@Hornet

That's a very interesting observation you've obtained there..

Perhaps we can "cheat" the system by using speed limiting software on our side to just go under the the arbitrary limit they impose before they cut off the connection?

I will test your hypothesis further then repost...

EDIT:- OMG Hornet you may be onto something here.. i just artificially limited my own DDLs to about 410kBps (max line cap is at 438kBps).. and the download is now stable.. and not fluctuating erratically...

Some food for thought there...

EDIT 2 :- I've ascertained that the max limit for me before Streamyx starts to cut connections for DDLs (aka hammering the line) is at 420kBps... the moment it goes above that line the connection drops...

This is unfair. Everytime my download reach almost full speed, they drop my connection

a$$holes

Another test to confirm it

At slow speed, nothing happens

But once I hammer my bandwidth, this happens

and again

i think that was caused by TCP congestion algorithm...

Guys.. to beat the TCP congestion algorithm you just need to artifically limit your downloads to slightly lower than you total line speed as i've outlined in my post above..

E.g. if your max speed is normally 438 kBps for a 4 Mbps Streamyx line, just drop your speed in your download manager to about 410 kBps as the upper limit...

Problem solved, at least as far as i've noticed... Slightly lower top speeds are better than insanely spiking speeds and dropped connections

Reporting from Sibu, international connection speed slows down drastically.

I tested with IP 175.X.X.X, speed around 10KB/s
Now having IP 118.X.X.X, speed around 40KB/s

(Using P1 speedtest)

Thanks man for sharing what you've found.

I'll try that out and see what happens. The connection drop is really annoying.

BTW, seems like the line is lag right now even though I'm not downloading anything. There's lots ping timeout to yahoo.com

WTF , my swtor and wow both went from 200 ms to 5000 ms !!!

Freaking tmnet , probably fishes and sharks biting off their freaking undersea cables again ,
They should be more creative with their excuses , or perhaps they are just put on all the butter and fish cream on their cable so the fishes can bite them off .

Ahh it's so comforting to know that they are always exactly on schedule when it comes to frustrating people and bringing down the internet. Come 6am *BLAM NO INTERNETZ FOR YOU*. The connection is very unstable/freq disconnections. I wonder what the excuse is this time if they even bother announcing it.
