Woohoo, new thread!!
@Mikeshashimi Actually, if possible, top up another RM 500 to RM 4000 to get the Sager NP8130. It comes with Geforce GTX 460m and dedicated fan for the GPU. To be frank, until now, you can't find any laptop with that price which comes with a dedicated GPU fan.
Of course if really really budget is a concern, around RM 3500, I would say try to get the Sager NP5165, it actually makes not much difference than a Dell XPS. Sager NP5165's fan is shared between the CPU and GPU, just like most of the laptop do. I won't say they are gaming laptop, because a real gaming laptop should have a dedicated fan for the GPU. And I did look into the Dell XPS interior design, there are 2 fans actually but the other one is a very very small fan which I don't think it helps a lot. Trust me, Sager NP8130 is the cheapest gaming laptop you can find. GTX 460m is better than GT 555m.
Sager NP8130 might not have a good exterior design but the interior is well designed. One thing that you should bear in mind that the beauty of Sager is that most of the laptop parts are easily accessible, even the fans also can be easily accessed, which means you can clean the fans easily. You can hardly find any laptop that allows you to access the fans in the laptop easily. Not even Dell XPS can do that. :]
Not to consider the exterior of the laptop but if you compare the interior (hardware), I dare enough to say that Sager NP8130 can beat Alienware M15X-R2.
Sager NP8130 vs Alienware M15X-R2 Processor in NP8130 (i7-2630m) beats processor in M15X-R2 (i7-740m) GPU in NP8130 (GTX 460m) beats GPU in M15X-R2 (AMD HD5850m)
Price of Sager NP8130 is around RM4000 +/-, price of Alienware M15X-R2 is close to RM6000.

QUOTE(Mikeshashimi @ May 21 2011, 12:42 AM) is the size of the hard disk important? what impact will it have on the speed of things? Size of harddisk doesn't affect the speed. Using SSD Hard disk will definitely boost the speed but it is still expensive at this stage if you are considering getting at least 500gb. If budget is a concern, stick to the normal 500gb 7200rpm. I'm using two 500gb 7200rpm harddisk on my NP8170-S1, so far no problem.

QUOTE(Devina_8 @ May 24 2011, 02:49 PM) i am getting 6970M crossfire, i'll post the temps here later after i got my lappy, i will check with futuremark , 1 hour gaming and idle, should be enough to c the temp running ok lah ok lha ---but usually my room tempt is running 22, my m17x 6970m running at idle is running at 55 and max at gaming 70...not more than that, so its ok i guess... Your laptop temperature is quite low. I'm assuming you are in a room with air-con. These days weather is hot lol This post has been edited by jimmykvt: May 24 2011, 10:12 PM

LOL, just noticed that NP8130 is really a good seller, even xoticpc is back-ordering that model now.
@sweeann I thought your laptop will be sent to Dubai instead of Malaysia?

Hmm..., i don't quite get it why you play games, CPU temp is high instead of the GPU. And for NP5160 and NP5165, the CPU and GPU are sharing the same heatsink and same fan, so if GPU is hot, CPU will feel the same too.
I normally recommend gamers to get at least a NP8130 which separates the heatsink and fans for CPU and GPU. CPU has its own heatsink and fan while GPU has its own heatsink and fan too.

Mine comes with the stock screen, didn't customize a lot except for the CPU and GPU upgrades, that's why it is faster.
Hmm..., I guess a lot of resellers should be running short on the 95% LCD panel.

QUOTE(Perwaja @ May 26 2011, 03:42 PM) guys if i buy from reseller online - for example NP8130 how much it will cost me with Tax , Cost, DHL and so on? You can refer to carbonytte's thread. He bought it from LPC Digital. I think LPC Digital has low shipping rate, and there is no import duty/tax for new laptop entering Malaysia. Added on May 26, 2011, 4:27 pmIf I'm not wrong, currently NP8130 is on back-order due to lack of the following: - Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M GPU with 1.5GB GDDR5 Video Memory - Back Order! (ETA: End of May, 2011) - 15.6" Full HD LED-Backlit Display with Matte Finished Surface (1920 x 1080) - Back Order! I'm currently typing my review on my laptop lol. Not going to be a performance review but kind of a review on how I got the laptop and comparison to other laptops. I found out that many people failed to see Sager laptop as a better choice/cheaper option when comparing to Asus G series and the Alienware due to the lack of knowledge about Sager laptop. And most people failed to take a look at the interior laptop to understand how good the laptop can be and how easy to clean the laptop.

QUOTE(kpchoo29 @ May 27 2011, 01:42 AM) Only cover MY to SG? What about SG to US? I thought mucro labour warranty means cover all shipping cost. I don't think Mucro covers shipping fees from SG to US if you are talking about the warranty terms and conditions. For Amal's case, he receives a faulty laptop, so they are willing to replace for him and cover everything, but after that within the warranty period, anything happens, all referred to the warranty terms and conditions. For small problem: Regional Carry-in (labour) for Mucro means you send it to Mucro and you bear the shipping cost. (If you are staying in Singapore, you carry your laptop to their office and they fix it for you) SG Onsite means if you are in Singapore, they will go to your place and fix it for you. (This one is only useful for those staying in Singapore) For big problem: From SG/MY to U.S., you bear all the shipping cost. This post has been edited by jimmykvt: May 27 2011, 02:01 AM

LOL, all the while I thought NP7280/7282 has the same size as NP8170 which only comes with 2 HDD compartment. After checked in xoticpc website, it's true lol, NP7282 comes with 3 HDD compartments, switching the optical drive bay to HDD bay will give it a total of 4 HDD, really a monster! I hope ricky is willing to show a detailed of laptop parts in his laptop's belly like how I did for my NP8170-S1 review. By the way, ricky, isn't it 17.3" instead of 18.4"? That beast is so heavy, you wont be using it in a cafe on battery mode. Might as well buy another cheap netbook which is less than RM 1000 for mobility.

QUOTE(cryogenist @ May 27 2011, 02:21 PM) Oh. If you are in Singapore, there is another alternative. In Sim Lim Square, one of the shop specializes in doing skins for laptops. I think he charge $25 for Carbon Fiber sticker + stick-on service. Oh, so you got yours done? Is it the shop that is selling a lot of laptop accessories like keyboard skins, screen protectors, cooling pad etc.? This post has been edited by jimmykvt: May 27 2011, 02:26 PM
