Go to official Nokia store after N9 launched.Bring your laptop along.Take a picture with N9.Transfer the picture to your laptop & judge the picture quality from that.

QUOTE(FlameReaper @ Sep 15 2011, 12:20 PM) Plus the OS that comes with the N900 has a very powerful expansion potential; that's what I like about it and I hope Meego/N9/any later Nokia+Meego models can do the same. Difference only in package management lol, Maemo uses Debian's .DEB packaging format while Meego uses Redhat's .RPM AFAIK. There's community OBS.With community OBS programmer should be able to create .deb & .rpm with same codes. At least in theory. So different packaging shouldn't be a huge issue. |

QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Sep 15 2011, 11:03 PM) Like the above forumer said meego is another OS u cant compare with android because for you to experience meego phone at the moment as consumer its only the upcoming Nokia N9. For you to experience android there are choice of samsung, HTC, motorola, SE and even china brand have. Well,I already have enough playing time with N9 & N950.Played with both phone for 20 minutes +.Like iOS no matter how you compare you need to buy an apple device to experience it. Like the Nokia representative said The Nokia N9 is not suitable for everyone but for people that know what they want. Those that experience Nokia N900 before knows what the nokia N9 will be capable of I'm very very impressed with both of the devices.Especially N950. Extremely smooth OS with super simple UI & AMAZING multitasking.Throw whatever app you want at N9 & you'll hardly notice any lag. Is it as smooth as iOS & Android? In one word : YES! Developers come help N9! I got the shock of lifetime when Eda (Nokia rep) smashed her N9 3 times on floor to demo N9's build quality. And bigger shock is there's no scratch on any part of the phone This post has been edited by super_evil_alien: Sep 16 2011, 02:19 AM |

QUOTE(zero_kbom @ Sep 16 2011, 02:35 AM) N950~ Damn, mentioning it is just like rubbing salt onto an open wound. Its that painful. It was super fun with Nokia N950.It was pure joy talking with fellow nerds about linux & other stuff. Its really a missed opportunity for me not being able to attend the meeting (Too busy IRL), but still, the build quality you just mentioned makes me thinking back about getting a Mytouch 4g Slide. Its N9 or not, hmmmmmm....... I just cant get back to wobbles or even plasticky build. Not after I enjoyed the awesomeness of my N8 and E6 build quality. Decisions, decisions... N9 is extremely solid. It's not hollow plastic. It's solid plastic with nice feeling to touch. Like I said I played with N9 & N950 for more than 20 minutes, even managed to finish NFS Shift 1 lap.And it felt good.No heat of weird feeling whatsoever. This made me guilty of sneaking in evil Google product to this meeting |

QUOTE(goldfries @ Sep 16 2011, 02:51 AM) Added on September 16, 2011, 2:52 am were you at the launch ah? anyway - so now at least 2 person say play NFS:Shift on it was a good experience! I went to MeeGo Malaysia Meeting today. I was given chance to test N9 & N950.So took time test things. Played NFS Shift & Galaxy on Fire 2.Both run great. But the real scene stealer was N950. Even the Nokia rep asked why most of us more interested with N950 even though N9 is the end user product. |

Even the developers who has N950 were very understanding.
They just gave away their N950 for us to test. I just took couple of pictures then started messing with the phones. While others mostly preferred to take pictures only... Come on guys, you had access to the most elusive phone on planet but instead of testing it to your heart content you just took pictures of it? P/S: I accept any kind of donation for my fund to buy N9.I promise to help future N9 owners with any kind of problems This post has been edited by super_evil_alien: Sep 16 2011, 03:18 AM |

QUOTE(HexPhoenix @ Sep 16 2011, 08:21 AM) N9 build wins hands down. But that doesn't mean SGS II build quality is bad QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Sep 16 2011, 08:29 AM) still not too late to resell the SGS II u getting for a Nokia N9 lol. A few people i talked to a few android users they keep focusing on the negative of a Nokia N9 keep saying dead OS but then conclusion is its not technology its what you do with it. Nope. The SGS II will be with be with me for a long time.I need a proper phone with me now.I'll try to work on something to get my own N9. QUOTE(Andy214 @ Sep 16 2011, 09:34 AM) Anyway, was busy taking photo, didn't notice you're testing the phone, if not maybe can record the video of your hands on. Eda actually gave the N9 1st to me Not sure as I don't have SGS2, but it's solid and very nice feel and to hold. Eda from Nokia, threw the phone on the table a couple of times. Read top post for more detail. I tested the phone when Eda was talking to everyone. QUOTE(eaglehelang @ Sep 16 2011, 09:53 AM) Any idea about battery life? I know nobody has it long enough to test, maybe use N900 as comparision? Is the OS battery draining or as energy efficient as Symbian This I cannot answer.Need a regular user to make feedback from daily usage. But I think the battery should be better than N900. |

QUOTE(wes c @ Sep 16 2011, 10:44 PM) Me TOO! I was thinking on playing with it when it's less crowded, but at that time, Eda and N9 left already.... I guess it's partly due me who kept both N9 & N950 for almost good 20 minutes that some people didn't get enough chance to play with them Thanks for all of you who attended the meetup. Can't wait to see the photo you've taken last night, thanks alot for become our photographer Actually I was hoping to see people bringing working N900 with MeeGo CE 1.2 yesterday.Too bad I didn't any of them. I've been testing MeeGo handset since v1.1.And I have to say the latest CE build was perfectly usable.I've even made couple of calls with mine.If you want stable version try the beta versions. The daily build is laggy sometimes. QUOTE(nicholasbeh @ Sep 16 2011, 11:09 PM) I was sitting in Andy's table.QUOTE(nicholasbeh @ Sep 17 2011, 01:13 AM) There's slight lag but barely noticeable if you use class10 microSDQUOTE(Andy214 @ Sep 17 2011, 01:19 AM) Haha, I think that's ok, maybe next time can ask someone to record the video when you/anyone do hands-on testing, just like those posted in YouTube; In a way, it give others sort of a "virtual" hands-on The thing is the UI is extremely simple to use.The simple gesture is really helpful in navigation the OS.It's almost as simple as iOS's UI.Ah... should've demo it through TV-Out yesterday. It'll be interesting, especially if you have dual boot on (or maybe even triple boot You just have to get used to the swipe gesture & you are good to go.The homescreens don't need much explanation about their funcions too. Even Philippe said he like the gesture a lot. I don't think the TV-Out function in MeeGo working yet but there are other method to capture video & present it to big screen This post has been edited by super_evil_alien: Sep 17 2011, 01:36 AM |

YeahN9 is good but N950 is really something else. It's keyboard is definitely the best I've ever used. I may never be able to own N950 but at least I managed to play with it's terminal. |

QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Sep 17 2011, 09:49 AM) Cant wait to test the social integration hope its like the Nokia N900. Lets hope N9 can OC too haha One of the very first thing asked during the N9 announcement in Singapore was whether it's possible to use custom kernel in MeeGo Harmattan. The Nokia reap said yes.So it's possible to OC do "extra" stuff just like N900.imagine 1ghz OC to 1.5ghz yum yum |

Black for sure.
I asked about where the battery is in N9 during the meeting. They say it's right under the screen. We all know the battery heats up when the phone used with 3G/WiFi connection for a long time & also while performing high cpu consuming tasks. I wonder how this heat will affect the screen |

QUOTE(KennyKB @ Sep 17 2011, 03:31 PM) Andy showed me his N8 with leaked Symbian Belle. There was noticeable lag all over OS but Andy said that is the best Symbian so far.N9 meanwhile has the silky smooth OS.Dump 30+ applications & it'll still run like champ. N8's applications especially the games aren't that interesting compared to iOS & Android games probably due to the old hardwares. If the same games ported to MeeGo it should run better.I've played NFS Shift in both N8 & N9.All I can say is N9's shift kicked N8's shift @$$. |
