If you're of the fairer sex and you're doing squats/deadlifts, you WILL be checked out.

Is it any surprise with the amount of people who come in here and think that doing squats/deadlifts will kill them?

There are a couple of guys who squat and deadlift in my gym, props to them for that. But then there're these 2 middle-aged guys who deadlift with an extreme hyperextension at the top of the movement. It hurts to watch them. ohmy.gif

This article, among other things, made me decide to ditch the gvt prog I'm currently on. Way too much volume and not enough weights. Gonna go back to my old four day split after resting this week. Down with the flu sad.gif

Edit: t nation is alright la haha, regs there are funny, and very knowledgable. Also way more harsh to the newbies who spew crap there, which makes for some really funny reads. They even organised a few workout and eat gatherings which included three competitve bbers!

Culture difference I suppose. Either way I don't give a second thought about the new guys asking to be spoonfed.

The thing about training in the morning, mentally you'll be alert the whole day, physically, you'll be dragging yourself through the day. I feel like a fat kid dragging around 200lbs, huffing and puffing

Correct. No point high volume when your potential strength is not achieved. Attempting to create calorie burn with high volume hypertrophy training is inherently flawed imho.
Remember our session? The Iranian guys? Supersetting the same muscle group, 15-20 reps and straight away doing another exercise for same rep scheme? Now look at ours, 3-6 reps, in half the time. Compare bodyfat levels. You do the math.

This doesn't apply me to me though. I'm still fat which scheme I do now. Just kidding. Never liked volume. Don't despise it, just don't think it suits me

You forget other factors. Diet and cardio. If you eat tons of fat and cals then weight loss is a problem.

Nah, I get that. Just implying I don't like volume training. I get over trained within a week. It's just my body doesn't like it. And I listen to it rather than try so and so training that has worked for so many people.

This is the ironic part. I've stopped cardio, maybe once a week. Cut workout days, added in more rest days. And the progress is even better. I dunno wtf gives.

What I understand from conversing with you the other day is that by messing with you macros on a long term basis, your body has kind of adapted to having a high activity level day and a low activity level day. Carbs remain your primary fuel but since when you don't train( majority days of the week) you go on deficit, your fat is being utilized even more as your fuel. Adaptation of the diet and the revving of the metabolism from the training that runs for hours, and as long as 2 maybe 3 days considering the kind of intensity your training goes by. Apart from that, I've got nothing. Lol
