Thank you kookaaq and twincharger07,

yes, its my only chance to go to Japan as their expenses is so high!!

I'd consider taking the ground tour... i have researched the budget accomodation like B&B and Guesthouses, the price is killing me!

Thank you so much for your info and advices.. maybe consider just kyoto and tokyo... :|

yup.. with limited time, Osaka will just like "touch and go" ...
just go for 2 places, Kyoto and Tokyo are good choice...

Tips for moving around kyoto, bus is a better choice than JR and subway.. get a 500yen 1 day pass for unlimited bus ride (winthin kyoto city).. this is the best value for $$ transportation in Japan... http://www.kyotoguide.com/ver2/useful/useful-trans.htm

Where as in tokyo, JR and subway are more convinient...

Are you sure you can do online? In any case, I'd think you still need to go twice to embassy, no? Once to give documents and once to pick up passport. It's fast and efficient one, both times you go, it's like 15 minutes wait only.

Above 1k is still consider cheap.
Apply online? That's NOT possible. You need to submit all your docs along with your passport.

15mins now maybe. Previously I had to wait 2~3 hours I guess it depends on luck and timing.

Some will do but are you willing to entrust your travel agent to hold you passport.
You can also apply it at the JP consular office located in Johor & Penang.

From google:

Spring months are March, April, and May. Summer months are June, July, and August. Autumn months are September, October, and November. Winter months are December, January, and February.
