i use tissue to clean, and it is oil. sleep.gif not much, wondering is normal?  sweat.gif  hmm.gif  icon_question.gif

any other can confirm?
*
Yup. Mine also got. But not as black/thick as yours.

I notice there is some oil and its covered with a layer of dust. The trace of oil is all the way to the bottom part of that joint (between motor and gearbox). Non on top. What could it be?

Our IMA motor is dry sump is it? or is it submerged in engine or cvt oil? hmm.gif

btw, the auto headlight doesn't work well. The light still on even i drove at 6pm, sunset but still very bright.
*
Yes. I have tested under short tunnel it stays off. Maybe still to bright to switch on. Sometimes early morning (<7am) I turn the lamp auto, sometimes its on, sometimes off. The wiper sensor seems more accurate in predicting the rain and wipe accordingly.

Seems we got a degree holder wiper sensor and a thrown-out-of-school light sensor.

Install mugen kit first. Theft will thought yours is modded car/ no longer original = walkaway tongue.gif
Only install connex when u smell something fishy about your spouse and wanna track where they went tongue.gif

If gov plans to abolish the tax exemption, which means our national carmaker is ready to roll out their hybrid fleets?
I doubt any insight owners will know or care whether the tax exemption is lifted next year, hehe. The better channel is asking around inside proton management or any1 works inside the land n transport ministry.
Good news, we got best bargain in town, cbu some more.
Bad news, u won't see new insight on the road anymore. Less cars, which means higher spare part costs for insight owners. Burden in the long run.
*
I really wish they extend the tax exemption period.

Honda always use this reason to attract buyers.

Local manufacturer not yet have any hybrid model for next year.

Question: How's the suspension of the car? Very stiff??
Din't get to test drive long enough to figure out that...
*
Its stiffer. If u used to a toyota, u'll need some getting used to initially.
But u'll appreciate the way it tackle fast bend.

I still dislike it after 3 months driving sad.gif Toyota is really much better IMHO. Somehow, after changing a rim, i feel better and less bumpy now. I wonder why, coz I'm just using cheap Dunlop lm703 tyres. Though, fc drops ~2km/l. It's a heavy chrome rim sad.gif
*
Toyota is softly sprung. My last toyota also using std 16 inch so the different is not much. I really appreciate Insight less rolling when taking corners coz my next of kin really complaints that in the toyota.

I'm more concern on the tyre noise.... doh.gif

Mine worked fine. When first engaged, it will beep (guess it is to tell you that the sensor is working). After that, if the rear is clear, it won't beep.
*
I notice the sensor will beep even on slight incline. I think its sensitive enough and we might getting used to it after sometimes.

I found out that the mud guard doesn't work well. the side of my car very dirty after drive in a rainy day. It seems it splashed by the mud guard.
*
Which mudguard?

QUOTE(alxdc @ Jul 24 2011, 10:45 PM)
hi infinitium.
I've installed the relay. You are right, the sound is much louder and sharper. 1 question. Do you need to install the 20A fuse between battery + to the relay? I didn't connect the 20A fuse. Just the relay only. it is ok?
*
Highly recommended to use the fuse. The best is nearest to the battery. In the event of short circuit (wire short, contact with body) the wire wont melt till burnt.

Nope. Dunlop 2030. Harder sidewalls : stiffer & noisier but handles better. Yours with Er370 rite. What d u think of those tyres?

I used to have a set of Bridgie ER30 195/55/16 on my last ride. Nice those tyres. Really quiet.

Originally Insight didnt have mudguard. Maybe u refer to the fender, coz some people call that mudguard. The one i put, some say its mudflaps, some say mudguard oso.

QUOTE(bbensonn @ Jul 25 2011, 11:29 PM)
hi all,
i just got my insight today!
Immediately i drive by to pump full tank, it shows my range is 757km, then i was cruising back home (around 30mins, maintain green most of the time, then pick up a couple times just to test power, and cruise control) for about 30km, then switch back to range surprisingly it shows 850km (yes, after 30km)
anyone been into this situation before? was quite anticipating how well it goes:)
*
Yup we all gone through that. If u can continue your journey without much stop, u might can achieve that 850km. But normally, we will have to come home, restart the car next morning, go through lots of traffic lights, speed bumps and hills/incline, the most we can get for normal daily life is 7xx km. If u can maintain 650 ++ km per 30 liters consider good already.

QUOTE(sbanboy @ Jul 26 2011, 07:03 AM)
Well ahkam77 ... apparently our Insights are starting to get lots of attention .... my wiper rubber nut covers also got stolen last night .... sad.gif    Wonder what they will think of next?  Will have to order from my SC .... where did you order yours ?

So did you finally super glue yours ... can you still unscrew the nuts later?
*
Next they will steal the antenna. Watch out brows.gif

want to ask anyway to adjust the back middle seat? it was unpleasant to sit on it..like seating on a bump  ohmy.gif

The center seat was bumped to make way for some wiring below.

QUOTE(alxdc @ Jul 28 2011, 10:17 PM)
Hey, I would like to ask all Insight owners, do you experience this?

When every morning the first start engine of your car to let it warm up before you start your journey, when you step on brake and shift gear to D or R, does your RPM meter drop almost to 0 and bounce back up? Seems like a problem. The RPM is not suppose to drop nearly 0 and bounce back up. When this happens, the whole car jerks and feels like the engine wants to shut down. This only happen the 1st drive/start engine of the day. D you have this problem?
*
Didnt notice that. I'll observe tomorrow morning.
I only notice some whistling sound when the car first started but gradually disappear.

Mitmivec,
Welcome good to see u here! Haha

Guys a general question on driving habit.  Any negative impact to put gear N while going minor down slope or 'cruising' to stopping, just with intention to 'save fuel'?
*
Insight only uses fuel when we step on the accelerator pedal. Shift to N will waste your momentum and your battery will be undercharge.

Dunlop tyres were not well known for silent.

Sport pedal, any acc shop have, cheap & good or expensive & good.

Side step no choice right now. HM only. Unless if u can find any universal type if have.

If you can maintain this kinda driving history, 600km per tank is 'kacang'. whistling.gif

Notice that my mileage already 450km @ fuel tank slightly below middle level.

Again, maximize your momentum (but dont crash into others back).

Hi folks,

My condenser was hit by a rock (on the north south highway - driving at ~110 kmh n god knows how). The gas leaked and now the ac not functioning. Took HM today and since it was natural 'disaster', its not covered by warranty. The condenser need to replaced and the quoted me MYR1842...excluding labor and etc.  cry.gif Tried welding at a friends place, but due to its thin and fragile material, they failed to stop leakage after trying for 5 hrs

After googling, found out some US stores sells it in range of USD110-150. But am not sure if its ori. Shipping to Malaysia is another USD150. Its still cheap compared to price from HM, but am worried if :
a) Custom duty or etc authority problem
b) Specification diffs with US model since they have heater too and condenser could be different. - (although am novice but I doubt its different if I ask 2010 Insight model part)
c) Online deal overseas
d) Duration to deliver

E.g. http://www.klcpartsinc.com/Condensor-Condenser_30.html

Please advise or provide some suggestions. (Am exhausted after driving in puchong road in a hot day without AC)  icon_question.gif
*
Sorry 4 ur mishaps. Now im thinking to put a mesh/guard in front, behind the bumper. The opening on the bumper is quite large.
Besides asking the service center personnel, sometimes senior mech do part time job in searching & replacing part. Linger round the service area and slow talk to them. They might have the answer.

QUOTE(CS7 @ Aug 8 2011, 07:01 PM)
Good!

The IMA or battery can't help must when in heavy jam, you will realize each time the auto stop and restart the engine time then fuel consumption is higher as display deep blue. So when u in federal highway or KL jammmmm to start crawling the engine is stop , start , stop, start, my experiance is FC drop so much from 19km/L to 16km/L. To put the gear to N may be helpfull if the jam is stop , jalan, stop , jalan in short period.

But no doubt also other car will have the same higher oil consumption. My experiance is Manual gear car is better at this situation (but kaki patah for glutch).

Added on August 8, 2011, 7:37 pm
Go to H SC , find a good & experiance foremen, ask them for help($$) , if agree then buy from US they install since so much different.
Hope will not void warantty.
*
Mileage drop from 19km/l to 16km/l also happening if you drive straight 150km/h tongue.gif
Try n see.

QUOTE(lunchtime @ Aug 9 2011, 12:00 AM)
From what i m reading, insight parts & maintaining this car is not cheap plus its not easy to maintain. Everytime must go to H SC which will take up time and will cost a bomb.

My current car, the SC will come to pick up the car & deliver after service, H Wergo don't have this policy.

Has any owner service (normal service) this car outside authorised SC?

Does anyone know the theft rate (stolen rate) of the Insight? or is this a cold Honda?

Added on August 9, 2011, 12:20 amsave on petrol but paid high price on parts & service? is this the insight way?
*
It seems expensive coz its new and parts only available from authorized dealer. The number of Insight in Malaysia is getting higher, later more channel of parts will be available at a lower cost.
In fact any other foreign car, name it Toyota, Ford, Peugeot, Mazda, etc or even Kia, also have quite expensive parts price tag from authorize service center.

Its a cool Honda I agree tongue.gif

folks, help me see otherwise, will be meeting my SA soon to relook at how cheap /expensive to own this insight, else i may go for the city instead (need something cheap & easy to maintain for my run about car) both my current cars are costing me bombs to run & maintain.  blink.gif

Added on August 9, 2011, 9:24 am
why is that so? why HM give free service voucher? Sorry, this is my first time dealing with H marque.  blush.gif
*
Test drive and feel both. If u really wanna cheap & easy, trash out car for daily abuse, buy national (Persona is not bad).
Owning City vs Insight, infact Vios/Forte is not that much different in term of cost, but you have a better air conditioning control tongue.gif + reduce CO & CO2 in our atmosphere thumbup.gif

maybe i been out of the car market for too long  blink.gif  i just can't digest how a 1.3cc car will cost similarly to a 2.0/2.4cc car in terms of parts. Are car parts prices among marques similar these days?

how much is a normal service? can i service the insight outside of authorised SC? (in case i m in an area where there is no authorised SC)

i m stumped to learn about the remote.  shakehead.gif

one thing is for sure, i don't have the time to google & import parts for the car aka ran_deep.

and could someone tell me how they tint the back w/s glass? can tint black aka MPVs?  icon_question.gif
*
U dont have to digest the 1.3 vs 2.0 parts comparison coz its not making sense.

The fact is, anything new and rare in the market will be more expensive compared to those abundance...
In Insight case, i think they put it pretty nicely. Not too cheap and not too expensive. the most important thing is quality should be up to the price quoted.
