Normally the wall tiles are much thinner than the the 2' tiles used for the conc table. Another is that the wall tiles may not be exactly parallel with the edge of the conc table. So, having slightly more tolerance will avoid having to hack later. Anyway, the tiler would be able to adjust when he does the table.

Frankly, I personally don't find any use of the sliding door if you already have a timber/ security door. Better to change them to windows, IMHO smile.gif

Yup that is exactly wat i m planning to do...i have started talking to contractors.and i realised it is really not easy man...

Now my contractor telling me there are leakages from the roof...he suggested that i also consider repairing / replacing the tiles on the roof, wonder how much would it cost...

Bro Phoenix, are u doing anything to your roof? if yes, mind letting me know estimated cost?

Roof tiles is an issue all by itself. Is yours leaking now?
When I got this house, there was a leak.
My wetwork contractor repaired it as he was there doing the renovation and when it rains, he could zeroed in on the location.

Initially he replaced some roof tiles that were damaged. Later when there was a very "heavy" rain, he found another cause which was the roof corner tiles which needed a much more work intensive repairs with sealant.

Luckily he cincai and did not charge me extra for that.  tongue.gif

Not yet, just the other when he was over to do some survey he saw some water marks on my wall near ceiling and a few other rooms..so he said..theere is a leak definitely..so maybe need to something..

he hasnt gone up to really see yet..as I havent awarded him the job smile.gif

so at least now i have a gauge of RM3-5k for roof

Bro..sorry very noob question. Your UTP cable (Cat5e), the contractors will know what to do is it? as in they will know how to pull it and conceal?

Concealing into concrete?

Cos mine is gonna be Unifi cable..i wonder if they know what to do..

I wonder what streaming can you get with 10Gbps? I can't hardly find anything capable of 1 Gbps.

Bottleneck is not always the cables Be it Cat5e, or Cat6. If the speed have reach 1Gbps, the bottleneck is on equipment throughput like H.disk read write, switching capability on your switch(es), router and noise.  That is where the equipments like Cisco, 3Com, HP come in place.

Getting Cat6 is like having a high speed tires, but the engine, car design, road and traffic is many other factors.

Agree bro..and most of the bottle neck comes from ISPs ... , that what ever it is, be it Copper (eg Streamyx) or Fibre-to-the Home (e.g Unifi, Maxis HOME)

These are all "Shared Bandwidth"....hence if usage is High within you area, especially if there are a lot of P2Ps going on...habis la..your performance will be affected...at the mo, Unifi's subscription rate is still low..hence the performance is good.

You sure about this? I don't think you can find any high transmission and throughput device that can take about 5 gigabyte of data per mins, and that is running on 1gbps which cat5e are capable of. To utilized cat6 is on 10gbps. You won't get any affordable 10gbps equipment for residential use. And most nas for residential is only 1gbps speed. Better invest on high throughput switc you see much better result. Network and IT is my bread and butter. Anything faster most industry use fiber between equipment and SAN some do use iscsi via LAN but that all on commercial use. Nas is just for low throughput usage.

Talk about fast, in Tokyo office we have 100mbps line. I can download a 4 gig DVD in just less than 8 mins, but the equipment hang for another  few mins because the h.disk write speed just can't take it.
*
Bro..no need tokyo wei..at my office...I m getting about 80-100Mbps average...did try a 2Gb file...i think done in 3-4 mins if I remembered correctly...legitimate demo file tongue.gif

Renovation Updates :- Some loose ends ....

A Dummy / Noob Household Ethernet Networking

During renovation earlier I wanted some wires that transfer internet data that I see used in my office to be incorporated in my house.
At the time I do not really know what I was doing as I am not a technically versed guy.
I was just thinking that wire should transfer faster than wireless and wireless may not reach some areas (eg 1st floor) in the house.
So I asked my electrical wireman contractor to do it for me but he dunno and do not want to do it.
So I went out and bought a box of CAT 5e cable and gotten my wetwork contractor to conceal the cable for me.
The cable were left jutting out of the wall as the wetwork guy dunno how to "fix" the wire end.

This is a case of the blind (me-dunno) leading the blind (Contractor-dunno).  rclxub.gif

Finally gotten some-one to "fix" the cable end.  sweat.gif

These picture location is the wall behind where the UNIFI's  BTU and Modem are located.

Loose Dangling CAT 5eCable jutting out from the wall.
user posted image

The Cable are all attached to Keystone Jack and the Keystone jack to the Faceplate.
user posted image

The Faceplate is finally attached/cupped to the wall (Inside the wall there is a faceplate wall base -the same thing used by wall power points)
user posted image

Note: the other end are located in 4 diffrent part of the house where i think  I might use it in the future
2 are located behind the living room TV (HyppTV Box, possible small PC, possible Gaming Console)
1 are located on the 1st floor living room (possible extra wifi modem for 1st floor)
1 are located in the Master Bedroom

Finally all the avalaible ports from the current WiFi Modem are connected to the "Ah Beng's Ethernet Network"  blush.gif
user posted image

Could have done this soooo much better if i knew what I was doing initially.  doh.gif

Errrr.... What is a server ah??? What does it do???? Can use server here ah??? What else can I do to utilise this network thing I have set up here???  rclxub.gif
*
Excellent bro...but why so many ports? ehehe...1 should do it then plug into a switch / router, to be distributed...but i guess..still looking good smile.gif

btw, thanks for the Deka Fan Short review
