Will do one when I get another U2, the fans on my old one are not that efficient anymore, so the results would be biased |

Never buy cooling pad because as I know the position of proc of each lappy wasnt the same.. tats why the design of fans cant be accurate.. Wat I did is to put 2 wood by the sides of lappy <<< make the centre part have more place to release heat den to stick with the table surface..

cooling pads are just tools to help in cooling down your laptop. it doesnt directly cool your laptop. it works the same as airconds..
temperature drops are pretty much user defined. say i have a laptop with a huge heatsink, definitely the temp drop will be significant. what if user A uses a 14" and user B uses a 17"? of course user B records more tempeature drop. |

Then does that mean getting a 9 cell batter for the xps 15 has a better cooling coz it has tilted the lappy up?
Then can it still be place on a cooler pad if more cooling is needed? This post has been edited by linkz: Jun 9 2011, 10:22 AM |

QUOTE(linkz @ Jun 9 2011, 10:21 AM) Then does that mean getting a 9 cell batter for the xps 15 has a better cooling coz it has tilted the lappy up? Yea, the extra protusion means that there's no need to tilt your laptop up anymore when you're on battery...Then can it still be place on a cooler pad if more cooling is needed? As for cooling, you'd probably need a cooler pad when you're running intensive stuffs anyway, in which you'd probably be connecting the A/C (and the battery removed), so its still better to use a cooler |

QUOTE(fJok3R @ Jun 9 2011, 11:18 AM) can put the xps 9 cell on cooler pad? Yeah, it'll be difficult... if the user is using U2 or U3, it'll definitely slide haha i supposed should be quite difficult because it's tilted unless u remove the batt? But its not a big problem actually since most users won't be running insanely resource consuming stuffs on battery; and they won't be attaching the battery when running resource intensive stuffs |

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Jun 9 2011, 11:11 AM) Yea, the extra protusion means that there's no need to tilt your laptop up anymore when you're on battery... aiyak... like this mah very trouble-some to switch between 9cell batt and cooling pad? As for cooling, you'd probably need a cooler pad when you're running intensive stuffs anyway, in which you'd probably be connecting the A/C (and the battery removed), so its still better to use a cooler btw, is it a standard pratice to remove the 9cell batt when connected to A/C? |

Some laptop has the function to switch off Battery Charging with just the press of 1 icon. If not better remove the battery when it's charged around 70% full.

Haha, most users don't bring along their cooler pads one what btw, is it a standard pratice to remove the 9cell batt when connected to A/C? And so far most of the mobile hotspots I've been to have air-con, hence eliminating the need of a cooler Its good to remove the battery as heat from the laptop will kill it |

1. Model: TinyTech 3 Fans
2. Idle from 44C to 38C. Gaming (OC) from 87C to 79C 3. 2 small fans; left for CPU, right for GPU (same size with U2 fan), 1 big fan in middle for air vent at bottom. 4. Laptop size: 13" This cooler fan match the position of air vent on my 3820tg. Cool better than U2 (2 Fan) but it's louder. |

QUOTE(ngkhanmein @ Jun 13 2011, 03:46 PM) cowithgun u play in air cond room lah.. if not u won't get this temp.. did u OC ur gpu with this screenshot u show for the temp?? yup, benchmark was done in mild air-con room, which is always the condition. the heavy load SS are without OC, as you can see, the GPU max temp is only 73C. With OC, the max GPU goes to 87C (as reported earlier). recently, i downloaded a custom fan profile, lower my GPU and CPU a few more degrees. i suggest buy 2nd hand fan like this http://www.google.com.my/imgres?imgurl=htt...iw=1440&bih=779 my mum use to bought 2nd hand stand fan, all stuff cos poor that time.. my house a lot fan & w/o air cond.. u can get 20-30 or 50-100 for better 1 tip for selecting cooler, make sure the cooler fan is as close to your notebook fan as much as possible. position is important. for that price, better get this cheapo TinyTech lar... doubt that fan can cool any better... |

Anyways I remember I have seen some adapter was meant to build for connecting the USB plugs to the AC power supply directly itself. Where can I get such adapter? Easy enough to get it done. |

I no recommend you overclock your internal fan because it will make it die out faster as the lifetime is counted on how many hours based on how many rpm. Internal fans are very expensive and difficult to find by the time it dies. A table fan the blowing outwards 45deg on the vent should help with bringing the hot air out faster. There should also have an suction holes you can also blow the fan there it will be like supercharging the fan. Or you can just remove the bottom cover & use U3 if you don't plan on getting it mobile. Using CM U1 (2 fans) and U2 (4 fans)
Biggie lappie on U2 with back cover removed dropped from 70' to 57~58' Lil lappie on U1 not much difference, even with back cover removed Plan to get additional fans to DIY, not CM type of course |

If you would like to spend few hundred dollars on a Zalman cooler (if you can find one) do go ahead and tell us the effects compared to a rm80 U3 cooler as i'm curious what kind of technology it emplies.

QUOTE(bonez_xy @ Jun 16 2011, 03:06 PM) let the cover open mean need to remove the dust more frequently rite? Yeap, the more the dust accumulate, the poorer the cooling... and who knows them dust might even affect the inner components as well but i want mu lappy cool also.. already trying using diy cooler but not so much different with the temp because hdd cover did not have any hole to let the fan blow the air straight to the hdd... There's actually not much to do, just do all the things required (change better thermal paste, cooler pad, regular maintenance etc.), or buy an aircon haha |

5 years ago im so determined that im going to go desktop forever and am never convinced that laptop would do the job as well a desktop will. But now after 5 years, i think that the constant cleaning of my desktop is making my cleaning routine very tiring and troublesome (needed to unplug every cable not within the CPU, then clean every part, then reconnect). So now when im going to change my current desktop (bought last time back in 2007 with Intel Core 2 Duo), im definitely going for a desktop replacement notebook for pure simplicity.

I feel you bro, it sure is very troublesome to have to clean all the dusts... especially at the back of the casing I like laptops (even desktop replacements) in a sense that there's only 1 wire hehe, won't tangle up that easily hehe.... but that if you go for laptop which are more portable, you'll need to sacrifice abit of performance and quite a large sum of money Personally I also prefer having a laptop, they seem to blend better in a nicely designed room |

When you've been using laptop all the time, you will finally appreciate the power desktop can bring without having to spend a big fortune on laptops like Alienware.
I've decided not to buy another laptop in future unless i need it for mobile purpose. Then I don't have to worry about laptop coolers. QUOTE(rurushu @ Jun 16 2011, 10:17 PM) 5 years ago im so determined that im going to go desktop forever and am never convinced that laptop would do the job as well a desktop will. |

What so special about those fan why so expensive??Is it because the fan is more silent than the other that's why it is expensive??Or it has the ability to dissipate more heat??

I believe there are 3 aspects in laptop cooler design:
1.Air flow design of the cooler & location of fan. 2.Material used on the cooler frames to conduct as much heat as possible from the laptop. 3.Fan design, how fast can it turn, how much airflow it can blow, how much noise it make, the type of technology it employ especially the bearings which determine the noise level & design life. Most expensive coolers are expensive simply because of it's styling instead of practicality. This post has been edited by advocado: Jun 20 2011, 10:20 AM |

Because you cheap skate can't afford the full HWmonitor program which unlocks many features. Also some readings cannot be read from certain laptops.
Why not give OpenHardwareMonitor a try? It's free, comes with a small gadget window that can be configured to show whatever info you want. |

brother in law y u always said i misled ppl.. i'm here to share my experience lah.. dun always salute me like 'them'.. cow dunno where feel very sien..
some inspiron user got vibrate issue like hdd that knock the speaker there.. so add foam can solve the problem.. u need DIY the stand that connected to ur laptop down surface to attach it at the box fan to prevent it vibrate.. as long the speed fan doesn't spin with high rpm everything is fine.. the fan is for more ventilation purpose & let the heat to scattered away... |

fjok3r u ask who? no heat issue with 15R r u sure? those case i mentioned so many times not consider heat issue but what shall we named it? since my in-ge-li-sh*t very lame.. to me suck & blow this 2 concept u need it.. y?
as usual every laptop got it on fan.. so mostly is suck the hot air out right? i not sure other laptop that blow 1.. then u need a cooler that suck the hot air more stronger than it.. & now the hot air is accumulated at where? if still at there.. the cooler system is not good.. so u need another function to blow it.. zalman nc2k is blow under the laptop.. so the hot air will flow out from the holes + aluminum dissipated heat faster than plastic or abs material & etc.. it make not be perfect or gain any huge improvement.. but rmb sedikit-dikit lama menjadi bukit.. got other cooling system out there.. so u google lah.. seems u said can't find the heat problem on my lappy.. thanks! Added on June 24, 2011, 11:35 am QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Jun 24 2011, 10:58 AM) +1 but like my case.. left side is where the hot air flow out located.. 2nd there is a vent under my lappy.. the small fan if no mistake it blowing cos it wanna blow the hot air to the left side.. correct me if i'm wrong..This post has been edited by Fstria: Jun 24 2011, 11:35 AM |

QUOTE(jusjus88 @ Jun 25 2011, 12:00 PM) well i call them up..ask me go Lowyat (again). Called them up, no one picked up. After 1 minute, a girl picked up, then said direct me to the technical dept (lol claim warranty need technical dept? - or i'm that dumb to not hear there's sound coming out from the cooling pad?) Then waited for 30 secs, no one answered - the girl picked up again. She asked for my number and name, said will call back when their ppl back from lunch hour. ..and that was last week Monday Till now. My number is not returned. QUOTE(Fstria @ Jun 25 2011, 12:06 PM) u get her num? ask for date lah.. then only point out the issue.. LYP shop always un-responsibility at all! Cooling Pad is a Myth. I don't think it can cool down your laptop at all. Stack up your laptop and get a mini desk fan and create cooler air under your laptop.
