You might leave em up on the shelf and not handle the blu-rays much, but there will be shelf wear eventually.

Yalo! so little only, on screenshot only 90 titles/set. Got 3 titles not there as two of the Ghibli Studio title still at Japan, another is Rango which not arrive yet.

For me, I think you don't need plastic covers as it may not look very nice (visually that is...) & quite a hassle if you want to watch something...
I'd recommend a glass-door cabinet - a custom-made one for you in this case!! At least you don't really need to upkeep (aka cleanin' & dustin') too often...

actually my cabinet is cover by a plastic, so no dusk and no need much cleaning, except the top few boxset.
