hi, hello smile.gif

sorry if this would be off topic. i'm still studying in one of local university in diploma in accountancy. i don't think i want to go straight for degree after finishing my dip. i want to work, full time, if its a good job.

my question is, can someone take ACCA, part time-ly, while they're still working?
and can someone tell me how really does ACCA class is held? i know that it's not same as normal class in uni.

I've read a lot of post but i still can;t understand how the ACCA class is run.

sorry for my bad english=) i'll appreciate if anyone would reply it. wub.gif

First thing you need to do is to find out the number of exemptions you will obtain through your diploma.

May we know the reason why you don't want to proceed to degree full time after your diploma? I believe finding a job with a diploma might be a little bit difficult and the pay is very low.

ACCA part time classes are usually held in the evenings or during weekends. Evening classes usually start from 7pm-10pm, weekend classes usually starts around 10am-5pm, usually 6 hours per paper but might differ according to the lecturer and paper.

Many take ACCA part time while working.

hi i have inquiry.
can an ACCA student apply for MAYBANK SCHOLARSHIP ( local ) because it doesnt state that ACCA can apply. It only states for bachelor of accounting. Does it constitute ACCA as well?

Please advise.

Hi. That is the problem with scholarships. Not many scholarship givers are to keen about giving scholarships to people pursuing ACCA. either that or they don't acknowledge or they just don't know about ACCA. I remembered one time I asked for scholarship from a certain place and they told me ACCA is SIJIL ONLY, implying theres not much worth in it.

But still, sometimes you gotta tell them yourself of your intention of doing ACCA. I think theres not much problem to Maybank as long as you are applying something that relates to accounting. Whatever it is, just send in your application and if you were chosen for interview, just say that you want to do ACCA. Another scholarship giver where I went for iv with sampai siap offer me to do bachelor and then sambung ACCA, although there wasn't anything stated about scholarship for ACCA.

my point is, it doesn't hurt to try wink.gif

in addition to YH90's comment,

studying part time/evening class is very tiring, imagine that you are tired of your 8 hours work then still have to attend a 3 hours class.

we do see a lot of peoples stuck half way in between the ACCA papers. take ACCA only if you are confident that you are able to pass all of them or at least the Fundamental Level to obtain a degree. if you are not confident, better take accounting degree course from college/uni

if u ask me, all papers can self study... sometimes go to class also either focus real hard and end up forgetting everything in the next few months.. or worst, which is the actual norm, go to class, dying to go back, tahan mengantok, etc..no input XD

self-study in the last month before papers la! thumbup.gif

agree to the max. my friend self study also can pass but he has extreme focus and discipline. he play play also but when study, he took it seriously. the beauty of ACCA is you can choose to study your own way. no one can choose for you though. choose wisely.

self study is always possible but the downside is you may have difficulties in obtaining further understanding of the subject.

you may know how to answer the questions in exam but you don't know 'why it is like that'. sometimes going to class helps you to understand the subject better rather than just memorising it

I agree with you. Especially for papers such as F7 and P2, it will be more effective to learn in class than self study on your own. And most importantly, have to practise Past Year questions.
