hey guys! anyone here using lee filter or cokin p filter for landscape shots?

Plan to get something like this

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Cheers!

Since nobody answered your question, i assume we don't have much landscape shooters here in this subforum... tongue.gif

I'm a Lee user myself, but had used the Cokin before this.
Lee is better in terms of Quality, but the Cokin is quite good when it comes to price to performance ratio.

Here's what you need:
A fliter holder, with the adaptor ring (Sometimes comes seperately)
Normal Cokin Holder+Adaptor Ring
Wide Angle Holder
Then get your own desired filters and you have it all...

You can also consider to get the kit straight away which has everything except for the adapter ring iirc.
Cokin Kit

Should you decide to go with Lee, do bear in mind that there's a very long waiting period out there for the filters and the price of 1 Lee Filter would have got you a whole Cokin Filter Kit with money to spare. But quality wise, no doubt Lee will be way better

If you're comfortable with the field of view (FoV) and focal length of the old 50mm lens, then the new AF-S 50mm f/1.8G would be great. The 35mm f/1.8G offers a little bit of wider angle compared to the 50mm. Depends on the shooter, but the 35mm may be more of your type than the 50mm. Try it out and see if you like it.

Agree that at 17mm, it's almost impossible to get that kind of subject isolation.

Close to that would be a 24mm f/1.4. drool.gif

Just took out my flashgun to remove the batteries for charging to get it ready for the weekend. To my horror I noticed the Nikon tag that closing the power adapter on the front of the flashgun gone !!! I thought I dropped it during the photoshooting last weekend and thankfully it was in the softcase after I digged it. Phews~ !

It's so easy to drop off? Anyone dropped it already? sweat.gif

Anyway, who's in line with me for July? tongue.gif

Its a rush+not perfect edit but you'll get the idea laugh.gif

and for the 2nd pic the end of a table (i think?) at the lower right kinda spoils the framing a little sweat.gif

may i know how did you edit the original image? how did you get the bokeh? and isit only with pp can get the background blur if shooting a subject at the same distance?

Thanks

Cheers mate for the info. Will do more research on it. About the adapter ring, lets say my lens filter size is 52mm so i need to get 52mm adapter ring? Is the size of the filter holder universal? Like i just need to get one filter holder and 52mm, 67mm and 77mm adapter ring?

About the coloured gnd filter, which colour is the best to use in landscape, im planning to get g red, blue, purple and perhaps pink?

it was lasso tools and blur filter in photoshop.
not only with PP but with aperture as well.
however for ultra wide shoot aperture usually doesn't give defocus effect to the image.

17mm focal length is quite impossible to get bokeh like that even if there is such a thing as 17mm f/1.4 shooting wide open ! You would need to PP.

My guess is that if you can hypothetically shoot shoot at f/1.4 and 17mm focal length at that distance, you'd get almost everything in focus.

I believe colour of the ND is not important. Just get the common one (grey). If you want effects, play around with PP/WB.
