i bought a 40 inch door for rm 680. Expensive i know, but no choice. Paint, carpenter said use nippon timber shellac is the best for long term.

if you want modern, can opt for plywood door as you can put formica designs and metal strips to look good.

Hi, can u tell me where u bought your door? The price is Grade A door?

Renovation Updates :-

Water - the quest for clean residential household water

After washing clean my water tank, I asked the plumber to optimize my  existing water piping system.
There were 2 things that I wanted done.

1. To maximise the water flow with the right pipe in and out from my Groundfos pump.
- The existing pipes was not optimized so, re-do the pipes.

2. To add in a main water by pass as illustrated by zheilwane below so that when there is electricity cut, water pressure will still be sufficient to flow up my solar water heater, and thus assure that I will still get hot water when there is no electricity. This also ensures that water pressure is sufficient to power my shower when electricity's out.

Hi Bro, looks like you have installed the Grundfos Pump with a pressure tank. Let me tell you my horror story about this pump.
I have installed the same pump about 5 years ago at my house based on the advice from my solarmate water heater supplier to increase the pressure of the shower and etc.

It was so good until I started to face pipe burst (after 2 years) inside the wall. So, called the original plumber to check and he said that it is due to poor quality of pipe installed by developer. Within a weeks time, the same pipe burst again but at different place!! I was not happy with my old plumber, so I called another plumber and he told me the same thing (quality of the pipe not good). Since then, it became a routine to replace burst pipes every now and then in my whole house. I have used almost 6 different plumber but all of them blamed the original pipe installed by the developer was very low in quality (thin its seems).
I realised that I could hear funny sound from the celling everytime I on and off the water tap. So I suspected it could be the pump that I installed. So I called Grundfos @ Glenmarie and to my suprise, they told me that any Grundfos pump with a tank need to be service every 6 months once!!!!
The Grundfos technician who visited my house told me that due to inconsistent of pressure at pump could lead to burst pipe. He advice to service the pump every 6 months once to avoid such problem!!!!

So do remember to service your pump every six months once.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reminder to service my pump.
My supplier advised to service the pump pressure tank every 9-12 months. nod.gif

From your description, it seems that your woes are more from your pipes than from your pump. hmm.gif

As far as I understand, all pump with pressure tank are "gentle" on the house piping system compared to pump without pressure tank.
This pump model that I use is "gentler" compared to most pump with pressure tank, as it has an additional adjustable pressure setting with built-in dry-running protection for automatic start/stop.

I use PVC7 for my water pipes as I understand from this forum that this pipe model is strong. flex.gif
My contractor and another plumber confirmed this.

Your pipe burst has nothing to do with the pump. If you do not service the tank, your pump would not start immediately when u turn on ur tap and the pressure is inconsistent but it will not cause a sudden increase to burst your pipes. Your pump's pressure will not increase like 150% or 200% stronger than the usual and burst ur pipes.

Pipe burst is usually from the joints and not directly burst out from the pipes.

What you need to service on the pump?

Look like high cost to own a pump which require service every 6mth.

You mean the original pipe from developer or the new pipe that I installed?
The developer's pipe was ABS (the blue color) but now I changed to PPR (I use KE-Kelit brand from Austria) with 50 years warranty.

From your description, it seems that your woes are more from your pipes than from your pump.  hmm.gif Yes, the problems was at the pipes but the main cause of it is the pump.

Yes, agreed with you, but the problem here is not due to high pressure but due to inconsistents in  the pressure. According to the technician, the reason to do the servicing/ maintenance of the tank is because of the lost of air inside the pump's storage tank and also to replace damaged seal and etc. Nothing got to do with dry run.
I use PVC7 for my water pipes as I understand from this forum that this pipe model is strong.  flex.gif
My contractor and another plumber confirmed this. I hopes so. Good luck anyway.

This was the typical anwser I got from all my previous plumber who attended the burst pipe problem. Unfortunately none of them are correct. As I said earlier, The burst pipe was not due to sudden high pressure from the pump/tank. It was due to inconsistent in the pressure within the range. I can see the water pressure from the tap goes high and low every second.

Yes, the burst pipes usualy happen at the joint, but mine happen at middle of the pipe. Its like a crack on the pipe. The only reason I suspect it can happen is due to vibration caused by the high and low presure from the pump.

my old man house, i install Grundfos Water Pump CH-PC 40 if i remember correctly, pressure @40psi all the time & added a PT tank to counter the frequent pump start/stop, cold water piping using paling class E, hot water piping = copper.

Problem free for 7 years already, except recharge the air inside the PT tank icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif
so no worry nod.gif nod.gif

Something like this but not with the "string" for the ceiling attachment.
Do not want the structure to "swing", want it to be "fixed" flex.gif

U can get this from any bath / toilet shops or they do sell at Houz Depot too.

However, u will need to get those slight higher quality ones. Cheap ones are really flimsy smile.gif

Last time i got mine at this Shop...I think it's called GBH in SS15 Subang...behind Hassan's Restaurant about RM130+ i think...
its 6ft Long
