Hi guys~
While surveying for a new laptop, I came across this Sager V3 thread and was quickly attracted to this brand which was unknown to me before. I was amazed by its flexibility for customization and affordability as a high-end gaming laptop, compared to other brands. In fact, I was so interested to find out more on Sager that I even went back to the V2 thread and spent few days to read from beginning till the end.. the 126 pages... I've followed through how some of you guys ordered your Sager, felt your doubt while placing order and waiting for the shipment, struggled through the delay, and shared your excitement when your toys finally arrived.. It's kinda weird that though this is my first post in the thread, I feel that I've know you guys for ages... well, days.. lol.. I've also gone through those splendid reviews of yours that I'm sure you guys have put a lot of effort into. I'm now quite certain that I'm gonna join you guys, becoming a member in the brotherhood of Sager.. I'm eying on a 8150-S1.. now my turn to start off with the tricky part of choosing a reseller.. Wish me luck in getting a good deal! |

QUOTE(Shaney @ Jun 15 2011, 06:54 AM) Okay. Sorry for late reply. Thanks, PrinceJ. Then what is the average battery performance after one full charge? Can it reach 4-5hours by doing microsoft words,iTunes and web browsing ? By the way, what is the battery life for np8150/np8130 without gaming but only normal usage? Only this two model allows future upgrade in future. how bad Is the np5165 got heat issue ? Will the CPU i7 2720qm suitable for this model? NP5165 battery can last about 3.5 hours(6 cells with optimus). The battery of NP8130, NP8150 can last about 3.3 hours (8 cells but no optimus). These models battery life are very close to each other, it really depends on the brightness of screen and what you do, I cannot give you an accurate estimation. If you meant GPU upgrade, only NP8150 can do that because of power supply issue. If you meant GPU upgrade to the newer version but same grade (eg: GTX460m --> GTX560m), all models can do that, assume the current motherboard can support future GPU. So far I seldom heard about Clevo heat issue, just like what jimmy said, clevo chasis is well built. I will always recommend i7 2720qm over i7 2630qm for better price-value. For more performance info you can simply google it. This post has been edited by Prince J: Jun 16 2011, 08:17 AM |

QUOTE(k-nen @ Jun 16 2011, 01:38 AM) @Amal If you live in Malaysia, I think you can check with Prince J as well, since he is from local. Thanks for reaffirming my choice~ Would you still recommend buying from Mucro, after what you have been through? I mean the RMA thingy.. As for the price, I'm not sure whether Prince J can offer better price than Mucro or not. The procedure of buying and getting the laptop from Mucro is quite smooth, I received the laptop in quite short period of time. As for the hardware faulty, I cannot blame Mucro coz it doesn't come from them originally. The RMA process sucks due to the shipping fee. Both Sager and Mucro doesn't want to bare the shipping fee direct from US to Malaysia. It also sucks when you want to ship it to Mucro and also when Mucro want to ship it back to Malaysia. Mucro will only accept the most cheapest courier service available, which will takes 2 weeks minimum. So, imagine that your laptop actually stays at the Post office for 4 weeks(2weeks to singapore + 2 weeks back from singapore) minimum doing nothing at all! UNLESS if you don't mind to use your own money to send it back to them or to receive back from them using DHL which cost me RM227 per one way. I'm not sure how Prince J handle the RMA process, maybe you can check with him. |

You pay for the shipping fee from Singapore to US and US to Singapore on your own?As for the price, I'm not sure whether Prince J can offer better price than Mucro or not. Yes you got the point already, Sager will never refund for global shipping fee EVEN IF THE LAPTOP YOU RECEIVE IS FAULTY. It seems quite unreasonable. However, there is a trade off between what you pay and what you get. You can also order Alienware from Dell, pay extra fees for better warranty and exterior design. The reseller you mentioned, they actually earn very little on Sager laptop import business if you only purchase the laptop, but not their labor warranty, their margin is very very slim, even below normal 2k to 3k laptop dealers' margin like Acer, Toshiba etc. If you think this way, I think you should be able to understand why they insist to send the parcel via POS MALAYSIA (normal parcel, not pos laju) to you, if not they will incur losses. We have realized the inefficiency and riskiness of Pos Laju, the insurance service offered by their company only covers for parcel missing, I wonder what's the purpose to purchase their insurance, even if there is car accident causes your laptop broken or whatever, you are unable to claim. Every time we walk in to Pos Laju for sending the parcel, the officer seems like very reluctant to accept the laptop delivery business even if we purchase insurance. They even told me some stories like whose whose parcels are missing and broken, then suggest me not to send laptops via Pos Laju. Just telling the truth, I got nothing with Pos Malaysia and Pos Laju. Now we have tied up with UPS/Airpak high value item delivery team for Malaysia ground shipping. Every parcel will be handled with 100% insurance, and we won't increase our shipping charges. Since our average sale per unit is above RM6000, we cannot accept any risk associated with the delivery. As I told you before, it isn't that we are unable to compete our prices with the reseller you mentioned. We can set the same price as them also. What we need to do is to charge expensive shipping and handling fees, payment handling fees, and offer services like Pos Malaysia shipping, end up with 1 month goods delivery. We are not interested to enter into price war, cut prices crazily to gain sales. We engage in KL and Johor (JB, Kluang) and Singapore. If laptop fails to operate, buyer can pass the product to us in these areas, no need to send your laptop via any courier service provider. If buyers are not in these areas, they have to send the laptop or parts to our office on their own. All the costs (except Sager repairing process, which is covered under Sager warranty) during warranty period are covered under our carry-in warranty, if users didn't buy our carry-in warranty, we also offer cheap transportation services for users to claim warranty using our company shipping account. More specific info please pm or call me directly. This post has been edited by Prince J: Jun 16 2011, 12:25 PM |

Like I said, I actually don't have to pay any shipping fee from Malaysia to Singapore, from Singapore to US, and back from US to Singapore and to Malaysia. The delivery from Singapore to US and back fro US to Singapore took them couple of days only coz they have agreement with DHL. The only issue is the shipping to and from Singapore, coz they will use the cheapest possible courier which is POS Malaysia (not POS laju). I do agree with you regarding the POS Malaysia advice there, they also very reluctant to send my Laptop to Singapore last time, they said it's very risky. Since you are from local, that's why I suggest our friend here to check with you, so that he can skip the worrying part of sending back the laptop to the reseller before it is sent back to US. Can you share with us how much is your NP8150-S1 including shipping fee, if you don't mind? Mine is RM5,930.71 Thanks |
