QUOTE(nazmanson @ Jul 21 2011, 01:21 AM) Friends please don't scold me for asking this question here but as we all share the same hobby I would like to hear your opinions I basically echo what johnBRlover said. the refresh rate is not a critical decision criteria for blu-ray playback. it would be better if you spend the $ on a larger screen if budget permits (honestly 40" is rather small for blu-ray watching esp when it's letter-boxed). you will quickly get upgradeatitis if u settle for a 40-incher. I'm thinking of getting a Sony LED KDL40EX520 is it any good, any comments BTW it does not have Motionflow as the other model KDL40EX720 3D got motionflow 200hz but I'm not very keen on 3D. Is motionflow vital to enjoy movies LED vs plasma is a different argument altogether, so i won't go there. hope that helps. |

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Aug 13 2011, 09:06 PM) The Worst Steelbook on earth! probably! Hi bro. "stickerbooks" have been around for >2 years, so it's not really something new. You're probably just new to this, that's all. Cheers. Photo taken from Internet forum: [edited] ** It is a printed Sticker paste on the steelbook! New name is given for such edition, it is call Stickerbook now! *** Now officially need to think twice & seen the actual UK Edition BD before proceed for ordering, or else you might end up getting a slip sleeve or stickerbook!!! rather than slipcover or steelbook. p/s : i myself have some "stickerbooks" from the early days. even the Lord of The Rings theatrical edition best-buy exclusive steelbook was a stickerbook. i have 3 of those (unwrapped spares) if you're interested. |

Glee Season 2 blu-ray quietly sneaked out without much fanfare this time around. Not buying though ... season 2 was really weak.
QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Sep 15 2011, 04:59 PM) I think your priority should be to upgrade to at least a 5.1 HT system first. You're not benefitting from all that lossless audio on the disc. That's why I take your reviews on the AQ with a pinch of salt, because it's devalued by what comes out from the inadequate tv speakers. It makes a lot of difference to your movie enjoyment ..... or at least start with a 2.1 or 3.1 and work your way up. that's what i did .... @ dirtrun - rumour has it that you're upgrading your bdp-80 to the 93 or 95? maybe u can let andrewtst have your 80 cheap cheap. lol. |

The Star Wars Complete Saga boxset packaging is not very thick actually .... just compared it with the LOTR Extended Edition boxset and it's about 2/3 the thickness only.

Watched Set Up over the weekend .... thought it was a safe buy with Bruce Willis in it .... but really disappointing movie.
QUOTE(anfieldude @ Sep 21 2011, 03:31 PM) I tested Thor's 7.1 yesterday. The bass effects were loud but I did not feel the depth that I expected to get with the mix. Checking around in AVS forums reveals that this mix is 20Hz high pass filtered! What an utter waste! This could have been a fantastic mix, but we end up with a muted soundtrack. hi bro. long time no see. so this would be like that other movie ... what was it ....
