What's the difference of Mbps and Mb/s???  LoL
*
Mbps - mega bits per second

MBps - mega bytes per second

b - bits

B - bytes

obviously, MBps is faster than Mbps

usually Mbps is used to calculate transfer through network / internet / usb devices ( non-storage)

while MBps used to calculate local transfer between hard drives / usb storage devices

but in some cases it could be used interchangeably.

ermm , I know about Mbps vs MBps but was wondering whats the differences between Mbps vs Mb/s as mentioned by goldfries
*
Mbps = Mb/s

MBps = MB/s

(Mega bits/Bytes per second)

/ = p = per

so whether its written as Mbps or Mb/s its the same

as with MBps and MB/s is the same as well

i think goldfries made a mistake there.

QUOTE(BBXiong @ Sep 12 2011, 02:00 PM)
it can always be interchanged... 1 byte = 8 bit, for speed test case, most ppl are on streamyx 1MBPS, which means if u divide by 8, u get the max speed of 125kb/s, and minus the streamyx's 80% best service effort, u get around 100kb/s... if u getting 150kb/s - 180kb/s, u are on 1.5Mbps, something like that...
while on

anyway, compared to stuffing a HDD into the KBD, i'm more interested on how to force enable the USB port to continue power the plugged device even during sleep... if we get that one, then we can charge our phone even with the tablet sleeping, trully a powerful portable battery
*
but wouldn't that mess with how android keeps track of battery charging and discharging ?

it goes to sleep and battery daemon stops monitoring but battery still being drained, when it wakes up = battery has drained extensively, how is it going to re-calculate and anticipate further drain ?

unless the battery daemon is really intelligent and can guesstimate the drain while other devices being charged directly from the battery...

i know some laptops implement this kind of direct battery charging, esp Asus laptops.

for those of your having shy left speaker issue or not sure if its really shy or just the audio recorded has lower volume on left side for e.g. some movies recorded with microphones in different angles you can use some downloadable mp3 / wav files for channel test

it would say 'left channel' 'right channel' 'left channel' 'right channel' continuosly for few seconds.

the recorded voice is usually loud, and you can hear the difference if there is any volume issues between left speaker and right speaker

just google for channel test mp3 or channel test wav

i have some files, at home

i can upload if you guys need it

Added on September 12, 2011, 3:07 pmand here someone did some testing using diceplayer and various videos and compared those with galaxy tab, proving that the nvidia tegra 2 still has a long way to go before achieving perfect video decoding.

touched and felt a galaxy tab 10.1 .

feel like breaking my tf101 into half.

haha.

the smooth edges running tru ur hand. the cold aluminium back cover gives u a "cool" feeling and the camera looks great..

and it ffrreeaakkiinn vibrates !!!!

hehe.
*
1) vibration on such a big device ? whats the point, do you carry yours in your pocket ? huge pockets then... notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

2) aluminium / metal back covers - one issue i noticed on such devices, it heats up and not comfortable to the touch - take some nokia phones for e.g. - the battery produces heat / the phone produces heat / the metal cover conducts heat from your fingers/palm.

3) you will most probably use a sleeve / leather cover for your galaxy tab - even on the Asus - no point having those patterns on the back cover.

3) i agree Asus did not optimize the camera drivers on the TF. i am sure the camera module itself is good but i think they are just using generic drivers for it. they should take some lessons from Nokia. doh.gif

4) i agree galaxy tab 10.1's edges are smooth and nice.... Asus edges a bit squarish to match the keyboard dock.... thats why without the dock it looks a bit out of place...

-....etc.

.

I overlooked those things but haptic feedback is not my cup of tea...

jananan : I've given up on trying to play all files (video) on TF101. So far MX Mobo and DicePlayer played well. MKV file @ 720p no success yet.

I've tried Dice Player success playing 1080p smooth on AVI file. Not friendly on MP4 sad.gif
*
Dice player trial compared to paid version a lot of difference...

May i know the paid version advantage?
*
i tried the trial version first, was not impressed at all.

tried other players, Moboplayer and few others, same results.

but then i read on forums (mainly xda-developers) that Dice Player was the best so far.

and i was willing to spend about RM14 (beer money) on it.

i have tried a lot of 720p mkvs, 99% plays ok.

some mkv with higher bitrate stutters a bit after you FF / RW the video but it fixes itself soon enough within 30 seconds and back to being buttery smooth.

i will try 1080p one of these days and let you all know. cant fit a 1080p full movie on my sdcard or Removable (need to dump my 8Gb mem card and get a 32Gb card)

PS : tried on stock firmware with rooted kernel, no OC'ing involved. so i am pretty sure it will be much smoother if you OC to a mediore 1.4Ghz maybe...

1. for keyboard tactile feedback.  does make a difference.
2. no comment. i dont have one to prove anything.
3. i use it as it is. no cover whatsoever. just a layer of screen protector at the back. feels good.
4. bring ur tf101 and go touch a tab10.1 then u know what i meant.

holding the sharp edges of tf101 hurts my hand too even without the heat.
well it was meant to dock with the keyboard. thats the special part.
but then..just found out 15 people sold their tf101 in garage sales..most probably they are going for tab10.1
i know i m going to...hahahaha.
gave up too. tried using vplayer to play 720p mp4. got graphic no sound. sick..
in the end use back g tab to watch.
*
maybe those people selling off their TF going to buy TF slider or TF 3G or the Tegra3 based TF2 coming soon.

not necesarily going to buy Tab 10.1 hmm.gif hmm.gif

i am not saying the Tab is not good, its the same SoC as Asus TF in a sexier package.

I agree, compared to the current Galaxy Tab 10.1, everything else Asus TF, Toshiba Thrive, Motorola Xoom, Acer Iconia all look fat and bulky.

it's just all about personal preference, the Galaxy Tab also has better build quality compared to TF if u must say, but different ppl different requirement, for me i think keyboard is a cool thing to have since i be browsing a lot with it and there will be a lot of typing to do sometimes. and the 2 USB slot and extra battery is welcomed. Galaxy Tab is for ppl who wants a sexier tablet with a smoother UI.. wait till Windows 8 come out, i might just overclock it to 1.6Ghz and replace it with my laptop when i go out already

also, vibration is also welcomed since it's mentioned, it's not for vibrating to wake u up or tell u u have a phone call(as if it can make phone calls, lol), more like applications can use the vibration as another method of feedback
*
just saw someone using Galaxy Tab 10.1 in my office

the borders around the screen, the a.k.a the bezel looks narrower compared to Asus TF.

makes it look smaller.

*
1) press the power button and hold it for 4-5 seconds

2) if that does not work, plug in the usb cable to the TF and plug the other end to the charger or a computer, it will switch on automatically.

3) are you sure the batter still has power or is it 0% ?

none of these methods working  sad.gif  battery still got 99% and dock around 80%.stupid me why suddenly want to shut it down  cry.gif  cry.gif already rooted and flashed prime 1.8.4.how to claim warranty then  doh.gif
*
i am sure its not faulty.

sometimes after you flash custom ROM it will have problem booting up.

leave it for 10-20 minutes and try again.

if that does not work, you can still boot it up to APX mode and reflash it back to stock ROM. > i can guide you how to do it.

if you switch off the lights in your room, you will notice that when you press and hold the power button the screen will light up, but since nothing is showing it will look as it its not powering on.

its not so easy to brick the Asus Transformer, unless the actual power button itself is 'damaged'

Guys, how many user here using 32GB microSD? any using Class10 type? Or Class4 is sufficient. My main target is 720p clip playback.
*
i dont think Android takes full advantage of MicroSD class 10.

I am using Kingmax Class 10 card that is blazing fast using card reader on PC but performs all the same on TF.

I think Class 4 should suffice, most well known brand Class 4 cards perform almost at Class 6 speeds (writing speed in excess of 5-6MB/s)

the underlying cause is Class 10 cards might be really fast when writing continously to the card, as in HD video recording and large file copying but random read/write performance of small data chunks is still same as Class 4 i think.
