yes the weight is heavy especially with the dock but that's because the dock has the battery pack inside that's why its heavy but I really like the whole netbook idea as I didnt have a netbook or notebook prior to owning the TF101 so to me its quite a treat.
*
i already have a netbook, an Asus as well... thats why i bought just the tablet...

no thanks i don't want to carry 1 real netbook and 1 'netbook wannabe' around...

slim things which are densely packed does give the impression that it is very heavy.

worse still, the asus netbook is also 10.1 inches so it looks almost the same as the TF with the dock, but running windows doh.gif doh.gif

Just buy tf without the dock... it is an awesome table amid the background processes might drain the power real fast. Just be careful on what you are gonna install.
*
welcome to the no-dock-tablet-only club. > we are an endangered species since most people buy with the dock.

it was very hard to find the Asus without the dock (in Penang at least)

run your machine lean and mean, i choose software that does not leave stray background processes running for no reason.

be careful with 3rd party keyboards, some are bloated and consume much more memory than they need to.

widgets, toolbars, shortcut bars and fancy live wallpapers are a no-no for me.

if you are rooted, you also can use 3rd party app manager (tons of free ones) to freeze unwanted apps (bloatware) from Asus / OEMs.

nice...hehe..cant wait for another 5 hours..hehhe..
one more question, can all the apps and games at androit market use at this transformer??or only the honeycomb compatible apps that can be use??
*
i don't see the logic behind the idea of charging for 8 hours.

you probably can unplug and use it when the battery is full, no need to wait for another 5 hours.

but use it until the battery is completely depleted and the TF shuts down or gets to 1% and charge it again to 100%

repeat this 3 - 5 times to fully condition the battery before normal usage.

as of now B70 and B80 can't be rooted......just hang on and wait till someone breaks the root....
*
again, a gentle reminder.

some B70 can be rooted, like mine.

all B80 can't be rooted as of yet.

Wanna ask why some forum cant copy a line of text? No problem for lyn..
*
the way android renders some websites means :

1) can't copy text correctly
2) can't open some links in new tab
3) some components in a webpage might overlap others when page is reformatted
4) text might not reflow correctly after a custom zoom
5) (feel free to add more bugs that you've encountered)

sorry, 1 noob question..

how to safely remove asus TF from your pc after finish copying data??is the asus synce necessary??

thanks..
*
if i am not mistaken, it is using MTP protocol when connected to PC.

there is no safely remove, you can just unplug the usb cable.

because it is using MTP protocol, copying files over is slower than standard mass storage mode of other devices like Nokia's.

anyone can help me?
my tablet don't want to charge. I try to charge but it doesn't blink or anything.HELPP!!!
*
your charger is overheating

1) unplug and put it in a cool place - let fan blow, stick it in your freezer
2) remove the tablet from the keyboard dock (un-transform it) duh...
3) shutdown the tablet - press and hold power button - choose shutdown
4) when the charger has sufficiently cooled down, plug in it to the wall power
5) plug the charger tip in to the tablet directly, not to the dock.
6) it will power up automatically and continue charging

the charger heats up considerably when it tries to charge both the tablet and keyboard dock at the same time and automatically shuts down.

if this does not work, either your charger, or the usb cable or the tablet is faulty.

and please dont say you are using usb 2.0 male-to-female cable to extend the charger cable because that wont work !!

hi all..

what is the best video player for android tablet?
*
three choices :

1) dice player
2) mx player
3) mobo player

imho, dice player is the best, but no free version

Added on September 2, 2011, 7:28 pmactually there are other players as well, try searching in android market see what suits your needs

even though dice player has really good h/w playback support the interface is plain simple

the advantage of using h/w acceleration to play videos - longer battery life, much longer...

The best player is MX Player & Dice Player.

Anyway if hot (outdoor) use, beware... it crash and once shutdown, you can turn on till is cooled.

One more thing, Corning Gorilla Glass...MY FOOT, spot a small scar. Have to use Screen Protector. Not taking further risk. sad.gif
*
tell us, how the 'scar' came to be on the invincible Gorilla Glass ?

the glass is not invincible or unscratchable. it depends on what material is used to damage it. for example, try rubbing bits of sand on it and you'll have a nice mark on the "invincible" glass smile.gif

for those who really want to add on another layer of security, it is best to have at least some sort of screen protector on it. those who don't mind bits of scratches as their tablet ages, go ahead, no one is stopping you.
*
'invincible' was meant as a pun... wink.gif

if you check few pages back you can see my 'article' on materials that can possibly/proven to scratch the Gorilla Glass.

*

Yes.

switching on when the charger/dock pork attached is normal behavior of the TF

but since you are able to shutdown using the power button, i think we can exclude the power button being faulty physically.

weird...

i am plagued with all sorts of problems with the stock browser...

fresh reflash and wipe data sure ok... after a while start to lag like hell for no reason...

honeycomb still has a long way to go...

at least opera mobile is tons better...

i wish chrome / chromium comes to honeycomb...the default 'browser'sucks...

google planned to merge both browsers... hopefully by the time ICS launches...

if you mean lag in browsers, yes... it affects stock browsers and also browsers like dolphin hd (from what i understand, dolphin uses the stock browser).

i think other owners reported using other browsers like opera -- no lag.

sure Google got mention merging Chrome and Android? i have not heard of such news. Honeycomb and Gingerbread... Yes.
*
http://techcrunch.com/2011/08/22/android-webkit-chromium/

a merge is coming for sure...

easier to maintain 1 single build than one 'ARM browser' and one more 'ARM chromium'

PC USB charging is very slow cause it only able to pump 500mA where it's charger pumps 2100mA that's 4x faster process. I've tried 1000mA in which it takes about 10 minutes to charge one percent.

Those who suffer light bleed & shy speaker should seek replacement or RMA it. It might not beat iPad2 speaker loudness but you enjoy stereo effect.

Btw Eee pad slider has release, I found this transformer is way better. What's your take?
*
slider cannot detach, detachable better...

those dual head usb cable used for some ext hdd can go up to 1000mA too...

hopefully next batch of transformer like the TF101G or slider comes with better charger, it will be 100% compatible to ours since the docking port will be standard among TF models

i wont blame Asus, they just picked the wrong OEM to manufacture their chargers - BAO HUI SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY CO. LTD. from China.

can everyone post their charger model and make so that we can compile ? i think my model is AD 827M type 0B 2LF

Anyone interested to get the ROOCASE Executive Leather Case or other ROOCASE @ pcmicrostore.com to share shipping cost?

Executive Leather Case sells for US$43.65 excluding shipping. Double checking the shipping cost at the moment.

Executive Leather Case comes with detachable case attached via velcro backing. Its stated that it can't fit the keyboard dock into the main case but not sure if its possible for a very tight fit.
*
it looks good... but i just spent nearly RM100 for a china-made 'fake leather' case...

i'll just wait till my current case is 'worn out' and get a better one...

Guys -

What is your opinion...I'm thinking of buying the TF101G (3G version) this weekend....cost is about 700 USD....do you think its better to pick that version up or wait for the Transformer 2 to be released?  If wait - does anyone know when we can expect to see it in Malaysia?
*
i am using TF + 3G phone using bluetooth tethering.

its a workable combo, just make sure you get 3G/3.5G capable phone that can do 7.2Mbps or 10Mbps and has Bluetooth PAN profile.

and i think power consumption using bluetooth connectivity is lower than/similar power consumption using built-in 3G radio in the TF itself.

at first i was planning to get the Motorola XOOM because it had 3G version, then i did consider waiting for galaxy tab 10.1 but...

but i just could not resist Asus... wub.gif wub.gif

Thanks for the advice, but I mean the new Transformer with built-in 3G....not a tethered...

Rumors are the Transformer 2 will be released soon - as in this month?  Have you heard anything about that?  If its not going to be released until next year I might just buy the 3G transformer...??  Everyone seems really impressed and happy with the device?
*
i know you are talking about the TF 3G version a.k.a TF101G

just giving my opinion on how to get 3G connection without the expensive TF 3G.

I dont have any problems with Joiku on N8. TF is able to detect, connect and surf fine. Using WEP open
*
thats because you are running the latest version firmware 8.6.5.9 on the TF that supports AD-HOC wireless.
