Thank you AVFAN, this is good sharing, especially for those having problem with qvod blocking at the moment.

However, I noticed some malware or spyware in the website which could affect the box performance if infected. Pls kindly install antivirus app from Google Play as precaution.

isn't the difference just q3ii can't deliver dtshdma/ddtruehd while q5ii can?

i just noticed 1.0.7 emmc eng firmware now gives a slightly different imgotv (mangotv).

the "timeshift" or china live tv stations have been removed. good news is i can find it, called "live tv" in my apps, so it can be accessed again but separately.

anyone experiencing same, look for it in my apps. if not there, then need to reinstall the app separately.

Hi AVFAN,

It is part of Himedia phase out the illegal Live TV and replaced with Timeshift from MangoTV. This is long term plan from Himedia to eliminate illegal apps. In the future HiTV will be eliminated as well.

1.0.6 had mangotv with timeshift. timeshift removed from mangotv with 1.0.7.

u mean timeshift will return to mangotv once they somehow phased out live tv?

hitv if eliminated.... bad news... sad.gif

The original Live TV and HITV will be removed soon and replaced by MangoTV legal version.

i see...

i hope the legal mangotv will have at least some china livetv channels.

one thing, overall, mangotv is not as smooth as hitv, at least for the stuff i watch.

anyway, i hope it all works out satisfactorily for all existing and new users.

this is impt... for anyone who missed it since xbmc is the mother of all apps! biggrin.gif

i have installed and tried xbmc 13.1 gotham thru n thru on himedia q5ii emmc and non-emmc. it's good.

so, forget all the previous headaches with advancedsettings.xml, hiplayer 12.2, frodo 12.3, etc.

should work the same with other himedia models.

just be sure to do this impt step after installing xbmc 13.1 gotham:
QUOTE(Jumpingjuniper @ Jul 8 2014, 11:20 AM)
If you go into settings and in the left column click on video.
Scroll down to the bottom and set the page from standard settings to advanced or expert settings.
The menu should show the acceleration option. Click the mediocodec radio button to off.
I think it is a known issue in xbmc that live streaming videos with acceleration, the videos cut off at 10 to 15 mins. At the moment the only way to solve is to turn off the video acceleration in settings.
I am able to watch videos with librastagefright activated without any video cutoffs.

another xbmc tip i will repeat here:

using es file explorer, save on yr usb drive a copy of the folder org.xbmc.xbmc found in sdcard/android/data. with that, you can install xbmc 13.1 gotham on any other similar android, just copy and paste that folder in the right place to get all the settings and addons u had. no need to go thru the gruelsome steps of fusion-xfinity-mashup, unzip, addons enable, naxi-x, subtitles, etc., etc...!!

Been comparing between Q3II and Q5II. But just notice that Q5II is 2012 product. hmm.gif

Is there any newer product similar to Q5II specs and price?

The official himedia-tech.com a lot of error. When change to english version, many items could not be viewed. sweat.gif

check q16!
https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=3201002&hl=

ya, the manufacturer is chinese, not great with english documentation.
but the box itself when u use it, can do, won't be problematic with english firmware.

i may have posted this before...

i do not use dynamic dhcp but set ip to static, been experimenting different dns to see if any diff... for mangotv, hitv, cloudtv and xbmc.

after several tries, i'm still not sure but tend to conclude:

... compared to other open dns, use of dns 1.2.4.8 is better for mangotv, not much diff with hitv and cloudtv but worse for xbmc.
... when i revert to my usual dns, xbmc works better, no change for hitv and cloudtv, but mangto tv lags most of the time.

anyone tried?

nicety, hope u can comment, thanks!

likely the q5 isn't as good as the q5ii emmc. x8h... i checked it out, almost recommended to a fren but noticed it can't passthru hd audio, not so good if u hv a good theater system. anyway, hope u get what u r looking for with that device, that's most impt.

i hv spent a lot of money on av hardware n software my life, so it's gud to share... i m also a big fan of sharp tv's, ac ryan media players n unifi broadband. gud products, buy it, gud for many years, problem free....!!
