooted users will not get any updates, unless using back stock kernal
*
i think u got it mixup , rooted users doesnt necessarily uses different kernels.

i'm rooted and on custom rom Prime and the kernel it uses is 100% same same with the Asus default kernel and i really prefer stock kernel as of now cuz i don't see value for OC "yet" hehe

Added on July 28, 2011, 4:15 pm2 questions left:
1. 1080p HD video playback capability and hardware accelation support. This one my guess may not happen... hmm too bad.

*
have you tried DicePlayer ? I don't have 1080p videos so cant test, but 720p is working beautifully with hw acceleration and support dts/ac3 soundtrack as well

what i meant was for users on custom kernals and roms, for u, u will need to wait for Prime to cook up another rom version to update, and that would be days later... i didnt got it mixed up, it's just that i'm kinda assuming ost root users will be on custom roms/ kernals, OC has some value, especially if u are playing Asphalt 6(seriously), some other games also show improvement like big bang racing, it became smoother also

if u don mind, can u find out the video/audio detail of the file u are playing, is it a high profile? and what bitrate it has, etc etc
*
Yeah, i prefer to wait few days for Prime rather than the stock rom, few days is ok. It will be a different story though if this release is IceCream, hahaha then i would jump into it immediately tongue.gif

one of the video i tried, the detail here

if i play this same video via all other players, it still stutters

Tested the diceplayer, same problem also. is more to the hardware accelaration support. Software acce not good enuf.

I prefer Vplayer or BSPlayer. BSPlayer is free,  but Vplayer more user friendly for me. Vplayer also play more format from MKV, RMVB, MOV, WMV and AVi.
*
huh ?? Diceplayer does support hw acceleration and v1.5 officially supports Tegra 2 leh ..

interesting, as far as i know high profile starting 2.x already having some performance issue, this one can be smooth with CABAC and 4.0 profile... looking forward to test it when my TF is back home...
btw, u got test using anime? wanna see how ASS behave in it, does it align properly, or just convert back to srt style
*
hehe , the above detail is from naruto shippudden anime loh tongue.gif

didn't pay too much attention on the subs cuz was really happy to be able to watch the anime smoothly. Yeah, DicePlayer v1.5 can play up to profile 4.0, the older versions cannot. Later i go home try out subs then let u know

but the subtitle are having the same color and positioning as u play on desktop right? cos ASS are quite tricky on supports de, just scare everything misplaced, messed up
*
OK, tested. the way it supports embedded is a bit funny. When u play that mkv with embedded subs for the first time, the player will extract the embedded subs into a separate srt file. once that process is completed, it will be loaded automatically whenever that movie is played.

I would say color is different from viewing on PC but you do have the option to change the appearance in the settings. Positioning remain correct! and u have on the fly option to delay/advance the srt in 0.5 second unit. very usable I would say.

u can do that, or just wait till the tab prompts you that a new firmware is available. Its pretty automated.

It seem 3.2 mess up keyboard dock firmware for me... my trackpad going haywire already... on 3.1 i don't have any battery drain prob but since 3.2 battery drain like crazy...

It turn out touching the trackpad wake my TF... on 3.1 touch trackpad this prob never happen...

Added on August 10, 2011, 1:30 pmUpdate: It seem the trackpad wake only happen when the device just recently going to sleep... If after 2-3 minutes it wont wake up...

Anyone can confirm tis..?
*
I noticed the same behavior on 3.1 as well and if you wakes the tab via touchpad it will drain battery for the session until next reboot

I use system panel for both phone and tablet but only for monitoring purposes mainly. I only kill Apps if they hang or not responding.
Memory wise I think the system knows better than me haha

installed Dice Player for a try... while it does give smoother playback, it's still rather laggy... still thinking whether to buy or not to buy  :S

however, yesterday bought Grand Prix Story without hesitation... that game is super awesomely addictive
*
no need buy first ... just use the demo version until they sort out everything tongue.gif

btw, what type movie makes it laggy ?? On my transformer, its only laggy if i uses SW decode (Mobo handles SW decodes much better)

oh ya and welkam back !!!

yeah, to me 3.2 doesn't seems to do much. What i've noticed, apps that previously auto scale does the same now and apps that previously doesnt autoscale u can make it bigger but uglier which defeat the purpose lol

about dice, yeah .. i'm enjoying it too , at least can watch most of my anime without doing any conversion (time consuming) . will continue to use the demo(it can still work after 3 days tongue.gif) until they fix everything, then will purchase.

i have not had the time to do a proper test yet (wife and son hogging the tablet and dun have enough of tablet free time) but yes... from the general observation on my own TF... i have to say:
* the dock itself discharges battery quite fast (even when tablet is not docked)
* discharging is also fast when tablet is docked -- even if its on standby

observations made based on:
* charging both together and then undocking and leaving dock alone
* docked the tablet later on and using the dual battery widget to show the battery level

for the discharging when docked... could be apps i installed... but again, no time to do proper and more scientific testing.

i remember a few nights ago, my tablet went to 0% from about 60% battery in 24hrs even though it was supposedly on standby. i suspect its one of the apps... though not sure which.
*
hmm this is suspicious, few nights ago my tab went flat as well abnormally as well. The next day i plug in rebooted and checked the battery history , it seems that it was awake for quite a few hours for that night eventhough it was on standby/screen off. I suspected some google apps did something in the background.
