dont forgot considering ea2 adapter suck the battery power too   wink.gif

Any attachment will definitely suck more power. LA-EA1, LA-EA2, EVF. How much battery sucking from the LA-EA2 is not really known yet, or do you have any sources? Would love to know how much damage 1 extra mirror can do.

LA-EA2 will be available internationally on the 15th of October.

Think Boeing is the best place to get the 5N kits now? Since now they offer the alpha starter kit as well smile.gif

Nlik, guess you'll be grabbing the SEL30F35 when it's available here? Since like to take macs so much. Have some real life samples right now at dpreview forums, the quality looks great.

Today I ask one Sony store about the SEL30M35 and it's almost here
Price is Rm999
Now the SEL1899 is priced at rm899, a hundred ringgit cheaper

The strange thing is in the US, the macro is priced USD$50 less than the Sel1855 at USD$250 which is around rm700+

I wonder where to buy from for the best price?
*
That's odd, hope that's not the final price around here.

hihi~~ how to take macro pics like this with the background super blur ya? I just bought a nex5n (first semi pro camera biggrin.gif) and I found that the most is I can get the background to be blurish, but still can make out what is in the background.

any advice from the sifus?

thanks~ notworthy.gif

The NEX-5 kits will not be able to bokeh like that (bokeh = blur). He shot that with a nikkon 35mm f2. To achieve better bokeh with the SEL1855, try zooming out to maximum (55), and get as close as you can to your subject (minimum focusing distance for SEL1855 is 9.8″ (0.25m)). Also, you can try to move your subject further away from the background (+10 feet). Background that is further away will bokeh more.

The reply to that message on DPreview gives a greater insight into what causes the flicker.

You know what really bothers me about this click issue? When people start confusing it with the shutter sound while taking still pictures. A little bit of googling and reading will actually dispel all this. But it seems that people just read the first line of any given paragraph and assumes the rest.

Lowyat forum users are the first ones I have seen that are worried about a "clicking" sound during still image capture.

Sigh.

Heading to KLPF on Sunday. Anyone else going?

He speaks the truth. Lenses without OSS work poorly in panorama mode in areas without enough light, such as night panos. If you have both SEL16 and SEl1855, try a pano with both. Shutter speed for the SEL16 will be 1/500, while the SEL1855 will be 1/50. A few posts back someone linked an URL with this issue (at Dpreview)m showing low light panos shot with the SEL16 to be choppy.

To sum it up:

24MP pros
------------
1) More options for cropping
2) Usable for larger prints

24MP cons
------------
1) Larger file sizes (Less shots per memory card)
2) Longer processing times (more CPU and memory intensive)

Sony just filed a patent for a collapsible lens design smile.gif

Looks like they have answered the cries and pleas for tiny lenses...

For me, I'd just get the Emount 30F35. AF with EA1 adapter will be too slow if you want to use it as a walkabout lens.

But if strictly for macro only, and size doesn't matter, I'd get the A mount 30F28. Macro wise you want to manual focus anyway for that tiny slice of depth.

A few of things to consider.

1) Size and weight (E mount definitely smaller and lighter, no adapter
2) AF speed (EA1 will be slow, EA2 will be mighty fast, but ties into size and weight)
3) Image quality (I can't judge on this, as I don't own either lenses)

If you want to use it as a substitute to the 1855 as a walkabout, do know that the IQ difference between the two at comparative focal length is apparently very little. Focusing speed for the 30F35 is a tiny little bit slower and noisier (tests@dpreview users), and it lacks OSS.

A testament that the kit 1855 is really very good.

for nex series, can i use polarise filters on the lens? is it compatible d size
*
Filters come in various sizes. All E-mount lenses are 49mm in thread size, except for the SEL18200 which is in 67. On Lowyat though, it's a bit harder to look for 49mm as many vendors do not carry the size. You can use a step-up filter ring instead, from 49mm to 52mm, with 52mm being the most common smallest size here.

With a bit of digging you'll find 49mms here. There's plenty on Ebay, but buyer beware as usual.

Do remember to get a Circular Polariser (CPL) and not a normal Polariser. PLs will interfere with the auto-focus. (Only if using LA-EA2 for PDAF. Just get a CPL and be future-proofed)

IMHO bro... CPL is not a must on NEX cuz it's contrast based auto focus. Not phase as in normal dslr. Which why it is slower focus but on the positive side.. no difference on linear or circular.

I'll ditch any use of polarizer... waste all the clarity on the wide angles. My 2cents
*
But the CPL will be a must if he ever buys a LA-EA2 adapter smile.gif That's what I meant by future proofing.

Mileage between people will wary on the usage of polarisers. Personally for me, I love the extra OOC saturation produced with my 50/1.8 SAM, especially for daytime outdoor shots.

Och... 3698 for dual kit. Damn, that's expensive. Can get NEX5N Dual kit + EVF.

Nikon says it's for a different market, and not a competitor to the NEX series. Well then... who the hell is this market, I'm really curious? The Nikon fanboys that will buy anything? I doubt even the fanboys will think about it.

I was eagerly waiting to see Nikon's mirrorless offering, but after finding out the size of the sensor, was pretty disappointed. Well! In the end, more mirrorless cams in the market, more competitive, better prices.

I was browsing through this thread, and I found that the image quality of this little camera is absolutely amazing. I am planning to get a camera, and this looks like a good choice.

But I see that the price for nex c3 is almost around a entry level DLSR, like a d3100. What is the advantages of this camera as compare to a entry DSLR, apart from the size and weight.
*
Adaptability with many types of legacy lenses due to the short registration distance from sensor to lens.

Exceptional high ISO performance.

New weapon get:

Minolta Tele-Rokkor 135mm F2.8. Got this on Sunday, real fun to play with smile.gif A little soft at 2.8, but sharpens up at F4. This thing is built like a tank, and so weighs like one. About as heavy as the SEL18200, maybe more. MFD is at about 5 feet, or 1.5m.

idoblu got it for RM899 I think? Official list price is RM999, Which is ridiculously since everywhere else it only costs USD250 (cheaper than kit lens 1855)
