hi guys. i rooted my SG sometime back, the Z4 root thingy... i think

now i wanted to upgrade to 2.3 gingerbread as i am still on froyo.
what is the best way to do?

1. can i still use the samsung kies to upgrade?
2. or other method since my SG is rooted?

im able to download from market using data but not my wifi whys that? =( data is expensive

can you browse the internet using wifi?

finally i got it thank goodness =.= i dunno what fixed it. btw disabling use packet data makes sure no data is used right?

I) XXJVP

XXJVP (2.3.4) is the latest and probably the best of all. For beginners, this is the best firmware to try.
Procedure
1. Flash to EZBase 3.0 first EZBase 3.0
questions: so i need to flash to this ROM even though my SGS is rooted and running 2.2. regardless of wht kernel version or build number?

2. Download XXJVP http://www.multiupload.com/H8ZGD0NSE2
questions: still downloading

3. Download Odin and .pit files http://www.multiupload.com/51MTA5K1H7
questions: this download is done, but i don't see any .pit file? only got the odin V1.82

3. Flash it by odin. Use 512 pit file.

- ezbase is recommended for a clean start, though not necessary. i'll edit the first page. You can just flash xxjvp straightaway regardless of what your current settings are.
- i'm on linux now and I can't test the download. you can also get the pit files from samfirmware.com

i'm glad i'm in Malaysia, not in US. US mobile world sucks. some carriers are still struggling to provide Froyo update while most of us already enjoying GB 2.3.4.

I think you have brick you phone. If i am mistaken, updating kernel is updating the bootloader and if it fails then you brick you phone as there is no way for the phone to boot anymore.
