not really a problem but it's on a lower level when RM700 could bring you to a better level brows.gif

Hi everyone,

Would love some advice on what 5.1 speaker to consider getting.

My soundcard will be Creative X-Fi Titanium. Budget for speakers around RM450.

The speakers will be in my room, which is quite small (3.5m x 4.5m I think), so no need super high RMS I think. Usage will be 50% music, 30% movies, 20% games. Would place more importance on clarity, as I do listen to every type of music. Bass should be good, but I am not planning on actually shaking the floor with it

My current serious consideration is the Edifier R501 MKii. Do you think I should go for this, or perhaps top up a little more if there is a better option? Haha won't mind top up extra RM50 if there really is a big difference.

I will be making my purchase in around 3 days, so appreciate any help.

Thanks!

actually there is no use of 2.1 with dolby or dts because dolby digital (ac3) is a 6-channel data. same goes with dts. that's why there isn't any 2.1 speakers with dolby because it doesn't support 6-channel in the first place.

try logitech z5500 or z906. should be around RM1300.

there are other cheaper alternatives like Philips HTR3465 but it may not be available in your region.

Please recommend me a combination of a 2.1 speaker + media box. (Sorry I don't know if it's right for me to ask a recommendation for a media box here, but I have a combine budget.)

Will be using it for my plasma TV. It's used for movies and TV programmes.

The budget for 2 of the devices plused together is RM700.

For the speakers, I would place highest importance on sound CLARITY. BOOM BOOM bass is not important for me.

For media box, it would be a plus if I can play the movies from my computer's hard drive through LAN cables/wifi because my computer is just about 5 feet away from the TV. But sticking a USB stick in is OK for me too if that would give me a better 2.1 speaker.

Thanks yeah! icon_rolleyes.gif

EDIT: Budget increased to RM700

I need recommendation from the sifus, I thing the budget that I will spend on the speaker will be not more than RM 800 and most likely I will use it for gaming, rock music, and movies.
