Reverse macro is pretty hard, best is to use tripod. I have reverse adapter and extension tube. Prefer extension tube. tongue.gif

I have no adapter >< handheld all the way, even the aperture ring... yeah it's super hard for me because of constant handshake and I shoot outdoors for enough lighting as my flash currently no battery and i can't get good shots of insects indoors... Outdoors means there's wind, which will shake my subject also...

Added on June 7, 2011, 10:14 pmyesterday, i found a very small spider( about 2mm) and tried to take photos but keep shaking and i can't get a good shot and it escaped.. viewing them in the computer i found that it had prey in its mouth.. dang would've been awesome if i got a sharp one sad.gif

Me too, it's like test shot 5 or 6 times then you can get a good one. I'm just lucky to get a shot of the moth because it came into my room out of sudden.

Going to shoot more when i'm back to hometown. Bad thing it's outdoor. Need to practice my hand from handshake too. hahaha.

Gaodem your morning session already? biggrin.gif

I had used automatic ISO setting. Lowest SS at 1/80 and highest ISO at 1600. Flash set to i-TTL and flash sync 1/250. Flash aimed straight up and sometime one step towards the front. I tried shooting at aperture 5.6 and 8 also getting the background (further part) of the ballroom darkened as if there's no light sad.gif
*
Your max ISO is so low; If you underexpose, you will generate more noise than higher ISO properly exposed. When your camera hit the MAX ISO, it will then lower your shutter speed, even you have set it at 1/80, it will go lower, and it will affect your shot if you're shooting moving subject.

If you're using flash, the flash can help you to freeze motion; so for group shot you can use lower ss, as your subject is less likely to move and your flash can help to freeze motion.
You can try use bracketing and took 3 different picture with different exposure, and try set your max ISO to 6400;

For group shot, usually you will be using wider angle and your distance to subject usually is quite far away unless you want to head all "headshots" tongue.gif
So, usually f/3.5~f/5.6 is pretty good enough/adequate, but it really depends on the focal length, distance, and what kind of shot (full body, half body, etc).

Why would you want to do that?

Take out the UV filter if you want to put on ND filter.

If you're serious into macros, you would need a tripod. Handheld is very frustrating especially on manual focus.

With a tripod, you can take your time to fine tune by moving the tripod / camera back or front slowly when you're in manual focus.

In my experience, using flash is very easy to get great skintones.

What kind of reflector was that? Coloured one? What WB did you use? In Vivid mode?
