Hey, nasizwan. Why aren't you in GU anymore?! rolleyes.gif

Well, I don't party like a rockstar and I'm part geek and part traveler. So most likely I'll be going about with my camera on tow and visit places of interest. My Japanese is just basic so communicating with the locals will be limited sweat.gif

Don't really have a list of things to buy (yet) but it won't be a lot I am sure.

Where will you be staying in Japan? Maybe we can meet up over the weekend or something. smile.gif
*
Ada la dkt GU but haven't log in lately lol. Traveling across country would cost a lot especially on bullet train but if its just around the city then its fine. My Japanese suck hard but I'll be living there soon so just imagine. I'm gonna register to language school for the first few months when I get there.

"It won't be alot" Trust me you'll think differently when you see their merchandise cause that's what happened to me LOL

Im going to stay at Shinjuku-ku. What about you? Sure we'll plan something up! smile.gif

Err. Don't think I'll be doing cross-country trips (would be nice though biggrin.gif ) Should be just around Tokyo.
I'm attending basic Japanese class now. Should help a bit during my stay there. Or you can just bring your wife along everywhere you go tongue.gif
Oh ya. Intro some kawaii friends if we do meet whistling.gif

I know the dangers of impulse buying (especially at Akihabara). So I'll be cautious on the spending. I hope/must!

Not sure which area I'll be at yet. Still awaiting details from bosses.
*
If you're electronic freaks then Akihabara is the place. Im a shoe freak i bought 4 pairs costing nearly rm2k lol. My wife is my walking dictionary but I need to learn how to survive myself tho cant take her along with me all the time. If you have some extra off day try visit places other than Tokyo, maybe Kyoto, Osaka or Yokohama. Kawaii friends are mostly my wife's friends so need to ask her.

Like RegentCid said, Jan~Feb is the coldest period so be prepared to bring thick winter clothes. My advice bring one is sufficient and buy the rest in Japan because you'll find more options, stylish, plus cheaper compared to outdated winter clothes in Malaysia. I don't mind going out in winter I love cold weather! I'm planning to go to Niigata prefecture in January for snow boarding thumbup.gif

That cold is no simple cold...that cold are strike into your bone.  That month Tokyo City should be around 3 - 6 C.  At Night can go as low as -3 C.  Seriously at night Tokyo street are very less people walking around.
*
Korea the neighbour country is worst. It can go up to -11 Celsius. Don't mention Russia or Ukraine -20 Celsius or more but people still go out rolleyes.gif

*
Sending back to Malaysia from Japan bro. I need to find efficient way to send back money instead of expensive TT. icon_question.gif

Hahaha I feel you bro. I had to take EL once because baby kept crying the whole bloody night until 6 a.m and at that point of time you regret for having a baby. Eye bag is our new makeup look sweat.gif

okok thanks, will go there for breakfast/brunch too I think. google tells me to go Sushi Dai for the omakase but ... 1-2 hour queue hmmmmmmmmmm.
OKOK, thanks. We're planning this itinerary as a guide, so if it turns out when we're there that it is too packed we might just cut out a few stops and spend more time at the others.
*
I had my brunch at Tsukiji on my previous visit and yes we had to queue for almost an hour! lol but you'll be getting super fresh seafood meal which I guess worth it for a try. Price wise, not too cheap mine was almost 2000 yen equivalent to almost RM80 at current exchange rate. sweat.gif

About your Japan itinerary, it really depends on you. If you don't mind rushing everywhere then you might go for it. I, myself like to take things slow, enjoy the view, take lots of photos etc and like heterosapiens said, you gonna need to walk A LOT! So why don't you try do some walking marathon preparation lol

owh!! U`re coming here!! YAY!! For good means U`re gonna study or work here izzit? Later can lepak makan sushi hehe rclxm9.gif
*
That's great.. I'll be working there (still looking) lol and will be staying at shinjuku-ku. So where do you work/study?

QUOTE(Assassin @ Sep 26 2011, 12:34 AM)
Usually whats the price of cheap AA ticket to Osaka? All the price I check is still above RM1K sad.gif

Do I need to go Japanese Embassy in KL to apply for visa? I understand that I can do it online but do I need to go embassy to finalise it.
*
Above 1k is still consider cheap.
Apply online? That's NOT possible. You need to submit all your docs along with your passport.

QUOTE(rexona @ Sep 26 2011, 04:19 AM)
Are you sure you can do online? In any case, I'd think you still need to go twice to embassy, no? Once to give documents and once to pick up passport. It's fast and efficient one, both times you go, it's like 15 minutes wait only.
*
15mins now maybe. Previously I had to wait 2~3 hours I guess it depends on luck and timing.

How to go Japan embassy if I don't even stay in KL?
Can any travel agent do all this?
*
Some will do but are you willing to entrust your travel agent to hold you passport.
You can also apply it at the JP consular office located in Johor & Penang.

Wah that long? Must be last time before tsunami much more ppl applying visa so you have to wait longer? I applied 1.5 months ago, seriously was 15 minute in and out both for submission of docs and collection. My BF applying in singapore JP embassy also same thing, 15 mins.
*
Yeah that was a year ago. Last 2 months I went it was 10~15mins like you said.

Holy crap market rate YEN to MYR is currently 4.183. I bet currency exchange store sells at 4.2x shakehead.gif This will be a pain in the butt sweat.gif

google would have given you all the info you need in less than 30 seconds: http://www.my.emb-japan.go.jp/English/visit.html

Off the top of my head, Japan Airlines, MAS and AirAsia all fly direct to Tokyo.

I wonder why all these people keep asking the same questions when they can actually google themselves. If those answers are unavailable then everyone here would gladly help bruce.gif

Can someone tell me from experience

Must the photo submitted for Japan Visa has white background? (that is what they specified in the embassy website)

Coz i thought we usually use light blue background for passport pics..
*
Yes WHITE only. Try submit with blue background if you want them to return it to you. Go to photo studio and request white background

Anyone had international driving license and drove in JP previously? I need someone to shed some light on this matter. What are the procedures to obtain it?
