QUOTE(andrekua @ Jun 26 2011, 09:50 PM) Not sure if home screen really matter much. iOS don't have home screen. Meego won't have one as well. Symbian has one and it was pretty much useless. No matter what the fault with iOS I admit that it has probably the easiest to use UI.Perhaps people really do like simplified UI.Judging from N9's UI reception they certainly do.I wonder how will the storage structure will be in N9.Is the 16GB or 64GB used for install OS,Application & to save any other users stuff? Or there will be separate storage memory for the OS & application/users stuff in 16/64GB memory like N900... |

QUOTE(kenpachi @ Jun 26 2011, 10:51 PM) I'm getting pink by year end..lol ..got free one meh..btw ..meego is under linux just like android..thats mean we can customize?? It's customizable but Nokia announced that the UI is closed sourced. So need to check which parts are off limit. For sure theming, modifying kernel, modifying core OS & other customizing is possible. |

QUOTE(hengguowei @ Jun 27 2011, 09:20 AM) Compared to 18mpx from DSLR, this is like so grainy when I zoom in. Nah...My programming skill isn't that skillful.>.< Added on June 27, 2011, 10:39 amSuperEvilAlien, did you apply for N950 dev kit? Did you try porting any apps over? Anyway I think Nokia will choose on how useful your application is before giving away the N950. Also I honestly hope that the N950 goes to the developers that are really willing to make decent application for MeeGo.More quality apps for MeeGo means more end users can use this device. Anyway if you want to develop application it's perfectly possible to use N9 also. There is developers mode, root access etc2 just like N950.Only issue is N9 lacks that "sexy" physical keyboard... QUOTE(nicholasbeh @ Jun 27 2011, 11:53 AM) Too bad it's not going to change Elop's mind.Added on June 27, 2011, 1:57 pm Nokia might add ability to add widget & other stuff like Maemo 5. QUOTE(nicholasbeh @ Jun 27 2011, 10:32 PM) True also...Been a long time since downloaded any apps from OVI Store.I got all mine from maemo repos...But it's always good to have access to the official app store. Myriad haven't release the ipk - deb repackaging tool. QUOTE(hengguowei @ Jun 27 2011, 10:46 PM) I thought the phrase Ovi will be phase out bit by bit. Everything will be named as Nokia... eg, Nokia Maps or Nokia Store? Right? It's not like that.It seems like N950 will never have access to OVI Store. You have to download stuff from other repos.I read somewhere. Furthermore with Alien Dalvik, we don't need to look back at Harmattan specific apps ady since there's a vast amount of Android apps out there but wonder how good is the compatibility and to what extent does it allow access to major hardware like camera, or other stuff. Of course if there's Harmattan specific apps, it would be better. I can't wait.... |

I know in case Nokia's WP7 because success the share will go up & shareholders will get mini windfall but that's doesn't look like happening anytime soon. |

Dug up more info on stock MeeGo vs MeeGo Harmattan
* rpm vs deb (not just the format, but also the associated packaging "culture") * bash/coreutils vs busybox * sysvinit (<=1.2)/systemd(1.3+) vs upstart * kernel 2.6.37 vs 2.6.32 * gcc 4.5 vs 4.4 * ofono vs csd * connman vs icd2 * aegis et al rpm vs deb shouldn't be a big issue since you can always use community obs to produce deb or rpm package provided you have the source codes. I kinda hoped Nokia used newer kernel. Damn...Again with the closed source csd telephony stack... |

QUOTE(nicholasbeh @ Jun 28 2011, 11:01 AM) ship as soon as possible.Evo 3D official announce yesterday n will ship on july...nokia ar nokia...aiks.. Personally I feel that the hardware & software is more or less ready. But Elop is farking with everyone by delaying the release. Also N9 might be DOA but according to those who are working in Harmattan Nokia division they are still trying to squeeze few more functions before release. Seems like N9 will die a glorious death after all. QUOTE(hengguowei @ Jun 28 2011, 11:02 AM) Yup.Because Maemo 5's telephony stack is also closed source. So it can't be ported to Android.QUOTE(BBXiong @ Jun 28 2011, 11:19 AM) why do u need nitdroid when alien dalvick will support android app lol... NITDroid is more like proof of concept that Nokia device can run Android without much issue.somemore actually i love meego's UI for now more then android's |

I don't expect 3G video calls in N9.Need to rely on Skype for video call.
iOS do have 3G Facetime with jailbreak right? |

QUOTE(BBXiong @ Jun 29 2011, 10:26 AM) yes, but what nic said, i understand in the way that it would be default, without really the need of jailbreaking, and also, ironically facetime is just fine with malaysia's 3G connection Which means facetime should work in almost all 3G network because Malaysia have substandard 3G only. |
