standard pricing as below, price base on 10feet length.

1hp: RM180~220
1.5hp: RM200~240
2hp: RM230~270

advise to find those contractor who having shop and not those driving around with small lorry. Pay little bit more one shot only but wil get better quality and service. Try TJ Glomac Mr Jye 016 213 3767 he is very professional

Normally the contractor will visit the site first before they give an more accurate quote. Else, there could be arguments later.
I have been quoted RM 300 for conceal air con piping up to 1.5HP for length of 20'. This involves a lot of hacking work. This is for non inverter.

For inverter will be much higher because of the min thickness of the copper piping and additional control wire.

Those prices above are just for hacking & installing the conceal piping.

Doesn't include plastering & repainting.

Yes, is thicker.

My friend told me to diy, need to find where to buy the a/c piping just lay the cable + piping (input and output)+ the black polymer cover for both the pipe. Is cheaper, but need time.

Still waiting for quote.

Depend on the brand and the gas they use. It is not about the inverter.

If that brand use normal gas r22 but inverter, the piping is normal only. While if that brand use r410 gas but inverter, than the pipe is bigger.

If it is for inverter, then should reasonable. There are additional control wire from the compressor to the blower unit for inverter A/C

My living aircond to balcony compressor may need around 20 feet too.
For 1.5HP non inverter, they charge 400 for conceal copper pipe(8 feet conceal only), the balance copper pipe is not conceal to balcony.
I din buy aircond yet means no free 10 feet copper pipe, so they will charge me total 20 feet copper pipe.
400 consider reasonable?

Sometimes, the charges may be a bit different depending on the site condition. Landed property or condo?
In the balcony, can use the PVC trunking. This copper piping can be hidden inside the trunking.
The trunking painted the same colour as the wall. Looks nice...

Have you tried asking your aircon supplier to quote you for the piping? At least you have a comparison.

1k to relocate 2 aircon is damn expensive. Have you tried asking
those electrical shops that are sell aircon to quote you?
Maybe it include cleaning and pumping in gas for the aircon as well?

Anyway, for easy of mind, better to get another 1 or 2 quotes. smile.gif

i did one 2hp (non-inverter) cost rm450 include well conseal job done by my contractor.

total abt 15ft in my double terrace house, copper pipe start from living hall's wall till go up above plaster ceiling, then throught a drilled hole to above car porch ceiling and roof tile.

include replace 1 pc of car porch ceiling w/o paint + pvc sealing for the roof tile.

while the conseal water pipe go down along the living wall -> through a drilled hole of the front wall -> fencing wall -> drain.

i think it is worth because a lot things need to do.

Mine is condo.
The RM400 is quote by ID company(i believe they sub to aircond guy), this is included conceal <10 feet for internal wall, and external wall <20 feet with PVC WHITE trunking(this is condo management required all exposed cable and pipe). This ID company have done many renovation at my condo, so the rm400 is final amount without any hidden cost. But i din give them any renovation job, so i did not ask them to do copper pipe.

Then the rm400 is included cover and touch up the hacking part, maybe they give free touch up if we give them the renovation project.
Means if i find outside aircond guy, the price should be within this amt, cant too far rite?

So now i have ask 1 aircond guy come to my places, they also cant give me actual cost as well. His just ask me to trust him, he say he will quote me the actual copper pipe length. but i did tell him whether can done within 400, he say impossible ..bla bla...he use the good copper pipe la, pvc trunking expensive la... good material la....

I will visit the jintex tis week, the price for 1.5HP panasonic econavi around rm1400 and add up 150 for installation included the 10 feet copper pipe.
In this case i think rm400 should able to cover the hacking, extra 20 feet copper pipe and pvc trucking cost?

2HP 17ft - Inverter - RM518

My pricing is based on inverter a/c piping, concealing and plastering:
1. 1HP Split A/C - RM18.00
2. 1.5HP Split A/C - RM20.00
3. 2HP Split A/C - RM22.00

IF non inverter, I think is RM2 - 3 lesser than the inverter. He also gave a round up discounts on A/C installation (price below RM90 per unit, regardless of the HP).

The prices are not including the hacking and concealing jobs? Then it would mean those are installation charges for the air conditioner alone.

But since the topic is "Conseal A/C piping cost piping", I think it's would more appropriate if V only post the per ft. price on the hacking and concealing price rather than air conditioner installation charges.

Just installed my airconds today. Unfortunately, didn't think about concealing the condensation pipe, so it's just running down the side of the wall now. sad.gif Ah well.

It's for aesthetic purpose only. Not sure whether the trunking of Ur air conditioner can be wrapped in PCV and painted in the same colour as the wall, if it's possible, then at least it would look nicer.

Any conceal piping is charge by lump sum or per foot run. It won't deduct from standard installation.

I was thinking of getting a contractor to hack the wall prior to the installation of the air conditioner by another air conditioner contractor since the 1st contractor might not a expertise of air conditioner and the concealing works of the air conditioner contractor might not be good.

I would say the rates are cheap consider those are the rates for air conditioners running on R410A refrigerent. How the quality of the job done?
*
The workmanship is fine, noticed all the pipe was directed to the gutter. No complaints on the plastering job as well.

My contractor proposed a lump sum inclusive the air-cond installation. I did 7 rooms, and the cost is RM2.1++K, and then installed 4 a/c ( 1 unit of 2HP Non-Inverter, 1 unit of 1.5HP Inverter and 2 units of 1HP Inverter), he lumped it at RM2.5K for everything.

Nope. You should ask the aircon folk to hack and do all the aircon piping work, which they are the expert of it. Once they do all the piping, they will do simple cement work. You than ask can ask you main con to do proper cement and plaster work (pay extra).
Just take note and plan if you have plaster ceiling included what the gap from ceiling and plaster (5 - 9 inch).

This was the quote i got from my air-cond guy.

1. Living Room area - Type: 2hp / Standard : RM1,150.00
2. Dining Hall area - Type: 1.5hp / Standard : RM800.00
3. Kitchen area - Type: 1.0hp / Standard : RM550.00
4. Ground Floor guest room - Type: 1.0hp / Standard : RM450.00
5. Master Bedroom - Type: 1.5hp / Inverter : RM750
6. First Floor guest rooms - Type 1.0hp / Inverter : RM450 x 2 rooms = RM900.00

All the work is for concealed water and copper pipes with installation placement of the compressors at the rear rooftop of the house. I don't have the exact length but i know its very far especially from living room to back of the house.

For supply and installation of air-cond units, the price is as follows.

Panasonic 1.0hp / Standard : RM980.00
Panasonic 1.5hp / Standard : RM1,300.00
Panasonic 2.0hp / Standard : RM2,000.00

Panasonic 1.5hp / Inverter : RM1,650.00
Panasonic 1.0hp / Inverter : RM1,350.00

Most of my friends have used this guys to install their air-cond units over the years and he's been quite reliable. Not too sure how the quality of his plastering work is as no one has used him to plaster their walls completely before. He mentioned that the price for the supply and installation of the air-cond units changes depending on the current price he orders the units at that point in time.

Hope that helps.

Better not, in case of condensation and leaks. If that happens your wardrobe is as good as gone from water damage.

I used to go to SS2 Legend quite regularly in the past but i feel that their service and discounts nowadays is not as good as before they got so big.

For centralized water heater was quoted RM60 less than Legend's quote from another supplier for the same product.

Does Ur wardrobe have door(s)? If yes, meaning when U ON the air conditioner, the door(s) of Ur wardrobe has to be opened right? Otherwise it's only Ur clothings in the wardrobe are being cooled by the air conditioner laugh.gif

Added on November 18, 2011, 1:29 pmFYI, rate of pipings for R410A (DC compressor type) is typically more expensive than R22 (typical AC compressor type).

I was quoted RM15/ft and RM18/ft for 1HP R410A and 1.5HP R410A respectively for hacking of the wall and installation of pipings, concealing work is not included as most air conditioner contractors are not expertise in doing concrete concealing work.

Hack and seal the leak. That is the best. If not the moisture will build up slowly up to the floor. If this A/C are use frequent.

If I buy aircon from electrical shop and let their aircon contractor do the conceal piping, is it cheaper than finding my own aircon contractor?

All I know is if we let the electrical shop's contractor do, definitely got free 10 ft copper piping.

If you put your hand on the wall where the water pipe is, you can feel it cooler than others wall. That is how the wall get moisture. Specially if the conceal pipe is just at the wall surface. Not deep enough.

I got to use primer paint to paint first. Than apply the actual paint. If not, the paint will fade away.

Depends on your luck. Outside contractor and the ones nominated by the electrical shop should be around the same. They are both outsiders, no link with the electrical shop.

But I will prefer the guy doing the installation be the same one that I will call to service the air cond in the future.

My master bedroom drain pipe was wrapped with the black thingy (ah, forgot what it called), same things it use for the copper. You can do that on the drain pipe. I only notice it last week. For the other area did not notice, but I don't feel cold on the wall with piping when we test the a/c for few hours. Maybe because it was conceal deep.

It call insulation that prevent hot or cold from escape. My pvc drain pipe don't have this kind of wrap. I believe many didn't do that too. The aircon side short drain pipe should have this insulation.

hi guys,

any possibility the conceal copper piping leak?

My bedroom 1HP ac is not cold after 2-3 weeks pump in the coolant gas.
Ask the Pana service men come check, they keep say it could be the piping leak... Is that normally for new AC set their condenser/compressor piping wont leak?

How to detect the conceal piping leak?

The balance air cond piping not used will have ugly piping and wires dangling from the wall.  rclxub.gif
Any way or products that can cover these up ah??  sweat.gif

Best is leave it as it is. Bending the copper pipe few time will damage it. I had this problem where one pipe was near the floor (outdoor), it was move few time for painting and cleaning. End up I have to cut entire pipe hack bit and resolder a new pipe because it was bend too bad.

Make sure your outdoor A/C pipe is facing downward, or have a plastic bag cover it. The black thermal wrap can guide water into your room / living room (Copper pipe can too if its not seal). This happen to me when the a/c was not install. My floor in living room and bed room above the a/c pipe was wet. Scare the hell out of me, initially though it was roof leaking. Later found out the a/c pipe guide the rain water in. I cover it with plastic bag, problem solve... icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi all

When concealing, is it a good practice to keep the copper pipe and electrical cable apart from each other ?

1 thing I don't understand is, for old practice, I see they separate the return hot gas copper pipe from the insulate cold gas copper pipe. For logic, it is correct way.

But nowaday, the hot and the cold copper pipe is insulate together. The hot gas pipe is insulate for what? It should disipate the heat out not to insulate the heat. I try to ask them, but can't give me the answer.

I have heard from someone that it is best practice to separate the electrical wire from the copper pipe.

Thus it is better to have two separate tracks instead of one. Nevertheless all the contractors are putting all of them together of the same track.

Guys,
My new condo already have the A/C piping in place, done by my contractor. This include all the conceal & plastering work.
Now, the question is, if i buy the aircond, can i get cheaper installation charge? because normally, the installation cost will include some minimal piping e.g 10 feet.
Normally they said the 10 ft piping is free that come with the installation.

a contrator quoted me power point for aircon and its piping RM180, this price is excluding aircon installation, is it reasonable?
isnt it covered by aircon installer? if aircon installer charging me RM160 for aircon installation, then the total cost could be RM340.

More details please. Piping price of course affected by thickness and length. Your AC is Inverter or Non-Inverter? Your wire Cable Size? Your pipe length? Your drain pipe length? Your AC outdoor location? Indoor and Outdoor is back to back?

You ask the installer, not every installer know what can or cannot be done.

Most important pull 5wires instead of 3.

Is the following price reasonable? I felt the conceal works are too expensive cry.gif

Refrigerant: R22

1.0HP: 20ft x RM9 = RM180
1.5HP: 17ft x RM10 = RM170
2.5HP: 16ft x RM13 = RM208

Conceal work for each pipe: RM200

Installation: 1HP&1.5HP: RM90 x 2 = RM180
2.5HP (cassette) = RM250

Total: RM1588

Thanks! Price is in Penang, need to know urgently smile.gif

Should be more or less like this.

Beauty don't come cheap. If you can accept the exposed pipe in a new renovated house is ok. But of you already spend so much in renovation, this is just a small amount.

Side track abit, I want to ask. My house already come with those concealed air-cond piping by developer.

Now checking for defects, can we just pour water to these pipes to check for any leaking?

How do the contractor check for leaking especially after tampal the cement ?

Copper hose you can't pour water, putting water in looking for trouble. You need to do pressure check.

Yes.

PVC, I doubt you can do much testing, a/c drain are not high pressure water, usually won't cause much problem unless the pipe carck. Not sure how you want to test, maybe seal the pvc pipe output, and pour into the inlet, leave it few days if it leak it will have some mark, or water inside the pipe will reduce.

Alternatively, do the air purging by using vacuum pump when installing the aircond, air and moisture in the pipe will reduce the performance of compressor, overheating and eventually refrigerant leak.

Air purging is important for a proper aircon installation, but sadly not many installer will follow the proper procedure.

I almost forgot, don't wast the money to ask the service guy to re-fill the gas without prior vacuum the pipe-line, the moisture accumulated in the system must be removed.

When doing onceal piping, its btter to specify exactly where the piping will be to ensure the percise location of the internal air cond unit.
I did not do that and it it a hassle and a costly exercise to shift the air cond unit after initial instalattion.
My story is here

Secondly, must the compressor unit placed in lower elevation than the aircon indoor unit? If not required, then im planning to run the piping close to my grd floor ceiling then cover int up by plaster ceiling.. Seeking for you guys opinion.. Cheers

Ya true.
My main contractor also charge me RM600 for 1.0 HP inverter conceal copper pipe and outlet pipe.
But I planned to install only 2 of them because it needs some coordination with the living room extension.

Ya,
he quoted me 1.0 HP x 3 (RM600) and 2.0HP x 2 (RM650) all inverter.
both concealed copper pipe and outlet pipe.
and he assume worst case scenario like putting the aircon in the middle wall instead of back-to-back.

actually he just quoted me, but if back-to-back installation he said just ask the aircon shop to do it for free.

Because my living room hasn't extended now that i plan to put the aircon compressor at top of the car porch instead of in front of the main door (too hot later all the wind blow in all the hot air), and the ground floor living room is in the middle of the houseplan (probably more than 15 feet) with affected plaster ceiling and etc.
So better ask him to do it, it need lot of coordination and correct timing.
the rest master bedroom, bedroom 2 and 3 just need back to back.

I think 15 feet a bit too far for 1.0HP.
Probably go for 1.5HP for safety?

Master bedroom upstairs. The developer gave 15 amp wiring and PVC pipe but never give copper wiring. I extended the room so the everything kelam kabut. Now decided cheaper to just extend the developer 15 amp point to the window (conceal) and the air cond pasang like biasa. The developer pipe potong and just plaster.

I guess I look like a water fish to the contractor, below is the conversation between him and I:
C: how's your consideration of the offer?
I: I will engage other contractor to do the work for me.
C: why?
I: the price is quite high.
C: I propose that you installs back to back, I can re quote accordingly.
I: no need already.
C: May be we can negotiate the price.
I: no need already la. You cannot compete one.
C: how much is the offer?
I: 4 to 5k like that lor.
C: 4k impossible la, 5k plus may be can do la (WTF, want to cheat 3k at least on the first quote) shocking.gif
I: WA... Two to there k different wor.... hmm.gif hmm.gif
C: previously what I quote is Hitachi brand piping, the highest end for the air con piping, may be we can use the middle range piping.
I: no need already la, I decided to install after I get the key.
C: don't decide first, let's compare the price, you give me his quotation then may be I can quote you cheaper leh, but you must let me installs for you la... Some more if do it later the finishing not nice one. (cilaka, can't cheat me this time and think of cheat me next time)
I: ok la, let's see how la... (impossible to let him do the work, big buaya)
C: ok, thanks

On going development at sitiawan by dkls, then the contractor is the only authorized contractor that can do the air con work for us... so I need to deal with the contractor if I need to installs the drain pipe and copper pipe during construction is on going.... otherwise I need to wait till I get the key after completion then only can installs the piping lo... My idea is to minimize the hacking work LO...

Guys.. ask ur opinion..

2 contractors quoted me different price.
(inverter type + conceal 0.61mm copper + conceal pvc drain pipe + hacking)

items:
2hpX1
1.5hpX3

1. one quote me . 2.3k lump sum
2. another one quote me . 3k lump sum (certified air con installer)

1st guy refused to give me a quotation list. Said he have a lot of experience installing air-con. 14 years. Recommended by the shop that I bought air con from.

2nd guy is a certified air con installer. Normally did those high rise buildings. He only recommend best of the best material. Initially he quote me 4.2k for everything. He include insurance coverage in the bill as well. He will later breakdown the cost and air con installation diagram to me. He told me their way of doin stuff are totally diff than uncertified installer. They follow strict guideline from those association. If wrong, they may lose their license. Means ada standard.

Now, I need to choose. In dilemma now.

I was being quoted:
1) 2HP x 1 = 30 ft
2) 1HP x 3 = 80 ft

Total RM2.2k. Including copper piping, PVC water pipe, conceal and install without piping. Is the above reasonable?

Thank you

might be on the high side...
i was quoted below formula:
2HP: install conceal w 8ft Cu = RM380, Cu pipe RM13/ft
1HP: install conceal w 8ft Cu = RM280, Cu pipe RM10/ft
Water pipe some may add RM100+ since run a long distance (but already considered overprice)
Install Aircon ~50-100/unit?

I was quoted to installed for 2HP with inverter with conceal 1st 10ft is rm420 and thereafter is rm30/ft.  I am likely to have 20ft of pipe from my living hall to the roof above my parking, costly me a rm720 for concealing a living hall aircond, good price?  The aircond water piping is already included in this the price.

My panasonic aircon 1.5hp not cool after 5 months. Call the installer to check and quote me RM120 for gas refilling and inspect. Is this normal charges?

For Daikin, inverter, R410A gas.
My aircond contractor quoted me the following.

To lay copper pipe and water drain pipe, WITHOUT conceal into wall:

1hp @ RM 500 x 3 = RM 1500
2hp @ RM 570 x 3 = RM 1710

Installation only,
RM 200 x 6 = RM 1200

TOTAL: RM 4410

Is the price reasonable? It's a double-storey house.

what is recommended distance ie 1hp ~10ft .. if 1.5? 2.0?
can anyone share ..

U need to check ur A/C manual, it varies for different brand and hp.
Usually for 1hp and 1.5hp, maximum distance is 15m and maximum height difference 10m.
But Daikin is further.

My contractor told me no need to do piping first for back to back installation. He said the aircond people will do the piping together during installation and this can be done easily. Is it true?

Back to back yes.
Not need.
Unless you want it 100% fully concealed.
If install aircon back to back, the compressor might put at lower side but the aircon put at the top. so you would see the "black" piping probably 4-5 feets.

My contractor did this to me for pipe > 10 feet.
RM600 1.0 HP inverter pipe + water outlet pipe. Fully conceal both copper and outlet pipe.
Inverter copper pipe is thicker, so it is more expensive than conventional aircon.

Thanks for the reply. I would not do the conceal at the house design already have a drainage system right behind the house.
However, how the Air cond. guy connect the compressor to the aircon inside? They still need to drill a hole to connect
the air con with compressor right?

Of course, they need to drill the hole (4 holes to install the screw nut bolt) to install the compressor. Although, it's back to back.

Dear Forumers,

Just wanna ask, I just got my house keys and was thinking about installing air-cond in the living room. Also, I'm planning to do a plaster ceiling in the living room. What should I do first, make concealed aircond piping first, then install plaster ceiling? Or aircond/piping can be done later?

All hacking need to be done before plaster ceiling.

You need to plan well, don't conceal too low or too high. Experience AC installer will know the height when you tell him your estimate ceiling height (plaster ceiling)

The piping can be done first and Aircond installation can be done later once plaster ceiling is done, is my understanding correct?

Yes.

You need to know what A/C are you using, Non-Inverter? Inverter? And the brand of inverter because some inverter use thicker copper than other, some use 4 wires, some use 5 wires.

Distance between blower and the compressor unit must be as near as possible.
As far as possible, don't conceal too much, you may have problem later on.

Ok, i bought the daikin air con from fair under AC cool. After checking they are so call distributor for daikin. Price includes standard installation with 10ft.
I will request 1 x 2.0 non inverter and 1 x 1.5 inverter R410 for conceal paiping.
So how much will it charge since the package already includes paiping and instalation.
Understand that conceal charge by ft.

You no need to know this, unless you want to DIY.
Even if you want to DIY, you need to have the manual in place.
the number 4 or 5 is more on the controller wire.

Why need to go full conceal? You are looking for trouble later on, especially when you want to change brand.
Conceal a PVC pipe for wiring and air cond copper pipe are the best way, so you no need to worry.
If your renovation works not done, suggest to spend some extra money to redo this.
Basic type air cond only 3 wires, inverter are 4 or 5 wires. And air cond installation should be done by air con man, not your contractor do everything first.

If this is the case, you shall not conceal and reroute the air cond pipes.
It may not look good in some sense, but when problem comes, you will know the pain of hacking, it will be very messy.

Bro mean dont conceal? just put casing cover up.....?
I also worry for future gas leaking, but for now i do my best like use inverter pipe(more thick) and I ask the contractor test the pipe before plaster back. Test with putting gas inside and set a gas meter at the pipe. Test around 1 week+.

Nope, you need to install such that both the units are as near as possible. With this way you can hack the wall with a hole, put PVC pipe, conceal back that PVC pipe.
Then the pipe and wiring will be covered by both of the units.
Later I show you my house's photo on both of the installation method.

can I ask, I plan to install non-inverter air cond on my wall which already has a power point. I have gotten my contractor to conceal the water pipe and the copper pipe (with black rubber) to my outside wall.
I am yet to get them to install the unit itself. If in future i want to change brand or inverter type anything i can cater now?

On my first photo, that's my master bed room setup, you will see the white hose part, that's the water outlet while the black part is the connection point to the outdoor unit. Those are the parts which will be removed for servicing.
So you need to make sure this part can easily being access.
My PVC hole won't be covered by anything.

Outside, inside also the same.
Insect unlikely to enter since we already blocked it with paper.
As for rain water also unlikely since it is covered by roof, chances of getting rain water are quite low.

Outside, inside also the same.
Insect unlikely to enter since we already blocked it with paper.
As for rain water also unlikely since it is covered by roof, chances of getting rain water are quite low.

Nothing to do with landed or not landed, you just need to plan properly.

You can use plaster ceiling sides to cover the piping.

i see, thank you.

then i would have to take a painful route to remove the pipe and replace with inverter one.

Yup, but this time put a PVC pipe to it, seal it back and paint.
From next service onward, no more hacking works.

Nope, the covered part should be the non removal part. Usually the connection point is the main concern on any air cond installation.

Hi, I was quoted conceal paiping as below,

3 x 1.0 hp, 1 x 1.5 (R410) = 1k
1 x 2.0 hp = 300

The exact length not sure but is a lumpsum. Base on the site visit, the min conceal length is at least 6 ft per unit.

Aircon --> Daikin, installer Daikin authorized distributor

Install a 1.5HP air cond only need rm150-200, including piping/wiring for the first 10ft.
2HP will be rm200-250, again for the first 10ft.
Above are including brackets.

normally if exceeded 10ft, how much is the price perfeet include conceal? for 2.0 and 1.5, 1.0.
Actually my price quoted is for conceal and additional length. But never stated how long is the length.
Again, if within 10ft, how much normally will charge for 1.0 HP and 1.5 HP?
I read previous post, does the conceal price is purely for hacking work? Because the aircon I purchase is included standard 10ft installation. If conceal how much will be add in? Exp my 2.0, the shop quoted rm300. So is 300 for purely hacking only.

Anyone have approach contractor or aircon installer for the copper to be conseal into wall before aircon installation?
I have 3 bedroom + 1 Living room. I would like to know what is the price per feet for below:
1 HP aircond (non-inverter type) (Guestroom)
1.5 HP aircond with inverter type (master room)
2 HP for living room (Non-inverter type)

I find majority of lowyatian mention that non-inverter will use different copper right?

Please comment on my house conceal piping.

I'm so sad that the con broke my room/house beam. Is that serious, or just crack only?

This is in the master bedroom and second floor. My house is DS intermediate.

If unsure, ask wet work contractor and check. You may have to knock out the crack open area only can tell. Look to me is just the plastering layer. I could be wrong, only can tell after remove the crack area. If the other side no problem very likely just the plastering.

Hi , just done my conceal piping. But concern on the water leaking. They make hole on my concrete roof and lay the piping then cement it back. But not sure what cement they use but they said no worry no leaking.
For the piping out from root top, can we use the silocon to seal the gap then apply the water proof on it?

The crack layer is quite thick. If this beam is horizontal to your house, better check properly.

Hmmm think you should get some advice from a few contractors see what they say. So you can compare responses. Just want to be careful when you seal stuff up. A lot of times it's just masking the problem on the surface. I once had a leaky pipe concealed running from my attic that I didn't know about - it was a problem for A FEW YEARS no kidding. Until I got a guy to really do a thorough check only I managed to spot and fix it. Same thing - the earlier contractor just sealed the leaking area but didn't trace where the real problem was

Why can't just hack the vertical wall and go through by the vertical wall ? 1 hole instead of 2 hole.

You can just silicon seal the hole. But there is 1 problem. After some yrs, the insulation will start to crack due to expose to sun. (if that area is outside) And the leaking will start.

Possible to leak.

If silicone you referring as the silicone use for the glass, i doubt it will work. You need waterproofing from sika, or PYE.

The ground floor ceiling height is similar as my car porch roof. So they cant go through vertical wall.

The black insulation that cover the pipe is a foam. It is soft and cannot stand to UV expose for many yrs. It will brittle and start to crack. The rain water is staying on the ground and not flowing fast away. If the pipe from the vertical wall, than the rain not easily sip in.

You need to do additional thing to secure the water from leak in. Anyway the leak won't be that fast. Silicon + water proof paint can last longer. Very much depend on your skill.

Actually for piping this way, there is a proper way to open the hole .

If the black insulation is also in the concrete slab, good luck. That insulator over time will shrink and deform and will create opening for water to slip in.

I got quoted recently by my wetwork contractor:

Air-cond Installation price:
1.0HP - RM300.00
1.5HP - RM350.00
2.0HP - RM450.00
(If aircond not installed by him, water exit point RM120/job)

Copper Pipe (concealed) - per ft
1.0HP - RM18.00
1.5HP - RM22.00
2.0HP - RM25.00

Electrical Wiring (concealed) - 15A
RM220 per job

So for 1.5HP installation with "standard distance":
RM350 + RM 220 (22*10ft) + RM220(15A wiring) = RM790 shocking.gif

Is this reasonable? This is from my main con who is also doing kitchen extension for me, total lump sum work about RM 50-60k.

Should do all the piping first than do the plaster ceiling. Lastly install the aircond. Anyway why want to put the piping in plaster ceiling ? Is better to conceal inside the wall

If there is leaking and is inside the plaster ceiling than is not just repair of the leak your plaster ceiling will damage too. Talk easy maintenance is never to conceal. Either way of conceal will surely be difficult to repair

It depend how the installer run the piping and to where the outdoor unit place.

You still need to conceal it after the piping comeout from the plaster ceiling. And terminate at the aircon.

But piping inside the plaster ceiling don't need to be conceal. It is like no logic and cost you more to hide the piping inside the wall. While the piping can't be see inside the plaster ceiling.

But 1 thing must be take note is the piping must be insulated properly without any pipe expose. Cause the condensation water will drip down to the plaster ceiling and spoil it. Later you can see some watermark on it.
