just curious how this blue DRL color match with the fog lamp?

the osram boot lite looks cool too..

Gaaah I knew it'd look awesome ;___;  is that red a custom color or will it be available one day? *_____*

Anyway guys need your opinions. Thinking of getting this car on a 9 yr loan. Is that advisable esp with the battery in mind? Other than the batter, how well do Honda cars generally hold up after 7 yrs? I want to keep my monthlies as close to 1k as I can, hence 9 yr loan. Also hoping to make this car a long time investment.

Also, is it a concern that the back tyres use drum brakes instead of disc? Reminds me of cheaper Vios and myvi OTL
*
Im pretty confident any T & H can last more than 10 years given it was properly maintained. The battery, surf insightcentral for info on its reliability. Bear in mind that 1st gen Insight using more conventional battery/cell setup.

Cool looking drl! I have to agree it fitted nicely at the best possible location. Mind to share the contact of the shop?

As for the foaming, I intend to do as well. Still under consideration. Which package did u took and how much? Any significance diff in terms of NVH?

I dunno bout u guys but I had a 'major problem' with the wing mirror. It's sticking out so long that motorcycle keep hitting on it or cars that stick so close when cutting lane knock in it. Wtf!! Got hit at the wing mirror 3 times this week!!

I don't know how long my wing mirror will last...
*
Better fold your side mirror when you stuck @ traffic jams. Or, are the type that didnt align properly with your front car, causing other vehicle to knock your mirrors? tongue.gif tongue.gif

*
They didnt replace any part right? The 12V battery still the old one is it?

Hmmm.... puzzles me. Anything u left 'on' when u shutdown your car the other day? I believe we can accidentally leave the map light 'on', but it shouldnt drain the battery just like that.

The best if u can ask the technician in-charge, what really happens. At least we all can be prepared in case our turn next... shakehead.gif

Welcome to hybrid world. rclxms.gif

QUOTE(dazzleec @ Jul 9 2011, 08:35 PM)
i am vry sure i didnt leave anyth on when i last drove.i always make sure evryth is off.tat day when i jump started the car, didnt change any parts.went for service tis morning.they checked both the batteries n found the 12V battery weak.so they change a new 12V battery for me.other than tat evryth is fine.i got them to check allignment for me too.only took 1 hr to complete the service.they told me to make sure the IMA battery is charged even if i dun drive coz i complained abt the IMA battery gauge being totally empty.after i managed to jump start the car tat day,i check the IMA battery lvl n found it empty.well,it looks like the 12V battery was faulty.bad luck lor.
i ask them abt 24hr service if car breakdown.they told me to call the insurance rather then the Honda branch line coz insurance tow wil be free but the branch will charge.
*
So your 12V was faulty and your 100V was drained off. Your car not starting is now making sense.

On Insight, the 12V battery is being charged by 100V using DC-DC, 100V-12V converter. Once the 100V detected 12V was low, current from 100V will flow and trying to charged the 12V. Since the 12V was faulty, it cant kept the charge and also depletes 100V battery, hence your car cant crank.

QUOTE(idoblu @ Jul 9 2011, 08:45 PM)
how to charge the IMA battery?

my SA says to rev the engine at 2.5rpm to 3k rpm every three months at idle to charge it but i think this is a bs procedure. I dun think revving the engine will charge the IMA battery at all
*
No need to charge when stationary. You can also shift to 'L', slow crawl leaving your house and the IMA battery will be charged @ 2000rpm and above. In less than a minute it will be fully charged (from mid level).

QUOTE(alxdc @ Jul 9 2011, 08:58 PM)
guys whats ur mileage when u collect ur car? mine is 61. is it acceptable?
*
Quite high IMHO. Mine last time merely 12km.

QUOTE(hong1380 @ Jul 10 2011, 06:54 PM)
Hi...I tested drive City and Insight

Personally I like Insight cuz it looks more sporty and modern but the future servicing would be concern sad.gif

Drive Insight is much smooth and City  can feel the gear change and little bit "chok"?
*
City is using torque convetered convensional auto. Insight use CVT.

QUOTE(comingsoon87 @ Jul 11 2011, 12:19 AM)
Heard that, insight IMA battery have to change every 5 years. Is this true??
*
Not true. The warranty is 5 years. How long can last, depend on our luck maybe. Some 1st gen Insight in US still using original battery from year 2000.

anyway, so ... do u always ON econ mode? when do we dont use Econ mode, and why...? i dun see the reason of being OFF if there's no harm (even Longterm wise)

and the "truuuuuuckkkk..." sound when release the brek... i think  i heard a few comments like this in this thread also...
*
Creep aid mode doing its job. Will disappear once the car properly seasoned.

Correct as dennisong explained. The brake pressure was kept slightly longer in the system.

I wanna complaint, the front bumper look sag at the seam/joint to the front fender. Also not noticeable at a glance, look carefully.... hmm.gif

My third filled up today. Odometer at 1050km. My FC is only 18km/L
How I calculate is jot down how much I pump in each time and also note down the km done.
I use iPhone app to keep track and calculate so can't be wrong. This is most accurate way to calculate.

If according to the onboard trip meter, it says I average about 20km/L

My usage is mostly highway. Hardly any city driving. Light foot driving

I hope it gets better. I expect at least 20km/L.

How the heck can ppl get 25km/L?  Just no way!
*
20km/l is good enough if you're living in KL.

Me even living in small town without traffic jams can achieve around 21km/l.

25km/l can only be done on 100% highway @ 60-80km/h. That was considered travelling straight from Johor to Perlis (775km) for 10 hours.

Quite odd your service mileage. Wasnt it suppose to be done on every X 5K basis?

Honda Insight uses semi oil since day one.  Skip a service interval and they have right to void your warranty - confirmed by honda malaysia.
*
I dont think they can easily void your warranty. And i agree that the lifespan of semi syn oil is more than 5K km, especially in our car which is equipped with gadget that further reduce engine operating time (idle stop, battery coasting etc.).

Also the claim will depend whether its service related or not. Eg if we are claiming seat got nyek-nyek sound, suddenly they say warranty void coz we extend our service, they are simply stupid doh.gif

In US for example, u can conduct your own service but keep the engine oil/filter/parts receipt. As long as the car is under warranty, u can claim. Now that is professional.

Ya lor. Only +/- 0.5 liter per 100km. Still they claim Prius "full hybrid" while Insight "mild hybrid". brows.gif

The only good thing on Prius is full electric, silent mode launching (not that silent, still can hear tyre noise).

The handling sucks wallowy.

Hi, got a question for Insight Owners. After some research, it seems that International Insight does include paddle shift feature, but it is called Insight EX. Anyone knows if Malaysia will get this model? Wikipedia updates that there is an update on September.
Thanks
*
Nope, in Malaysia pedal shift is not available. It wont give any effect on the overall sprint time. And most owner with pedal shift (other cars) only use em on the first 1 or 2 months, later very seldom use. D all the way.

However its nice to have. Like F1.

I bet it can use City E rear disk (have to change the whole knuckle). I'm looking for one.

QUOTE(idoblu @ Jul 16 2011, 01:25 PM)
Ya I find revving the engine every three months sounds like a myth. Maybe watonk will shed some light to whether US owners do the same thing

Btw I find the car not so intelligent when it comes to the auto-stop function. Here I am stuck in a stop and go traffic, the engine auto stop every second which is just silly
*
Nope. Its not necessary. Stick to what they told us in the manual and there's a sticker under the hood saying drive the car at least 30 minutes a month thats all. Overcharging is not healthy.

QUOTE(scionsigg @ Jul 17 2011, 12:29 AM)
very sad insight owner here....1st full tank onlt can go 400 KM with econ mode on...town driving...sigh sigh sigh...

That is very low my friend. Maximize your momentum. Take longer route with less obstacle vs short distance with lots of traffic light and speed bumps.

Wonder the light level adjustment 0-4 works?

0 being highest and 3 lowest.

Insight comes standard with very low beam. Adjust the aim to higher level. There's an adjustment screw on top of both headlamp. Use philips screwdriver, anticlockwise to rise the beam.

FC update report with Econ on
Average out highway (85%) & city (15%) ~20.4km/l
Good or not?

New car come with 37km mileage, now 1km!!  (only 3days & ready for service).
Very satisfy with the car so far; only drawback compressor stop during jam is crazy. But try changing the blower mode using the foot and top blower, solve my problem. The foot blower is damn power..
*
20.4km/l is very good.

Regarding the ac, most owners took sometimes to familiarize with the compressor off while auto-stop. Some can adapt, while those with thicker skin have to shift to N, pull handbrake and let go the brake pedal. tongue.gif

*
Same with me last time.

I always believe releasing the brake while stationary helps to cool the disk/pad and extend the life of hydraulic system tongue.gif. Now have to trade them for more mileage.

Last weekend drove up to Fraser's Hill. Only 2 pax.
Pumped full tank, FC registered 18km/l for whole trip. Econ mode off when going uphill with S mode.
Not too bad.

Only set back is the L gear when coming down hill. It seems dragging the gear box and not a smooth drive. Decided to change to D gear and drove all the down.

Quite a head turner up there as I believe many residents up there hardly see Insight on the road :-p
*
S would be more appropriate for higher speed downhill decent.
