My vmad.gif @#$%^&*() mad.gif contractor collect money then left 5% not done, he disappear, doh.gif
So now, I have to finish to balance work myself lor.... cry.gif

A rotary drill I understand has stronger hammering action compared to impact drill.
Cost triple and suitable for punching a hole through the wall.

I understand weikee has a rotary drill. How often is the rotary hammer functioned used?? blink.gif

Lucky for you as he finish till the last 5%.
Very normal for them to runaway after collecting your 1st 10% or some 30% down payment.
They would get some cement and sand as delivery then collect down payment. Do some hacking here and there. Next day, never turn up to work... Not even 10% of work done but collected 30% downpayment.

Happen to my friend house in SS2 last year. 50% work done. Even have the guts to ask more money if he come back to work.

My contractor start work without down payment, he only request money after 5% done. Progress was good until recently, I can said 60% done so far, left only the tile work. He like disappear, din pick up my call but still will call me once a while told me that he will going to work. In fact never show up. How to deal with this kind of issue?

FYI, I have paid him up to 60% as well. I wanted to get new contractor because I wanted to move in before July. He still holding my key sad.gif

I would say I am on the lucky side. My contractor start job, hack all my walls, put in material than only ask me for payment what was done. Only collect payment what he did. Except for paint works. and some area he charger me higher. To me is ok, don't have too be so calculative else he find it hard to make a living.

Most of the contractor also do job and collect later some I even have to remind them to collect

Jmm, maybe a good date we start renovation:-)

If your contractor is just a freelance, there's nothing you can do. (Trust them at your own risk)

You can complain to the consumer department and get the refund from the tribunal court if your contractor have a proper receipt, address & company is legally registered.

Renovation Updates

Clothes Hanger :- after thinking and rethinking on what and how to install the clothes hanger in my laundry area hmm.gif ,
finally decided to go with zheilwane suggestion.  icon_rolleyes.gif
Initially was worried that it will swing, but after looking at the product in Homedec 2012,
I realized that it can be " locked" to the ceiling when it is fully raised, thus no swinging.  nod.gif
(Also I realized that to install a clothes hanger in the laundry room area myself is darn difficult  tongue.gif )

The installation process

Screwing in the fittings to the roof truss

Screwing in the winch to the wall and aligning the cables
user posted imageuser posted image

Adjusting and fitting the rods.
Too Long, need to saw off 6" to fit my area.
user posted imageuser posted image

Testing and aligning

The Result

Now no need to dry clothes in the driveway.  laugh.gif
