If new f/w can auto detect region and play instantly, that would be awesome. Too early to daydream? blush.gif Consumers always ask for convenience. So, auto detect would be best. I tend to forget that it's on Region B. Then have to go to main menu and change it again.

The unit is so pathetic, only comes with 256MB of memory. Adding an external memory would be a 'must' then.
Does this 8670 chipset support 3D?

Dune is better among the 3. It's less buggy (bug-free), more features and gives full BD menu playback.

+1

I still have my Dvico 6500. Many flaws and unable to play iso file. Collecting dust. Forgotten how many media players that I bought and sold it off. Now, using Dune Prime 3.0. Flawless in my case. smile.gif

just use normal PC as NAS....cheap solutions  tongue.gif

I do not want that. Thinking of Synology NAS. Just wanted to experience how to go about NAS and wireless streaming for video and audio.

Tks a lot, ADJ & m-sport.

Since today is rest day. I'll do more reading on it.

My intention is to connect it to my Dune as well as trying out streaming to my hi-fi. To kill 2 audio birds with a NAS stone.

Just want to get my hands 'dirty' and experience it since the curiosity gets better of me. Not going to have a massive video storage under NAS. More likely will be hi-rez music files (browsing Linn web) as our NSAG would like to know (and see) about it.

I am planning to do that for the upcoming audio show (6 mths down the road) for my hi-fi.

me follows this thread with great interest...

i now have my music files on my PC...my squeezebox is hooked up to the HT in the other room and i feed my music files to the squeezebox via networked homeplugs. works like a charm...

problem with this setup is that the PC MUST be on to be running squeezebox server...

i too am exploring a synology/qnap solution to carry all my music as well as movies to feed my squeezebox and my media player(s)...

Currently have the video media spread over: 3 x 1.5TB, 7 x 2TB, 1 x 1TB.... oh man.. those multibay NAS solutions are exp $3xxx+ sad.gif
*

The Squeezebox is quite good. I have a cust who is using it too along with his Bladelius Embla.

I would not want to switch on my PC in order to use it. That's why I am thinking of Synology NAS. Perhaps will start off with the basic unit first before going for the many multiple bay NAS. I already have the Sonos controlled by iPhone. Now, thinking to add AirPort Express to it.

Better stick it here for now as I want to know how well it works with Dune and how to go about it as I am a complete 'noob' when it comes to IT. Pardon my ignorance. Uncle is like that.

The Dune supports SMB and uPnP. Question : how do we actually 'sync' it with NAS? I suppose that we need to config the NAS via pc first in order to partner it with Dune. Sorry, uncle does not know a lot of IT jargon. Jagung, ok.

I have already able to get my Dune to connect wirelessly.

TIA.

Tks a lot smile.gif

I have a 4 bay Hotway. Itchy butt to try out NAS. Need to read through the Dune manual again to understand it better.

The Dune has its own app for iPhone. It's a basic remote just like the Denon app. Once I get it works out, time for CAS and a better DAC.

In my case, I have a NAS server (powered by a Solaris 11 PC) running mediatomb uPnP server. the mediatomb uPnP is a media server that able to stream audio and video to DLNA compatible player.

My Yamaha V2067 is certified with DLNA, so I just use my Yamaha iPhone apps to remote connect V2067 to mediatomb media server and I can play FLAC music to my amp.

Htkaki, your Denon 4310 is able to play FLAC or wave format music from UPNP media server, and Synology Diskstation has builtin DLNA/uPNP capable media server, so I believe you don't need the Dune HD to play music, just use your Denon 4310 directly play music (either WAV or FLAC format) from the synology diskstation.

Tks a lot for the tips smile.gif

When the time comes, maybe I need to invite you over. Yes, I must admit that my 4311 is under utilised. Never use it as a network player until recently. Perhaps I have spent too much time on hi-fi lately.

I am also thinking of using NAS for my hi-fi. For that I need to get a better DAC (with Async USB) to replace my Wadia. How exactly it will be connected with what equipment.... I seriously do not know yet for now (opening wallet and checking bank acc sweat.gif )

Dejavu... LOL..

Was reading it yesterday :

I am also quite curious with this :

http://www.aprilmusic.com/eng/main/sub02_03_05.html

Just bought a Samsung Tablet 10.1 for my son (why not iPad2? Coz I got it at very cheap price). Now, thinking of 'messing' with it too.

Sonos er..  brows.gif ..

Streaming from NAS direct into yr 4311 using DLNA is the simplest way to go but it leaves no room for DAC. Agreed with ADJ, you end up need a music server if DAC is in your plan. That comes NAS > MUSIC SERVER > DAC > PRE/POWER. Finding a powerful yet user-friendly music server is the most essential part out of the others by considering your requirements. Once you've determined your music server, just find a compatible NAS to work with it at ease becasue eventually you don't work with the NAS but mainly the music server thingy for music playback. Since you have a Sonos and I'm sure it's 100 times better than Dune to act as a music server so why not give it a try with a compatible NAS such as Buffalo?
*
I have DAC now but planning to get a better DAC.

I am thinking NAS >
1. Music Server > DAC > Krell pre/power (going to upgrade)
2. media player > 4311

Sonos is easy to play with. Simple with iPhone. Can listen to so many diff stations worldwide easily.
