guys, i need some help. i just ordered the HP bundle with the HP Pavillion dv6 6108tx and some other stuffs that was on offer, was it worth it? Let's say i play games like Heroes Of Newerth, Medal Of Honor, COD, Starcraft 2, is it a risk to use the laptop for such games? and also if u guys know anything about the screen, keyboard, graphics, don't hesitate to mention all of it. Thanks in advance!

Another thing: My battery has a wear level of 0.45% according to BatteryCare. Is that normal? It's less than 1 week old.

i cant change the screen brightness on ubunut 10.10, i installed the ati driver which ubuntu recommended.

is it ok to run my dv6 with full brightness?

installing old dirt 2 at my lappy, when full screen got black bar on the right side of the monitor

at 1366 x 768 :S

Ofcourse the laptop is capable of running those games that you mentioned. I don't own this laptop so i can't give a review though.

Guys i saw something funny just now... I ordered my dv6-6114tx and I havent received it yet and today is 5th of July. Just now i go to the HP online store and checked my order status and it reads "shipped" and the "actual shipment date" is 5th July... Now around 40 mins more it's 6th July... Think im gonna facepalm regarding HP's shipping service....

Oh yeah, wanna ask one thing... If i want to update the HD6770m catalyst driver. I checked previous posts regarding updating the driver from page 1. Acid, you mentioned that we need to install the HP stock drivers for the HD3000 and HD6770m drivers from HP first before applying the new 11.x driver right? The stock driver from HP is download from where?

2) Targus 15.6 Crave Laptop Sleeve -google for pics & you can get it from Harvey Norman under RM120.

Should be able to play all those game. Just get a nice cooling pad and you're good to go.

Controlling brightness in Linux is quite a problem to me too, tested few kernels and methods but still unable to fix it... in the end i installed xbrightness to control the "brightness".

That's weird.. try use the little application lee's posted few pages back. You can find it in the 1st page also.

Yes.. you need to install the stock AMD driver from HP if not it won't be able to do the switching.

DV6 model 6114TX and 6108TX comes with auto switchable graphic. Right now it refused to switch when u're using OpenGL based application and games like Minecraft, Photoshop CS5, 3DsMax, Maya & etc.

Other than that it's good.

Hmm okay i see that it doesn't have many problems, how about the ability to go on without a cooling pad? I saw that there were also people who complained that the laptop was overheating, I WILL get a cooling pad but if it overheats quickly then I have no choice :/

It still usable an if you tick Enable OpenGL Drawing it will use HD3000.
