How high is the bit rate? As long your wired LAN can achieve at least 15-20mbps should do fine for most files already.
*
20Mbps is low bit rate for 1080p movie, high bit rate is >50Mbps, a decent 100Mbs NIC can achieve 90% of the bandwidth, which is above 90Mbps. I heard the Realtek chip is poor at network throughput, my xtreamer ftp throughput at best is near 40Mbps, so when stream the high bit rate 1080p movie, it stutters ... I hope sigmal chipset won't have this issue.

Does the new firmware support 3D files or is there one in the near future?

well, 100mbps (as well as other rated network speeds) is only a theoretical transfer rate, subject to network protocols, overheads and other factors. It's really a matter of the kind of network setup you have, and whether it supports your needs well enough. For me, 100mbps works fine for my media streaming, but I'll be upgrading my equipment to Cat6 Gigabit anyway as it's too slow to transfer files between PC/NAS over 100mbps. Sorry for the OT.

Yea, 100mbps after considering those network overheads and such, I am getting about 5-7MB/s. Although streaming is fine for most files I have, transferring to my NAS drive takes a while for large files so I have plans to upgrade my network setup to gigabit connection but will have to see how since a lot of equipments needs to be changed including my homeplugs. sweat.gif

Hi Sifus,

I recently get myself a Dune HD Smart D1. The player still come with the original Version "100828_0034" firmware. I downloaded the latest beta version of firmware Version "110511_2007_beta" (BETA version) but when I tried to update, it displayed a 'invalid firmware file' message and prompted to restart without updating.

Would like to check with you all if there's any update sequence(from which version to which) that I need to follow or actually I can update from original version direct to the latest beta.

Thanks: Ling

best is to link the Dune to a network, so you can choose which firmware you wanna update...

If you have problem (first time i heard this), update to a latest version which is NOT BETA...try it out first

Bro,

Thanks a lot for the tips. I downloaded a few version to my pendrive (2GB) but all I get was the 'invalid firmware' after the firmware checking by Dune HD Smart D1. All the file size downloaded was correct though and I also tried the zip file.

Now updated to the latest beta firmware after follow your method. Have to move around my stimix modem to get the LAN cable long enough to reach my Dune. biggrin.gif

Is it because of the animation when moving from icon to icon? Turn off the animation and see.
