QUOTE(Andy214 @ Jul 20 2011, 11:35 PM) LoL, the only one that doesn't fit in, should at least show landscape orientation screen before taking photo. Apparently official MeeGo Harmattan UI component locked in portrait mode. But don't worry the landscape UI can be enabled easily. There's slight redraw bug but it should be resolved soon. |

QUOTE(freakenstein @ Jul 26 2011, 03:50 PM) Seems like Nokia has given some N9 for market testing?RM1.8K price... Is it low enough for me to buy a Nokia product for the last time? I'm still unsure. Thinking about jumping ship to Android but Android's multitasking is still rubbish compared to Maemo/MeeGo & webOS |

QUOTE(freakenstein @ Jul 26 2011, 05:53 PM) Not sure about the price tho. But it seems to be quite low to be true la. Anyway , do note that the n8 released here was priced at RM1699-1799 respectively. So maybe we might be lucky I don't know how much is the cost to produce N9 but even the SGS II with better hardware which one of the costliest phone to produce in market are being sold for RM2090.Also N9's OS,well let's just say isn't everyone choice.... If Nokia do intent to sell N9 in high volume then they better sell N9 in slight low price.Around RM1.6K-RM1.7K is still ok. |

QUOTE(eaglehelang @ Jul 27 2011, 01:50 AM) Well, should I guess. I can play all the TVB shows on my E6, all of them rmvb format. But I convert them 1st, or rather the software in the device will auto convert. N9 supposed to be more advanced than E6, right? Should be able to play in third party application. |

QUOTE(pikacu @ Aug 4 2011, 01:37 AM) You can request the picture from crevetor from his twitter account here - http://twitter.com/crevetorMaybe he'll share few more pictures. QUOTE(luckyhillkop @ Aug 4 2011, 09:38 AM) Guys I read somewhere that Meego Harmattan is not the 'real Meego' and we will never see the real Meego. Is that true? Simple answer : Yes. Complex answer : No There are are some basic differences in MeeGo & MeeGo Harmattan For example MeeGo is using RPM package & Harmattan is using DEB package.Harmattan's API is slightly different from MeeGo because Nokia has added few API's (probably due to swipe gesture) Google for MeeGo & MeeGo Harmattan differences.Previously I already wrote the basic differences between these 2. Although there are differences between these two stuff like programs are compatible with both the OS because Harmattan API do support MeeGo API.Plus both the OS are QT based so porting apps is relatively easy.Developers can use Community OBS to drop the codes & produce RPM & DEB packages. There are methods to bridge other differences between these OS. There are also a team trying to port complete MeeGo 1.2 to N9.Let's see where that goes IMHO if Nokia decides to continue using MeeGo for other handsets (chances are 0.000000001%) I believe the handset still can be success.Because MeeGo still have part of Maemo/Harmattan "power" & widely accepted Nokia's proprietary swipe UI. But we all know Nokia went with WP7.Good luck with that... There are some manufacturer like LG & ZTE expressing their interest to develop MeeGo based handset but I don't know whether it will materialize or not.If they do intent to manufacturer MeeGo device I think they need to somehow acquire the swipe UI from Nokia. Seems like MeeGo is synonym with swipe gesture nowdays. Added on August 4, 2011, 1:14 pmNokia N9 Preview Event in Malaysia Tonight C'mon Nokia, invite people from LYN also... Those who plan to buy N9 at least can save some money for the case.
There will be a silicon case with matching colour provided with the retail set. |

Some of them publicly said they dumped their phone to their relatives.
This doesn't send a good message to other users who are using that particular device. Get free phone at least keep it & use yourself. Talking about dumping device some of the longest N900 users have started looking for replacing their device.Highly likely they are going for green robot team. There's more customers lost by Nokia... |

QUOTE(zero_kbom @ Aug 4 2011, 08:28 PM) Oh, if only I can like this over 9000 times! Andy always talk technical stuff here Seriously, TBH, our quietness really put me in shame. Heck, even some didn't even give any attention to Glen n co. who is giving their best in front. Yes I know, most of the stuff presented already known by us. But really, where is the respect? Truly dissapointing. And yes, don't get me started on those who too busy playing with their phone during the brainstorming session Lucky I'm sitting beside one of the most awesome Ranger, Andy As both Symbian & Maemo user he should have a lot opinion QUOTE(HexPhoenix @ Aug 4 2011, 08:28 PM) One thing i'm interested in: Metro Ui's boxy things is a big turn of for me.It's the most unfriendly UI for new users in all mobile OS.You'll need time to get used to the UI.In what way Nokia will merge Swipe UI with Metro UI. Metro UI - Good, but lack of functions due to WP7 that not mature yet. Swipe UI - Dunno, never test it, even I can't predict what market response will be after it's being launched. but deep in my heart i felt it will be a major competition to Android and iOS, as long it has a set of core apps ready with great user experience during its launch. p/s: i'm quite shy during the event, but later i personally contacted Fleishman & Hillard regarding my opinions and such. Nicholas is always bold in all event btw. So far the reception for the UI been excellent.I think the UI itself has received better reception that the OS itself. For a new OS MeeGo has almost complete functionality compared to iOS,Android & WP7.Pretty much all the basic functions like MMS,social media integration, copy paste etc2 are in MeeGo 1.2 For me the issue is 3 thing : 1)Software support 2)Developer support 3)Hardware (People might want higher end stuff inside their phone) If Nokia can solve this 3 issue perhaps N9 can be their iPhone. Added on August 4, 2011, 9:05 pm QUOTE(HexPhoenix @ Aug 4 2011, 08:58 PM) i don't prefer email, i voice out personally to fleishman boss (the lady) since glen and other nokia development team was busy with other rangers. well, they did jot down my points, hence, they even have people to specifically jot down our opinions that night (that big malay lady). Agreed.I think Nokia team has done that in N9.So far the UX is good.OS is stable (judging from 950 users comment). Most of the pre-installed apps are working great & more functionality are being integrated. What i want to voice out is reached, so i guess that's enough for the moment. Nokia: -should emphasize 10 core app, with great user experience, functional, bug-free, lag-free, pre-installed rather than putting 100k craps apps on Ovi Store. -should learned what Sony Ericsson done. Xperia X8 was a big hit, Rm400-500++, all functions built in. No lags whatsoever. And SE will not stop at X8. Rather than pushing to fight SGS2, iphone 4, 4s and 5 in the future, they CAN grab middle price range market, even sometimes, in certain market it can topple down those overhyped, overpriced smartphones. N9 is just a merely a starting line. For a new and long race for Nokia's survivability. This post has been edited by super_evil_alien: Aug 4 2011, 09:05 PM |

QUOTE(andrekua @ Aug 4 2011, 09:44 PM) Only those who are unique enough to experience Maemo will have the slightest idea on what to expect. I don't really see what makes MeeGo so interesting. I don't even know know what Maemo is like in the past. Comment for what? If Nokia wants to hear another Maemo/MeeGo user comment perhaps I need to write a long email expressing what I expect from their OSIf you have idea, why not voice it out? Seem like only Andy bring along his balls on the very Friday. |

TBH, the swipe gesture features only gives short terms of hype. It won't last long enough. Swipe gesture isn't just a hype. It's kinda helpful gesture to help you to navigate the OS. QUOTE(adraxx @ Aug 7 2011, 06:10 AM) But it did become mainstream for servers.Linux acceptance gaining track with addition of MeeGo.So far there's Android, webOS,MeeGo & another OS being developed by Motorola which based on linux.
