So now the architecture made it a must a to have INTEL HD..

Last time was:

Intel > Monitor
Nvidia > Monitor

Now

Nvidia > intel > monitor? o.O lol another intel's plan to dominate the world?

Not Intel plan, its nVidia plan, since that is how nVidia Optimus works...

If you use Intel > Monitor and nVidia > Monitor, there will be blank screen during switching, which is what nVidia now is trying to eliminate and they arrange it to nVidia > Intel > Monitor, and nVidia will just turn ON/OFF and no blank screen during the switch since the nVidia is just used for the calculation and the result is copied to Intel and Intel output the result to the screen..

AMD still using Intel > Monitor, AMD > Monitor..

Oh, that explains the automatic switching. And ATi have to manually set whether you want it to be Intel or ATi right? hmm got pros and cons..i prefer manual switching at times ..cause i noticed that Optimus technology still isnt perfected yet..occasionally the system crashes/acts funny after a long intensive switch.

My latest upgrade on N53SN: Dual Hardisk  rclxm9.gif

Total investment so far: N53SN (RM3.3K)+Extra 8GB ram (RM290) + 160GB SSD (RM950) + HDD Caddy (RM50) + DVD external case (RM25): RM4.6K++

Get one SSD (Intel 160GB).
user posted image

Replace SSD with the stock 640GB HDD.

Do a fresh install using retail Win7 Home Premium (using Product key at bottom of the notebook to activate).  Asus AI Recovery disk will not work for SSD, as it was expecting a 640GB HDD, tried several time, end up getting a retail Win7 DVD to do fresh installation.

Remove keyboard by pressing the pin.
user posted image

Remove screw that holds the optical drive.

Place the stock 640GB HDD into Optical drive HDD caddy & install into Optical bay.

Added on June 5, 2011, 11:33 amput back keyboard & walla.... 160GB SSD + 640GB HDD is done... best combination for speed & capacity.
user posted image

What to do with the optical drive... get a external casing for it & now it become an external DVD drive  laugh.gif

Yes, is quite easy though, just use small flat head screw driver, press on the pins (5 pins) one by one, the keyboard will lifted once all pins is released.

I am a noob at this. Do we need to do this if we need to clean the keyboard? Can you PM with a attached pics of where the pins are? How do you "snap" back the keyboard? Tq. smile.gif
