if wan NFS Shift GT540M can support la if Shift 2 better go for DV 6
If u wan ur laptop to last for 5 yrs, i suggest u getting a i7 to be future proof. Plus if ur using photoshop, im sure ur gonna multitask. i7 quad core is perfect for the job. Not only that, using photoshop im sure ur gonna need extra RAM. 4GB or 8GB isn't enough as claim by some ppl.
FYI, N53SV i5 can add up to 8gb while the i7 N53SV can add up to 16gb.

If you really really wan ur laptop to last for 5 yrs, either find a N53SN+GT550M@RM3299 or get the DV6 without the headphones

Also seeing your budget is RM2900, the other alternative is getting the Lenovo Y470, i7-2630QM + Nvidia GT550M + JBL speakers@RM2999

No way Core i5 is going to last 5 years. Unless you're doing things like MsWord and MsPaint all the way..then i think Pentium4 also can support.

Judging from your siggy, i'm guessing you're doing photography and PS is meant to edit your photos? Then core i5 is just nice for now.

But dont get your hopes up too high. It will last you nicely past 3 years..but 5 years hmm..that's a long 60 months. The longer i've seen any laptops living past 3 years is...quite limited.

Pros
-Better QC
-Better Cooling
-Asus 2 year global warranty
-Cheaper than DV6 for your needs

the previous y460p got so called "problems" with switchable graphics.
Anyway, the y470 is using Nvidia Optimus so there wont be any serious issue. Plus, the design of the y470 looks appealing thumbup.gif
The JBL speaker is actually slightly above average compared to those Altec Lansing or THX speakers on budgets laptop.

Like i said, since ur budget really cannot go above RM3k, then y470 is the most suitable choice cause it comes with Nv GT550M thumbup.gif
But the quality of the laptop is questionable la hmm.gif

confirm HW Monitor not on. Optimus is just screwing up.

Anyway, it is High. Very high also quite smooth except for certain parts la. Somehow high does not feel like low graphics.
advance, gamer and hardcore  hmm.gif  did you dl the latest patch????
*
patch??.. dunnoleh.. i juz install and pirate pirate pirate all the way.. if u tune ur comp properly u can play hardcore/very high with smooth frames.. cuz i play the whole game in hardcore.. even with sidebar open can play smooth!! only sometimes when i send sleep and wake up play then big environment with radius infinite then screen drop rates to slightly choppy.. oh yea, playing the intermission videos suck 100% in hardcore soo juz skip it rates are like 15-20...

>jusjus
i Love AA!! i turn them up like 16x billenear and shadow smoothers override to max!! but impossible to do those in crysis 2... cry.gif
RA3, mw2, warhammer blk ops gears of war etc can max out~
how many buffer rates u guys do since u get bit choppy in cry2?

My latest upgrade on N53SN: Dual Hardisk rclxm9.gif

Total investment so far: N53SN (RM3.3K)+Extra 8GB ram (RM290) + 160GB SSD (RM950) + HDD Caddy (RM50) + DVD external case (RM25): RM4.6K++

Get one SSD (Intel 160GB).
user posted image

Replace SSD with the stock 640GB HDD.

Do a fresh install using retail Win7 Home Premium (using Product key at bottom of the notebook to activate). Asus AI Recovery disk will not work for SSD, as it was expecting a 640GB HDD, tried several time, end up getting a retail Win7 DVD to do fresh installation.

Remove keyboard by pressing the pin.
user posted image

Remove screw that holds the optical drive.

Place the stock 640GB HDD into Optical drive HDD caddy & install into Optical bay.
